Do you know or have you hosted this user?

We are both retired. Randy was a military pilot and a Human Resource and Training professional in his working life. Lori was a Human Resources Manager.

After retirement, we spent 15 winters cruising our sailboat in Florida and The Bahamas. For the first 10 of those years a motorhome was our summer residence and means of travel between Florida and our home province of Manitoba. Several years ago we bought a house and a couple of years ago we sold our sailboat. For the immediate future we're planning to spend our winters traveling the southern US in our motorhome.

We enjoy music and art, cultural events, food and wine, walking and biking. We are animal lovers and a little dog crazy.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Reasonable knowledge of RV systems and carpentry.

Sailorsrest's Pets

We have a rescued wire-haired dachshund named Baileywinkle (Bailey) who has been a great traveler. He especially loves running on the beach and digging for crabs (Bahamian badger).

Favorite Boondocking Locations

The boatyard in FLorida where we kept our boat was our favorite boondock location. We've also frequented Walmarts and Flying J's and have tried a few BLM sites in Arizona.

Sailorsrest's Hometown

Our desire to be near water influenced our decision to buy our retirement home in Gimli, Manitoba, a fishing village, resort town, and home to Crown Royal on the east shore of Lake Winnipeg.

Lovely rest!

R and L were welcoming and friendly! They provided water and ample electricity, and even allowed us to add a small tent in the backyard (we didn't use, or ask to use, any spikes). Their home is wonderfully located on the very edge of a small walkable area next to downtown. Just be aware that free wifi and early morning coffee shop access is scarce in Gimli. We enjoyed a lovely happy hour on the deck, and fun chats around our travels and retirement life. Highly recommend! Thank you, L and R, for making our first BoondockersWelcome experience so lovely and laid back. Hope to see you down the road!

New friends found

We had a wonderful time with our hosts. They were very accommodating. We shared a common past history of sailing the Bahamas and shared many stories. Really enjoyed ourselves.

Great hosts

We stayed with Sailorsrest for three nights and found them to be great hosts and very accommodating. We needed to stay an extra night for better weather to visit the snakes in Narcisse and they had no problems and even extended their invitation. Would love to return someday. Great couple. Many thanks to them!
