Boondockers Welcome Is the Perfect Membership For Your Next Fishing Trip

Boondockers Welcome has 3,215+ locals who invite RVers to park on their private property, share stories, and get a good night’s sleep. This means you’ll have access to peaceful, private locations, insider info on the best fishing spots, and no camping fees for your next fishing trip.

What are you looking for in a campsite?

If you are heading out in your RV for a weekend of fishing, you’re probably looking for a few key things. Below are some of the benefits Boondockers Welcome has to offer.

Access to a comfortable safe place to sleep

After being out on, in, or next to water all day, you don’t want to come back to a campsite and see your stuff messed with, or wonder if you are allowed to stay there overnight. And the last thing you want to do is come back to dogs barking, a party going on, or to a cramped space. All you really want is to come back to your RV and get some good, peaceful sleep, in a safe space.

Conveniently located to the waters you want to fish in

The further you drive, the less time you’re fishing. This is a very basic principle, but something everyone considers. Being within 10-15 minutes from your spot is ideal because you can come and go when the fish are biting. And that’s what you can find with Boondockers Welcome.

Affordable

The perfect spots usually cost the most. But the more money you can save on camping sites, means you can spend more money on fishing gear—different lures, better poles, more trips. And Boondockers Welcome is so affordable, you won’t believe it.

Being able to clean and cook your catch

After a long day of fishing, it is nice to come back and fry up the catch of the day. Most Boondockers Welcome spots will offer amenities like fire rings that you can cook over.

How does Boondockers Welcome benefit you?

This membership is more than a great spot for dry camping—in fact 70% of Boondockers Welcome hosts offer hookups too. It will quickly become one of your favorite—if not your most favorite—memberships you have.

With the 3,215+ Boondockers Welcome locations scattered across North America, you are certain to find campsites close to your favorite spots, and you’ll avoid those costly camping fees.

No camping fees

A weekend of camping can quickly eat up your budget. With camping fees on the rise—averaging around $45 per night—a long weekend of camping will cost you a pretty penny. With the Boondockers Welcome membership, you will start saving money on your very first fishing trip.

Less competition for booking

Directly connected to the rise in RVing popularity is the increased difficulty in finding good spots. Typically good fishing locations are close to water. And we all know finding campsites near water is almost impossible sometimes. But with Boondockers Welcome, you are competing with far fewer people because you need a membership. This means, you will be more likely to get great locations—and potentially on shorter notice.

More private

Because you are staying on private land, you typically have more space. The days of overcrowded campgrounds could be over with a Boondockers Welcome membership. I’ve stayed in some of the most beautiful locations, and it was simply someone’s oversized backyard. With views that go on, and not a person in sight, it is the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day.

Connection to locals

Boondockers Welcome hosts are glad to have you at their place. They enjoy the outdoors, and are more than happy to connect with you. This could mean they are able to point you in the right direction for some of the best local fishing spots. Having this connection to locals will save you time walking up and down the shore, or trolling the waters for a spot where the fish are going to bite.

Lots of locations

There are so many locations scattered across North America that you are sure to find a spot that meets your needs. If you take a few minutes to look at the map of host locations, you will quickly realize Boondockers Welcome is infiltrating every nook and cranny of North America.

How do you get started?

The process is easy, and the membership is minimal. Just follow the simple steps below, and you’ll be camping and fishing before you know it!

Decide if you can host

This membership exists because of the generosity of its members. And you might want to contribute to the growing list of hosts.

Create a user profile

Like a lot of social businesses, profiles are what keep people safe and accountable. By creating a user profile, you are helping contribute to this. Fill out some basic information about yourself—nothing too personal of course. Add a couple pictures, if you choose, and you are on your way to your first stay.

Search the listings

Now you’ll be able to search for your first host. You can do this by looking along your favorite water way, or on a route you’ve always wanted to explore.

Contact the host

If you find a spot you like, you can reach out to the host directly in the app. This will allow you to keep everything in one location and maintain privacy. Make sure you look at the rules and see what the host accommodates. If they do have hook ups—which 70% do—you ought to contribute financially to help offset those costs. Typically, five to ten dollars does the trick.

Enjoy your stay

Your host will have to accept your request, offer driving directions, and then you’ll make your trip. Be sure to not overstay your welcome and enjoy your safe, legal, and free stay. No need to pay for expensive, cramped campsites. No need to sleep in the truck, and hope you don’t get “the knock”.

Leave a reference

Once you have enjoyed your weekend and caught the legal amount of fish, you will have the chance to thank your host. By leaving a reference, other future guests will know what to expect. It continues to grow this community of selfless people. And is truly what makes Boondockers Welcome a one-of-a-kind community.

Now it’s time to become a guest

For your $79 yearly membership fee, you’ll gain access to over 3,215+ host locations. This means less money spent on camping sites, and more money spent on a fishing license, gear, and trips. And who doesn’t like the sound of that?
