We are both originally from Ohio. In 1982 John was transferred by NCR Corporation to Phoenix, AZ to the administration office. Gerri accepted an accounting supervisor job at Phelps Dodge Corporation, we purchased a home and worked hard to fulfill our dream of retiring to the full time lifestyle. We both took early retirement and in December of 1999 we put our house up for sale on a Thursday, sold it on Saturday and 30 days later we moved into our 5th wheel. We didn't have a truck but had a Freightliner RV Hauler on order. We left Phoenix in March of 2000 heading to Livingston, TX "to get legal" In 2003 we were offered a leased lot at the Escapees Co-Op "RoVers Roost" in Casa Grande, AZ. We traveled another 15 years enjoying family and friends along the way and returning to Casa Grande every November to winter with our Escapee family and volunteer our time at the Co-Op. in March of 2014 we sold our Freightliner, tied down our 5th wheel on our lot and headed out in our 2014 Honda Accord for a different adventure. While visiting our family in Ohio our daughter in GA found a Class C Winnebago Aspect for sale in her area. We fell in love with it, bought it and we now call it our "summer home". During the winter months we take it out of storage every month and go somewhere, whether it's to boondock out in the desert, visit our many friends in Yuma or attend a rally, we just love to travel.
John likes to woodcarve. We both are computer literate. Love to read but when we get around people we love to visit and relax.
We have no pets. We enjoy other people’s pets but with our lifestyle we find we don’t want to have to return at a certain time to feed or walk the dog.
BLM land anywhere available, Quartzsite, AZ in January for the big RV show. Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta park for two weeks while we volunteer our time. Some Elks Clubs. We travel all over.
We are originally from Ohio, lived and retired from Phoenix, AZ and are now legal Texans through the Escapee RV Clubs fabulous mail forwarding service in Livingston, which gives us our legal address. We winter on our leased lot in the Escapees Co-Op in Casa Grande, AZ.
Our 2010 Winnebago Aspect Class C is 31' with 3 slides. We are fully contained. We have 400 watts of solar and are used to boonbocking. We also have an onboard generator and if you hear it running it’s only because we want to use the coffee maker, Instant Pot or the microwave. No other reason to run it! We pull our 2014 Honda Accord on a tow dolly because of the CVT transmission.
We ended up exceeding our normal bedtimes trading old adventures around the campfire. We had a lot in common. We hope they will find their way back here sometime. Great Visit.
Thank you for scheduling a stop over for a few days stay. We were glad to have met up with you and make your travel stop as easy as possible. If you are ever in the area, we would welcome you back for a stay. Enjoy your travels and cheers.
Shopped for us, supplied us with fresh vegies & fruit & even repaired a ladder - who could ask for more. And most impressive, they put up with a guard dog that would not let them into their own rig!
Super cool couple ready to jump right in, we were excited to host The Buckeyes as we have similar interest, low and behold, they are spot on, ready to go to check out the local sites, even things as crazy as a Cleaning Museum, we hope to see them again fairly soon, he has a wealth of knowledge from my wife's home state and she has lots of stories, and let me tell ya, she can cook an amazing meal, (ready for round two) they are welcome back anytime. See you soon!
John and Gerri have a way to make you feel like you have always known them. They are truly the poster child for Boondockers Welcome, so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed Gerri being the spark for a wonderful potluck dinner she is quite the hostess and so organized and charming. John is a great conversationalist, he shared much about their travels and being the rv warrior had great advice for the newbie travelers. I hope we have the pleasure of their return whenever they travel our way.
