Originally from London, England, spent some years in Europe before emigrating to Montreal, Canada in 1967. Spent a couple of years in Prince Edward Island and moved to my present base in Ottawa, Ontario, although I browse North America 24/7.
Spent 2016-17 winter in my Roadtrek, in Arizona, where I joined the Solos group of the Escapees RV Club.. Forced to spend several months of 2017-18 winter in Ottawa - Brrrh! - due to small fire. 2018 spent the winter in and around Arizona, largely with Solos: Quartzsite, Yuma, Tucson ....
October 2019 I traded my much-loved Roadtrek for more space: a 2007 20ft Wilderness trailer and a half-ton pickup truck. I spent most of the winter in Arizona, until my medical insurer gave me 10 days to return to Canada.
In the pouring rain, my trailer had an argument with a pothole on the US93N - and lost (see pic). The Wilderness now rests in pieces in Arizona. Although suffering a major redesign at the rear, my truck proves the value of making sure you have a well-maintained tow vehicle, with lots of reserve power. Had I not had the RAM 5.7 Hemi, we could all be still resting permanently in Arizona.
I am currently in search of a new trailer while the truck is in for 3 weeks of repairs.:) I am one lucky lady!
My big loves are warm weather/sun, sailing, horse riding, easy walking and the great outdoors. Mostly positive, I am always game to try something new. I enjoy both sharing with other people and spending time alone.
My mother tongue is english, and I speak french, german, spanish and one or two words of russian. This was a great asset in my business life, where, alongside my admin skills, I gained considerable experience in PR and problem-solving.
I have worked, both part- and full-time, in a variety of administrative environments, doing all kinds of things over the years. I have worked alongside lawyers, directors, clerical staff, business owners,...I have also spent time working/volunteering at race tracks (motor racing), as well as at musical, equestrian, sailing and other events.
I thoroughly enjoy my retirement and am constantly finding activities that fill my days to overflowing. RVing is fulfilling my desire to travel.and a small motorhome filled the bill for 3 years. In 2019-20 I enjoyed the relative luxury of the truck/trailer combo, and hope to continue in this vein. One thing has embarrassed me though, and startled my neighbours: firing up a little truck that bursts into song like a Harley Davidson.
Love animals, especially dogs and horses, but no longer have any pets.
Some experience now with boondocking, and marvelous experiences with Boondockers Welcome, which bring me into contact with RVers of all kinds. I know I am learning a great deal from my Hosts, and hope that I am also able to make a useful contribution.
Born London, England, now make my base in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I finding it difficult to have to spend half the year outside the (southern) U.S. as that is where I have mostly found my RV friends. Hopefully, I will be able to spend summer doing good stuff in Canada, as I have found RVers in that part of the world.
I have just traded my 2001 Roadtrek for a 2007 20' Wilderness by Fleetwood travel trailer. This is now my fulltime home, and I am truly enjoying the space and all the mod cons. What luxury! Before I load it with 1500 lbs of stuff, it weighs 6400lbs, so it needed something substantial to drag it around :) I settled on a 2014 RAM 1500 Sport with quad cab and lots of miles. Right now the box travels empty as I look for pennies and an expensive accessory, so I can use that space.. Very smart black and white rig. I found the trailer mostly by accident in Stratford, Ontario, and then trekked to Ottawa for the truck, where I also picked up the seats and cushions to restore the Roadtrek to its pristine condition before I ran it 24/7 for three years. L I left Stratford on: Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot.....Fireworks' night across the Pond. Had my Nexus interview and rolled all the way to Hohenwald TN, where the temperatures have been barely higher than in Ottawa - just a bit less snow. Onwards and upwards to the desert for a few months. More later.
A quiet and unobtrusive visit - welcome back anytime.
Be safe: have fun: don't hurt anyone!
Thanks for the very pleasant visit. A great guest respectful and quiet.
Thanks for all the RV tips and good luck on your future travels.
Wantok is a very quiet guest, it’s like she isn’t there.
Lovely lady and experienced RV’er. Unobtrusive but friendly. The day of arrival we sat and chatted over a glass of wine and some munchies. Great stories and experiences worth hearing. You are welcome back at any time.
Wantok is soooo quiet and doesn’t take a lot of space. It’s like she’s not there, have a great summer.
While we were away travelling, it was reassuring to have Wantok keep an eye on the place
Wantok stayed with us for a second time this summer on her way thru. Always a pleasure to host and visit with.
This was my first experience as a host and I enjoyed meeting Wantok - first for coffee, then secondly, when she came to stay. Patricia is quiet and has a sparkle in her eyes, and is the perfect guest. You can welcome Patricia without hesitation.
Happy to host you anytime. Great communication and super quiet. Happy travels!
This lovely guest asked to stay two nights at Cowster Side Lot - Aylmer.
We were pleased to be able to provide a safe haven for the visit and perform a book exchange for our reading pleasure.
Be safe; have fun; don't hurt anyone!
A wonderful guest who we were able to accommodate a little earlier than our "preferred" season and for an additional night. She is very quiet and self sufficient so we were glad when we had a chance to chat with her in the afternoons. If we have the opportunity to host her again we would not hesitate. Happy continued travels!
Wanton was a perfect guest! Enjoyed meeting her and getting to know her. Follow the warmth! Til we meet again. Safe travels
All of our guest have been great people and wantok was no exception, she was very interesting and we had a good visit . She spent two nights with us could have stayed as long as she wanted. Looking forward to seeing her next year if she comes this way.
Wantok ended up visiting for 2 nights due to another hosts cancellation. Had a great visit over tea one evening. She was a perfect guest, respectful of our property and a joy to visit with. We would welcome her back anytime when in the area.
Très bonne première expérience! Nous avons aimé vous connaître!
Bon voyage!
