We have two wonderful Heelers (Australian Cattle Dogs) one is a Blue Heeler and the other is a Red Heeler. They are 15yrs old. We keep them on leash, and they stay in the RV other than to do bio-breaks.
The area around Southeastern Wyoming, and Northeastern Colorado. Close to Cheyenne Wyoming.
2007 Monaco Knight. We pull a small Mini Cooper four down most of the time.
Enjoyable boondockers who are easy to get along with and fun to be with.
We all hope that “our first” anything will be an experience we will remember for life. Our stay with Mr and Mrs jbat66 was our very first experience with Boondockers Welcome. We got the exact experience that we hoped for. The app made requesting a stay easy and it made comunicating with the hosts effortless. We got a location that was so beautiful that we couldn’t take a bad picture and Mr and Mrs jbat66 made us feel so welcomed that we felt like we have known them forever. Mr jbat66 and I are the same person from different parents. It is hard to believe that we have so many of the same past experiences and hobbies. Thank you both so much for making our first Boondockers Welcome experience a truly awesome one!!!
Friendly host. Amazing vistas. Gorgeous sunset and sunrise! Thank you for hosting us! 🙏🏻
We are from the East Coast and had never experienced the open plains of Wyoming. It was amazing! The hosts were friendly, warm, and extremely helpful. I loved chatting with them..so warm and inviting. Great people! The sunset and sunrise were amazing and it was absolutely the best way to experience the open plains. Thank you so much for a great experience. We would absolutely stay with them again!
We are new to RVing and the host has a wealth of knowledge that he is more than willing to share. They had a nice level place for the RV and even had 30/50 amp power that they let us use at no charge. It is so quiet & peaceful surrounded by miles of rolling fields. Must be nice to wake to such peace every morning, thanks for sharing it with us.
Awesome hosts with water and electric hookups. Had a nice stay in this quiet isolated spot not far from interstate. Would recommend.
We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed it tons. The hosts were there to great us and mKs sure we had what we needed. Got to chat with them for a little while we were there and they had plenty of knowledge to share with us. Would love to stay again!
Our stay was to short. Wished our schedule would have allowed us move time. We had a great time visiting on the porch.
Jim is very pleasant and we enjoyed this, our very first, boondockers stay
If you are looking for peace and tranquillity this is the place. Beautiful views. Cool breeze in the shade in the August heat. They have a loveseat swing to sit and gaze out at the prairies. Our host was friendly and helpful. We hope to return!
We had a great time while staying at Home On he Range. We were incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed including beautiful views of both Nebraska and Colorado. These hosts could not have been any more hospitable. Thank you again for a great stay!
What a beautiful place to stop while heading cross country. jbat66 were gracious and welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel safe during the pandemic. THANK YOU!
Perfect place to stop. Beautiful rolling hills with a picturesque night sky view. The owners were so kind and stayed and chatted with us for a while. Wish we would have gotten more then one night with them. We will definitely be back again. Oh and they allowed us to fill up our fresh water in the rig. Couldn't have asked for nicer hosts.
Terrific host and very nice place to stay. I had a tense drive battling 45-65mph wind gusts and this was a great place to relax and recover while on the road. My host gave me some great recommendations for gear and supplied an electric outlet so I didn’t have to be self contained for my overnight. I also got a recommendation for a stop along my way from my host. Thanks for everything!
The host was very friendly. The view was beautiful and inviting. From our spot, we could see Nebraska and Colorado. The host provided fresh water to fill our tanks, and electricity to run our rigs. I hope we have a chance to stay here again in the future.
Home on the Range is very peaceful and quiet. I mentioned to jbat66 that everywhere you look it looks like a picture from a calendar. Jbat66 was very helpful with directions and filling our fresh water. We enjoyed our stay!
We were westbound on I-80 with no intention to stay in Cheyenne. As happens sometimes, we had a mechanical failure and were stranded here for repairs to our tow vehicle. Murphy's Law: It happened during the Frontier Days celebration and there were no vacancies at any campground for over 50 miles.
"Home on the Range" saved us and what a pleasant stay it was. A true renaissance couple: J can fix/ repair most anything and P is a virtual Wikipedia for Wyoming and environs.
The prairie views are majestic and there was always a breeze to cool things down, even in late July.
Directions are easy if you follow the host's instructions. Rand- McNally GPS was confused- glad we did not follow it.
Would definitely stay again.
This was our first Boondockers stay and the bar had been set very high, a great host and beautiful ranch location. I got the opportunity to freshen up my tractor driving skills by mowing with the John Deere & Brush Hog.
We had a great stay with the Home on the Range. They were responsive and helped us find the place at night when our GPS led us astray. Other guests were spaced out and the parking spot was flat. Fresh, cold water refIll was offered. A welcome breeze blew most of the time we were here. The landscape and view is incredible and we have really come to love Wyoming thanks to good and gracious hosts. It was just what we needed after a long week of driving in the heat with no AC. Thank you!
Great host, letting me come in late! The Vista is amazing. Rolling pasture - Home on the Range!
What a nice place to stay! Convenient and easy to find. Will be our first choice when we pass through again!
Great place and wonderful hosts that worked with us in spite of a last minute personal issue.
Thank you so much and we hope to stop in again on our way through.
On arriving at this beautiful spot, we were met by our host, who explained that they had just lost a family member, so things might not be “normal “during our stay. I am not sure what a normal steak would be like, because our stay was awesome! We were shown the (Nice and level) field where most rvers stay, but our host kept offering to mow other areas on his 40 acres, if we preferred to choose a different spot. We were also hosted for a lovely evening on their patio, with another guest, and were plied with fresh fruit a nice wine. Another day we were able to tour our host’s rig and take a closer look at his E bike towing set up. Again, we are grateful that they not only honored our stay in the midst of a family loss, but went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Good people.
Highly recommend this host! Beautiful property with gorgeous views! Hopefully we can return one day
We had a great stay at this location. Host was very nice. Thanks!
We couldn't have asked for a better Boondockers Welcome experience! Jim and Paula are an amazing couple and their land is so beautiful and quiet. They know so much about the area and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. Our night around the fire was a real treat. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely return. It felt like we were saying goodbye to family.
We are grateful for our stay with such a great view and wide open space. The countryside is so immense. Host put us on a good flat spot and we slept good. Rain stated shortly after we set up and lasted most of night. Would have had a hard time on the dirt road without 4WD but we made it out ok. Had to find a car wash though!
You have to visit this unique location to understand the beauty and scale of the open plain. Thank you again to our host for this experience, great camping spot, and the amenities. We enjoyed the plains, the wildlife, and discovered what a breezy day really means. Hope we get to visit again.
Our hosts were welcoming, gracious, and extremely informative. We got set up and they invited us over for a camp fire which was lovely. The views are amazing and great for the soul. Roads leading to the property were dirt but bet well kept. The only negative thing I have to say is that we didn't have time for a longer stay! We'll certainly find our way back to stay again.
So wonderful to have a safe place during COVID. Would definitely stay again!
Host was very welcoming. Our view was spectacular. It was easy in and easy out, quiet and relaxing for a quick stay.
It is easy to imagine days gone by when you sit outside overlooking the prairie. The vastness is breathtaking. If you have mountain bikes I suggest you bring them along. We were given the opportunity to ride across the prairie on truck tracks or cow paths from isolated windmill to isolated windmill. The windmills give you an true appreciation for the importance and value of water on the prairie. If you don’t have a bike a nice hike would also be wonderful.
A special thanks to our welcoming hosts for inviting us to an evening campfire. We truly enjoyed hearing about the area and their historical experiences.
We highly recommend this Boondocking spot. It afforded me the chance to check off something on my bucket list—spending the night on the open prairie.
We enjoyed a very quiet, beautiful and welcoming night’s stay ar Home on the Range! We were welcomed in the driveway and had a delightful and informative chat with our amazing host. We were quickly guided to our place under the full moon. Wish we could have stayed longer and explored more😢. Highly recommend this beautiful location of a historic homestead to anyone passing this way! Thank you for your hospitality:-).
We thoroughly enjoyed Jim’s hospitality and help. His location is breathtakingly beautiful and is easy to access from I-80. Don’t worry about the “dirt” road. It is very well maintained and easy to navigate. The site where we parked was totally level and gave us a great view of the Wyoming countryside. Jim went out of his way by loaning us a power cord dogbone that he was using on his own RV. Many thanks for your kindness and generosity!
JBAT66 was a gracious host who provided me with an electricity hookup and offered water and directions to food and gas. The best part was the view of the high prairie. Probably 10 miles of grass with hardly any structures. It is easy to imagine ypu slipped back into the 1870s west.
Jim & Paula thank y’all again for allowing us to extend our stay at your peaceful place. We truly needed to relax and unwind and are so grateful for your generosity. When y’all are in Texas we would love to host y’all. We might visit in October on our way back home if y’all are available? I will message you after the 18th to see what the doctor says about your wrist. Praying 🙏🏻
I cooked dinner and invited our hosts. We ate outside on their patio and social distanced. We really enjoyed getting to know Paula. We shared some of our life’s stories. We were able to see a herd of antelope and deer up on the hill. It was a good way to end the day. This is such a peaceful and quiet place we are staying a few more days.
The hosts were so gracious allowing us to stay last minute on a Saturday as our previous plans didn't work out. We were nervous about scrambling to find a spot. It was SO quiet and peaceful. We pulled into their field and it was totally level for us! We have loved staying at Boondockers Welcome places on acreages because we want to buy land and want to experience what it's like being away from the city. Thanks so much for letting us stay on your land for a few days on our way to Colorado!
Jbat66 are wonderful hosts. Greeted us when arrived and even helped me get hooked up in the rain. I was very grateful for the help. The location is level and has a great turnaround/pull through for any size rig. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular here. The antelope come out to play on the road and if you’re an early riser it’s a thrill to watch them play. It’s very peaceful and quite here at Home on the Range. We needed medication shipped to us and the host allowed us to have it shipped here. They are the nicest people you will ever meet. We still have not been able to get a monthly place to stay in Montana and the hosts graciously told us we can extend our stay and we did. We are so glad we joined Boondockers Welcome and found this wonderful place and met these beautiful people.
Privacy abounds. Out in the country, views forever. Was there for a pretty impressive summer storm
Enjoyed chatting with the hosts and another guest, would stay again
Lovely site, welcoming hosts, would love to stay again!!
Property was easy to get to, very level and generally just a great spot. Hosts were very friendly and helpful!!! Highly recommended!!
jbat66 were very generous & accommodating; I was allowed to stay 3 weeks while waiting for my job that was already 2 months on hold. I had ordered a number of things and they were sometimes left at the PO instead of their mailbox, jbat66 even went to the extra trouble to pop over to the PO to pick up the last of them on the day I left. I’ll be heading back in that direction this fall, I will definitely stay over for the 5 or less day limit. I was “hidden” behind the barn to keep my “girls🐾” from causing too much annoyance and to block some of the wind. jbat66 were very helpful.
Beautiful and large ranch that offer plenty of choice spots to stay. Truly Wyoming at its best. We enjoyed sitting around after supper and exchanging adventures. Thank you for your hospitality.
I’ve ordered several things and Home on the Range has been very accommodating accepting them.
Home on the Range was very welcoming. We enjoyed sitting around their beautiful fire pit and chatting and we loved the beautiful landscape there! We are so grateful for them having us. It is a fantastic place to rest for a bit.
HomeOnTheRange has been awesome, they check in regularly to see if I end anything, and let me “hide” behind the “barn” to get some blockage from the winds when pop up occasionally. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing that would make this PERFECT would be if there were animals around 🤪, but I did get to see/visit with their “2 kids🐾“
This was a great location. Our hosts were very welcoming and made sure to check in on us to see if we needed anything. Amazing views and great wildlife. This has been our favorite Boondockers place yet!
Very welcoming and helpful. Enjoyed the wildlife. Cows near every day with calves. Grouse, meadowlarks, swainson hawk working the fields. Kept us and our binoculars busy.
We’ve enjoyed staying at Home on the Range. It has been a very peaceful and relaxing experience. The times we’ve gotten to interact with our hosts has been very positive and enjoyable even with the distancing we are all facing in our world right now. Our hosts have been very welcoming and accommodating as well as attentive. We highly recommend Home on the Range 👍
Since social distancing is currently the norm we haven’t had much interaction with our host. When we do see and speak to each other it’s very pleasant. Usually talk about the events of the day. I’m sure under different circumstances we both would be interacting a lot more. They’re very friendly people.
Because of the virus we’ve all kept our appropriate distance but have also had good conversation. Very nice couple, very welcoming, very pleasant surroundings. Would definitely recommend staying there.
What a wonderful couple ! My first time using “Boondocker’s” and my first experience was perfect! jbat66 and his wife were so very welcoming, offered me water and electricity.... number of options to park my rig. We had a great conversations. Their Australian Cattle Dogs got to meet one of their cousins, my ACD puppy! Will surely be back on my return trip! Thank you !!
