We've lived in FL all our adult lives and have a Stick & Brick on a couple acres about 40 miles NW of Tampa, 5 miles from the gulf. We have invited boondockers to stay with us in the past and have always enjoyed their company. Well behaved children are welcome.
We are not fond of in-your-face, yapping, noisy, snippy, licking, or very hyper pets, but have no problems with a couple of well behaved pets that are picked up after.
We raised 6 kids and have 15 grands scattered around the country, so we are often on the road visiting & exploring, but usually home Nov through April.
Guests welcome for 1-2 nights. Can connect to good well water and to 15amp exterior plug if needed. Would appreciate a couple $ to defray electric only if using significant ac or electric heat, otherwise not necessary. Generator use is fine. Wifi available, provided not extreme use such as large downloads. Some folks have difficulty connecting if they don't have a strong reciever or booster.
Former nurse, former computer systems analyst.
We have no pets.
We often stay at highway rest stops, Flying J, or Walmarts in between destinations. Would like to stay in prettier places, but our motorhome size & weight often preclude that.
Hudson is an unincorporated town on the NW edge of the Tampa Bay Area. All the advantages of a small town but close (35 min-1 hr) to the amenities of bigger cities - Tampa, Clearwater, St Petersburg, Lakeland. We have nearby a small beach with a nice open-air beach bar, and are 45 min -1.5 hr from world's greatest beaches (Dunedin & Clearwater). A County park, reastaurants, propane, dump sites, Walmart, many other stores nearby. Weeki Wachee State Park (home of the mermaids & great kayaking river) 10 miles north. 2 hrs. to Disney/Orlando. 50 min. to Crystal River (swim with the manatees!).
39ft class A motorhome, diesel, '02 Alpine Coach, 2 slides. GVW: 33,000 lbs. (Warning - Very Heavy, may sink in even semi-solid ground or crack standard driveways -has happened before). Pulling an '02 Ranger Edge Pickup. Both in good condition, basic tan(MH) & white(truck) colors. Nothing obtrusive.
Excellent location. Lots of trees and close to amenities. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this location to others travelling in the area.
My brother and I arrived on Sunday morning February 15th around 5 p.m. Both hosts greeted us with big smiles and waved us in. Guided us to a nice shaded area amongst the trees in their backyard. Great little spot...hydro, water, wi-fi and lots of room for our Border Collie pup to run on her long tie-out. Both hosts very helpful as they supplied an adapter for our power cord and offered lots of information on the local tourist attractions.
We would highly recommend "rosegramma" to anyone else travelling in the Hudson area. Thank you again! You made our first Boondocking experience a memorable success!
These folks are caring and nice. Enjoyed talking to them and hope to see them on the road or at our house. Hope they get the van of their dreams.
It’s been very peaceful Lois and her husband are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I have really enjoyed their company more than I can say.
One word...FANTASTIc!!!!!!!!!!tanks you Very Very much!!!!!
This was my second time staying in Millers Backyard. These are two folks who are the epitome of what the Bookdockers Welcome experience is all about. Friendly, accommodating and have an excellent property and location for the nomadic boondocker. While they were hosting me, they also hosted a delightful young couple from Quebec. Lois & John are consummate Boondockers Welcome hosts. I look forward to staying with them again in the future. Thanks, guys - you do it right!
Beautiful home and property that easily accommodated our rig and car without having to unhook. Lois and John are so friendly and easy to talk to. They made sure we were comfortable and hooked up to electric and water. Quiet area for a good night's rest.
We had a short stay and wish we had more time to spend with our hosts. We chatted in the evening and again in the morning before we had to rush off. The milk for our cereal had gone sour and our kind host brought some out to us from her kitchen! How helpful is that?!?
We enjoyed our stay very much with Lois and John, aka rosegramma. The site was perfect and the welcome we received was inviting. Although we stayed only one night, Lois and John felt like old friends when we left.
We were warmly welcomed and had a nice visit. They knew the area well and helped us with a couple of beach suggestions for us and our small dogs. We were a long way from home and they made part of our trip feel very home like. The coffee in the early morning at our outdoor table was a special touch. Would love to go back sometime just to relax with them in their lovely yard.
We feel very welcome, and they we're very-carefully when we contacted this host. This feeling became true when we arrived.
Our plan was to go to the Dali museum, so we were a little in a hurry the next morning and we missed the coffee and the breakfast, she offered, and that was a pity.
Thank you very much.

Wow! You couldn't ask for nicer and more helpful hosts. John and Lois are awesome. I spent two days and everything was perfect. They provided shore power, water and great info on the local area and things to do, places to see. I have two more wonderful friends from the RVing and Vandwelling lifestyle. Thanks for a wonderful stay, John and Lois.
Wonderful people I'm so glad I got to know them. They hooked me up with electricity water I even had Wi-Fi available.
They parked me out besides her gazebo where we had a good time visiting. Hope to get to stay there again with them or have them visit me up in New Hampshire
I don't know if it was our beginner's luck or all the hosts around here are so nice, but Lois and John were wonderful. We're new to the RV world and they were wery helpful and took grate care of us. Thanks!
Lois and John are awesome, great visit. Ask about the rules...
We really enjoyed our visit with Lois and her family. They made us feel so welcome. When we left there we were headed to the keys and Lois went out of her way to help us with reservations is that area. A special thanks to her for that help. Couldn't have done so well without it. They are highly recomended.
