Late 50s widower who travels when I can. I have been RVing for a few years. am waiting to fully retire a second and final time so I can travel more. I have an extensive bucket list and can't wait to start checking it off.
Jack of all, but master of none. Handy with a wrench and have friends who are VERY handy with everything needed to keep an RV on the road. I am also a budding chef so if you show up on the right night you may get a great meal.

Sorry I missed this couple, by all account from my staff, they were excellent guests. Maybe another time, always welcome at Big Daddy's.
This couple was so quiet that I hardly knew they were here. I look forward to hosting them again in the future and getting to know them better. You can't go wrong hosting this couple.
We had such a delightful visit with these folks!
They stayed four nights. So glad they stopped
here on their New England tour.
Looking forward to spending time with them again!
We love this spot and hope to return. The host helped us immediately after Google had us turn early coming from the west. Follow Phil ‘s directions no Google! 🤓Look for the BlueDolphin! (Actually easier to enter the driveway from the east)
Anyway , we most highly recommend Country Living 2.0– spacious, peaceful and enjoyable!
We needed a quick rest over on our way to Tennessee and this was the perfect spot. We arrived at dusk and pecooper was extremely accommodating and made sure that we were comfortable and prepared for the cold night.
We are just blown away with the generosity and kindness these hosts have! We were so grateful for such a welcoming, safe and beautiful property to spend two nights at. We changed our route when we found a cool gem mining place about an hour from here and requested our stay last minute. We got a quick response with helpful directions to find their place. Quiet, private, safe and friendly... the perfect boondocking experience! Thank you so much!
Oh and thank you so much for the awesome local recommendations! Made our time here even more special.
Cooper was super welcoming via text even though he wasn't home. He made sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. It's a quiet area with beautiful sights.
We truly enjoyed our first BW stay here.
We are incredibly thankful for to Philip for accepting our last minute request to overnight at his quiet location. We had a break down the previous day and were having transmission issues so we wanted to do a short travel day and then be able to check out our mechanical problems. Philip was quick to respond to our same day stay request and we were able to do our mechanical checks before dark. We then had a wonderfully quiet and restful night to catch up on our sleep after a few stressful days travel. The location is a bit off the beaten path but it is well worth the short side trip to enjoy his peaceful setting. Terry & Maya.
Phil was wonderful! He not only accepted our request on short notice when another place we had booked got canceled unexpectedly, but let us stay even when he wasn't home. Beautiful location, peaceful, quiet.
This was our very first time boondocking and it was great! The host was very welcoming and the property is absolutely beautiful. Being newbies to the RV way of life, we didn't know what to expect so this was a nice surprise. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks!
Fantastic hosts. Was not able to meet as he was gone. but was kind enought to trust us to stay at his property. The communications. Where. Great. Which always helps.
Plenty of space, incredibly friendly and welcoming Host, quiet rural location... very enjoyable stay. Very grateful for letting us stay on short notice to get out of Dorian’s path. Thank you so very much!
Such welcoming and friendly hosts. Plenty of room on their property and 50 amp hookups! Lots of space for our dogs to run arounds and even baby foxes to peek at in the morning! This is a MUST STAY!
We enjoyed our 2nd stay as much as the first. You're really treated like old friends. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Easy drive to WS for dinner or entertainment. We'll be back!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. It was a nice large space for our bus with a 50amp hook up. The host was so kind and welcoming, and we felt so at home!! We only planned on staying one day but stayed two because we enjoyed it so much (and probably would’ve stayed longer if we didn’t have somewhere else to be). The host let us hangout in the basement where it was nice and cold so we could escape the heat outside! Thank you so much for welcoming us to your beautiful home, we are looking forward to coming back when we are near the area again!
Our first BDW stay was a great experience out at Phil’s place. He helped navigate us down onto the gravel pad and helped us park. He also had electric available for us which was a life saver in the 90 degree heat. His property is so nice for evening walks with great views of rolling hills. It was so quiet and peaceful, we really enjoyed our time. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
Phillip is a fantastic person and we had a great time at his peaceful country space near Walnut Cove. Highly recommend staying here .
An easy drive to Greensboro or Winstom Salem if you desire to go. The most peaceful setting we've stayed at yet with BDW. The hosts are welcoming and KNOW the ediquet of Southern Hospitality! Room for our dogs to roam off leash and plenty of room for us to completely turn around our 30' RV with Jeep attached. The pad is level and dry during our visit. WAIT ON HOST, however, to guide you down onto pad....he knows where you'll need to position on the way down so you don't drag. We followed his instructions and we had no issues. We'll be back to visit again!.
Host was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kids were thrilled to play in the woods and with Emma (the dog ).
What a wonderful, peaceful Boondocking experience! ! Phil was an awesome host. This was our first boondocking experience and it could not have been better. Phil provided us with a beautiful site on the side of his most spacious driveway. We were so excited to be able to see great sun rises and sun sets...We were also treated to sightings of Bared Owls that come by every evening. Our first evening we got to know Phil and his delightful son, Sam...we felt like old friends by the end of the evening. Phil's beautiful lab and our dog Clancy had a great time romping around...on the Cooper's lovely, private property.
We also met several of Phil's neighbors...everyone was very friendly and helpful. We missed Mrs. Cooper as she was visiting her daughter in law and grand-daughter. Phil made sure we had electric and water and that was an extra bonus. All we can say is if you want to meet some great people and also need a great Boondocking site ..then Country Living with the Coopers must be on your list. Thank you so much! Nannette and Peter McDonald
Everything was as stated. Lovely quiet location on dirt road with very little slow traffic.Host was very accommodating. Level spot with 30amp hook up. Easy to turn around spot. Would have no hesitation of going back. Had some good conversation with host. Very friendly.
Host was very helpful finding a part I needed for my RV.
Having a home base to explore the NC countryside was what I needed and got it with this host.
Interesting talks, hope to return.
We ended up asking Phil and his wife if we could stay here on a very short notice and they graciously accepted our request within hours. We had to evacuate our campsite due to a hurricane so it meant A LOT to us to be able to have a safe place to stay at “Country Living.” Phil is a darling of a host and he went out of his way to help us get settled in when we arrived. P.s the drive in is really pretty and serene. I highly recommend having a stay here! Thank you SO MUCH! You guys were a blessing.
I stayed here for two nights this week and it was a fantastic experience! They made me feel right at home and made sure I had a great stay. Although it was my first time Boondocking, I am sure you won't come across hosts this great any time soon. I truly hope I get the opportunity in the future to come back to NC or to welcome you in Canada/Holland. Thank you so much, could not have asked for a better place or hosts!
Generous welcoming hosts. More than accommodating. They made us feel at home and we enjoyed sharing travel stories together.
Love these two! Wish I could have stayed longer this time but had to hit the road. Always clear communication, great area to stay. Of course my pups never wanted to leave!
This was my first time using Boondocker‘s it was a wonderful experience and location very quiet
my host was very friendly
not only did he give me a place to stay but he allowed me to use his camper which was air-conditioned on a very humid night
I have can only make positive comments about this gentleman
I highly recommend this location which he is expanding to receive more visitors His Conversation and company was very much appreciated being new to the area as a traveler from New York and it was good to meet another American who has( still is) served his country and is an assets to this community sorry for the slow response been on the road etc
The hospitable "Country Living" duo are a simply a barrel of fun and as thoughtful as can be. And their Lab is a sweetie!
The access is easy, surroundings beautiful, and groceries/supplies are less than five minutes away. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting them in return one day!
Thanks for hosting us, y'all!
How much fun can one person have?! As soon as I pulled up I was guided to a level parking spot. But wait..I was contacted before I even was on my way checking what I needed!
Fun, fun people, great coffee and company! Phil shared his experience with training his dog, helped me so much with my two dogs. They had such a blast running, exploring and visiting their dog Emma
Thanks you two, love to visit again on our way back!
