I recently retired on October 28,2016. My very first job I worked was B and M Racing Transmissions in North Hollywood,CA. Looking back I was so fortunate to have such a great job. We'd go to Bakersfield for the Smoker's Meet. My 1967 Chevelle was even used in a magazine advertisement. I really miss that car.
The company started a motorhome division by the name of Sports Coach Corporation.
Reluctantly I started working for Sports Coach until the gas shortage caused the company to close.
How amazing I might have been influenced by those motorhomes.
My next job was still related to racing ( worked for a funny car race driver) we sold domestic marble for terrazzo flooring and hydro fuel for the other race car drivers.
Looking back my job career after these jobs became very average.
I did work for a local school for 15 years as a teachers aide and school bus driver.
Luckily driving my RV is a little easier from learning to drive school buses.
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley area in southern California.
In 1988 I moved to Somerset where I reside currently. I'm surrounded by vinards oaks and pines I have almost 2 acres with my small home and my even smaller guest house that is currently rented to one of my friends.
I like to think I started the small house movement. For a single person it's great. If I have company my RV is my extra bedroom.
Love to bake and discover new recipes to share with friends.
Meeting new people and learning from their travels.
I have 2 border collies Beautrice and Boudine along with my 2 cats. Also chickens that I share their eggs with my Boondockering.com visitors. But when traveling I only have my dogs.
Somerset is my zip code address but actually I live in Fairplay. I'm surrounded by vineyards. Most beautiful season is the fall when the grapevines are showing there beautiful colors. Fairplay Vineyards are the highest elevation between 2000 and 3000 feet in growing grapes in California. Just 14 miles from Placerville known as "Old Hangtown" during the discovery of gold. Sacramento and Lake Tahoe is about an hour away along with Yosemite is almost 4 hours away. Travel the famous Hwy 49 and discover charming little towns of the golden history of Northern California.
I purchased my Class C in August of 2016. I think I was influenced by my mother who encouraged me from heaven to buy. It was her birthday and she loved to travel and camp. I didn't think I'd buy a 29 foot but the interior is beautiful. It has 2 slide outs with a outside kitchen and a hugh flat screen TV. That's what you call glam camping.
Freedomelite was amazing! So welcome and open to share her beautiful property! We loved the trees, birds, chickens, and the two adorable pups. Right in the middle of the charming wineries of Fairplay! Still smiling from our wonderful weekend... thank you Freedomelite! We hope to be back as soon as we can!
We'd been on the road for three weeks and loved relaxing in the green gardens of our host. I played ball with the friendly easy-going dogs and my husband helped out in the garden. It was just what we needed after touring the dusty deserts of the Eastern Sierra. Our host was warm and personable, and we enjoyed meeting family and hearing more about the area. We could have gone wine tasting, seen Placerville, or countless other things. But we just hung around.
It was lovely.
A beautiful setting to park our trailer. Our host was so nice and helpful, especially in giving us directions on the best route to take. Loved her two sweet dogs Bo and Blue. Wish we could have spent more time there. We'll be back in the future.
I had a very pleasant time here. The hostess is set in a beautiful setting on 2 acres. But what loved most was her sweet friendly dogs. I lost my dog a few months back and sure do miss the fur hugs.
Freedomlite and I had great convo when I arrived. She is very accommodating and that evening was quiet and very dark lol.
Note : one of the roads in, Bucks Bar, is pretty windy and steep descent towards end. Totally doable in any rv but wanted to note for future visitors. The drive is worth the stay. 😄
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Freedomlite! Beautiful location and great to visit with her and the puppies!
We had a lovely overnight stay at Peace on Earth after a day of playing at Apple Hill and the surrounding area. Freedomelite was warm and welcoming and easy to communicate with before and during our stay. We wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to get to stay again and explore more of the beautiful region!
This is our second stay we've enjoyed with Freedomelite and it was truly an enjoyable time. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday by doing some wine tasting at a number of the local wineries, which by the way if you have not taken the opportunity to try the wines here in the area you are really missing out. We were able to visit for a little bit on Sunday prior to us heading back home, I have to say we are looking forward to coming back again sometime soon. Thank you for being so hospitable :)
It was a hot afternoon, but I'm referring to the warm welcome we received from Freedomelite. She helped us get settled and hooked up to electric. Two lovely dogs and lots of interesting birds in a nice wooded setting.
We are so pleased with the host at Peace On Earth. We needed some extra help getting into our spot and she was very accommodating. Always pleasant in spite of our problem With her help, “Zip!” and it was done We highly recommend her AND her 2 very friendly doggies.
This rural property in the Sierra foothills is cool, flat, with plenty of room. The host is very welcoming and warm. Thank you!
Peace on earth is a beautiful oasis tucked in the hills near Placerville. Freedomelite (it says not to use real names in the review) was the sweetest host, and had such a beautiful property and two adorable friendly dogs. We loved our stay, we felt safe and slept well, would definitely stay again!
Nice level spot with flowering tree, rural neighborhood, very nice host! Fast and clear communications. Thank you!!!
This spot is wonderfully rural, secure, and nice. Owner welcomed me when I arrived and let me borrow a couple of needed items. It was a grassy spot next to a clean, unused corral. I parked behind a gate and felt very secure. Delightful! Thank you!
Freedomelite was so warm and welcoming to us. Her home and farm were lovely--flowers blooming, mint growing and the smell of freshly mowed pasture. We stayed at the farm the entire two days, just wanting an escape from our shelter-in-place home with our dog. The two dogs on the property were delightful.
It was very easy to pull our trailer into the spot and hook up to electricity and water.
We are quite familiar with the area and hope to return later in the summer to go wine tasting and hiking.
I gave this visit a positive rating even though I could not access the site with my 34 foot Fifth Wheel. Access is on a slope where manoeuvring is difficult. I would recommend that RVs with a total length of more than 30 feet not use this site. The host was very warm and welcoming and felt very bad that we could not access the site. She did offer a site just outside her property where we stayed the one night. There are many lovely wineries nearby in this quiet and secluded area. I would highly recommend a visit.
Freedomelite was a wonderful host, before our stay she informed us that PG&E had shut down the power for fire danger in the area letting us know to bring our generator and fill our tank since she was on a well pump. She also giving us the best route in for our rig as there are a lot of narrow winding roads in the area. After we arrived and got set up we were able to visit for a while and let the dogs meet and play for a bit then we were off to visit a couple wineries a nice dinner and back for a relaxing evening. We were all busy the next day off on our adventures for the day came back that evening to BBQ and drink a glass of wine or two. Sunday we visited a couple more wineries, came back to pack up visit and said our "see ya next time". Freedomelite has a wonderful place very peaceful and quiet, we really enjoyed her hospitality and conversation and look forward to coming back again!
It’s a privilege to meet Terry and to stay at her place. Lovely site and very welcoming person.
Thanks for all ❤️
Such a beautiful soul with a beautiful location! We enjoyed our stay and felt so welcome!
I had a wonderful stay . We became fast friends ! I was able to explore the area . There is a pool to enjoy ,it's less then half a mile from awesome wineries.,and the sweetest animals ever ! It was hard to leave !
It's hard to find the words to describe how much we LOVED our time at "Peace on Earth"-- and how much we absolutely LOVED our time shared with Freedomelite. She and her adorable doggos are incredibly kind, generous, welcoming and helpful. We--and our doggo--found a wonderful shelter from our crazy road travels in the peace and quiet of her purely magical home amongst the vineyards. The stars above have never shined more brightly than the ones shining on her and her beautiful home.
Wonderful shaded spot, amazing scenery in wine country. Host and family were very gracious host! Be prepared as it is hilly and difficult to navigate in spots for longer RVs
I stayed two nights at Freedomlite’s lovely property. My stay was peaceful and I enjoyed the quiet county setting. She is in the heart of the Fairplay wine country which is known for some wonderful boutique wineries. Highly recommend.
Even though Freedomelite had planned to be out of town upon our arrival, she was more than welcoming, ensured everything was taken care of for us, and checked in with us several times. Her pets were as hospitable as she was, and they were so great with our nervous dog. It was peaceful and restful, and the stars were absolutely amazing. I even sat out in the cold one evening just to gaze while her pups kept me company.
Even better, Freedomelite returned sooner than expected and was an absolute joy. We loved exploring the area with her and she even invited us to stay longer to ring in the New Year with her and hers. We will definitely stay again and may even take some adventures together! We found not only a great place to stay but made a new friend too.
Our host was very nice and she accommodated our needs with a sweet spot on her property. We had no trouble finding it but the roads in the area are curvy and hilly. We unhooked our TOAD once we got off the main road. We enjoyed playing with her 3 friendly dogs. We would enjoy staying here again if we are in the area.
Staying at Freedomelite's place was great, she was super welcoming and friendly.
We also loved meeting her dogs and one of the cats had a good nose around the van too!
We'd have loved to stay for longer but had to leave early to get on the road.
Freedomelite’s Place was just what we wanted - quiet, laid-back and dog friendly. We enjoyed a good night’s sleep with stars above. FreedomElite was a lovely Host and is welcome to our home anytime!!
It was a great visit and will go back soon
We loved our stay. What a nice and quiet place. And Freedomelite is a wonderfull person. 5 ⭐️
We're so happy we came here, and so grateful to Terry for her incredible hospitality and beautiful soul. We've gained not just a wonderful experience but also a friend for life.
We are so happy to stay here and met the host. We arrived after dark, but the host is really helpful and welcoming us. We talked next morning and it was so wonderful to meet such a good person. We will keep in touch and will come back to visit again, thanks a lot!
Freedomelite couldn't have been more accommodating! Great conversation and a true joy to be around. She has chickens so she gladly gave us fresh eggs and even gave us our own green onion plant to grow on the go! So thankful we met Freedomelite and hope we meet again!!
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying with Freedomelite. We were made to feel extremely welcome in a pleasant rural setting and our host even gave us a dozen fresh eggs. We were very fortunate to be able to stay there on short notice and highly recommend this host.
