Life is like a box of chocolates…

There are many comments being posted these days about various encounters that guests have had at Boondockers Welcome (BW) host locations. Most are positive, but then from time to time someone will complain about an active railroad track being one mile away that kept them awake or something similar.

OK!! News Alert! If you want sameness, a commercial campground is going to be a great choice for you. If you want an adventure, if you want variety, and if you want to meet someone with a smiling face at the end of a long journey, then you will most definitely want to stay with a BW Host.

In the immortal words of Forrest Grump, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get.” This quote is an excellent way to describe the feeling we get every time we pull up to a BW Host site. I have to say, not every place we have stayed has been exactly what we expected. In fact, it has always been an adventure. Sometimes that adventure starts with trying to figure out how to get to the place or how to back down a long driveway. But, it has always been fun and exciting.

Sure, we stay with BW Hosts to cut down on road expenses, but that is not the main reason we stay with BW Hosts. We do it for the adventure and excitement of meeting new friends and learning about them and their travels. It is a chance for us to learn about their community.

Boondockers Welcome is like a box of chocolates. Yes, you never know what you are going to get, but you open the box and dig in because you know you are going to enjoy it!

By the way, for the wary traveler, Google Earth and Google Maps are a great way to scope out an area before you arrive. Once your reservation request has been accepted you can take the address and ‘fly’ over the area and look for things that you might want to avoid like a major airport or railroad track nearby. Personally, these things don’t bother me. In fact, we once stayed with a BW host that has a site at a municipal airport. We were able to stay in a secured fenced-in area behind a rental car agency. It was great watching the planes take off and land while eating dinner. Did the roar of jet engines bother us? Heck no!

If you want assorted ‘chocolates’, be a Boondockers Welcome guest. Life is too short not to treat the journey as an adventure. Open that box and enjoy!

I currently live full time in my parked rv and am traveling in my van. I lost my home and land in hawaii to the 2018 eruptions and dealt with extreme anxiety for the years since. The rv is overwhelming but the van doable for now. Are van travelers welcome as well as rv’s?

    Hi,
    New to RVing.
I already know that I will not like staying, side by side in a campground.
    Looking for something else.
    Thanks
