.We bought this place to get away from the fast lane. My family grew up in south Florida. Alice and I decided we needed a change. Now I rescue horses. We also have goats, ducks, geese, donkeys, dogs and cats. No pigs. We live the laid back southern life. If you mind visits in the morning from the horses, goats, and donkeys this place is not for you. They are all very friendly. You can have water ,garbage30 amp electric only but no dumpstation here.
When my kids were small and I was still in the Army we traveled a lot. I found it hard to find places to stop and camp in the states unless we went to a Park. That is why I put the camp sight on my property. We want people to enjoy our place .It is secure, safe, and open to people that want a place that is comfortable.I have had people here that wanted to be out in the woods and away from electric and hookups so I cleared out places for parking a RV in the woods on the other side of the pond. They are beautiful and peaceful and I know some will love them.
My horse pasture
Miami now here.
We don't have an RV but lots of room for those that do.
We only had a quick night here but it was very pleasant. Nice and quiet. Lots of space. Adorable animals. Host came by in the morning and we had a nice chat. We will definitely be back!
Need to be fully self-contained and you'll have a good time.
Super friendly hosts at an incredible location. Been close to horses, donkeys and goats, all are very friendly, was a great experience.
Unfortunately I was not able to stay because the grounds were too wet/soft from all the rains.
Be sure to check out the weather report and call ahead to find out the conditions of the grounds if you are in a heavy rig.
Extremely nice down to earth couple who have a lovely farm with animals you can feed and interact with. Highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a place to stay 😁
It was a very peaceful stay. Unfortunately they had a lot of rain. The field was very wet. Big Mike closed the gates so the donkeys couldn’t come to the campground. But they did come to greet us and when we first pulled in. It was a relaxing night sitting under the trees watching the donkeys, horses, ducks and goats in the distance.
Arrived on a Friday and left Sunday. 30amp power and water was provided for $15/night. Awoke our first morning to goats, donkeys and horses right outside our RV! How cool! The animals were super friendly and didn’t stink or act aggressive. We took our 2 year old with us and he was so thrilled with the animals. Nice dark sky at night too. Lots of skeeters so pack accordingly. We will stay again on our journey back later this year. 5 stars!
Nice quiet site back off the main road.
Site was fairly level.
We only met briefly with the host and she was helpful and personable.
The best part was being greeted in the morning by a group of friendly horses and donkeys.
We were prepared for our visit, we brought carrots and apples for them.
Unfortunately we only had time for a single night.
Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
Host greeted us upon arrival and told us we couldn't use the power. Thank goodness it wasn't hot. Even so the place is pretty and it was very quiet and peaceful. We did enjoy it
We arrived and got set up with no problems. The donkeys were out when we pulled in and were very friendly!!! We missed them when we got back from running errands. Big Mike stopped by and helped us park. Just one small note- there are 30 amp hookups available but only for 30 amp systems. You are not allowed to hook up your 50 amp system even with a surge protector and adapter. Not a big deal as we were only staying overnight and he said we could run our generator. Thanks for letting us come by!!
It was a great place to stop for the night. Thunderstorms prevented us from meeting Big Mike but he emailed detailed directions so had no problems entering the pasture and finding a spot to park. Thanks for your hospitality Big Mike.
Host is very gracious. Came over to greet me and tell me a little about his farm. Large level field to camp on. Many animals will come over to say hello and very gentle. He advised me that the donkeys can be aggressive with dogs they don’t know so I kept mine on a tight leash. Very quiet at night.
Had yet another magical stay at Big Mike's, and brought friends along this time! We loved feeding the animals apples and doing yoga in the pasture. We arrived late, but Big Mike came by in the morning to greet us and was most gracious and accommodating! He offered that we could go anywhere to visit the animals and different parts of the farm, use the pool, and even that we could get eggs from the chickens if we wanted! We were bummed we were only stoping through for one night, and it seemed he was too :) We will definitely be back again, hopefully for longer next time. Thank you!!!!
Very friendly host, even supplied basic electric. All and all a very nice stay.
Big Mike’s site consists of a large fenced pasture in which dry-docking is offered to the left and in which water and 30 amp power connections are available to the right. We chose to avail ourselves of the hookups for our overnight visit and we compensated our host for his generous offer of utilities. We experienced a peaceful night’s sleep and after waking, we had a blast feeding the horses and donkeys who approached us for handouts from the big bag of carrots we had packed. They were all so sweet and gentle! We also were joined by a number of mischievous goats who entered the pasture together. We were pleased to note that each of Mike’s four-legged ‘babies’ is individually named! Before departing, we enjoyed a long conversation with Big Mike and learned much about his past and his many years of service to our country for which we made sure to express our thanks. Big Mike’s passion for his property is very evident, as is his dedication to providing for his extensive rescued menagerie. God bless him for caring so much! We greatly appreciated his welcoming us briefly into his fold!
Mike and his family were very welcoming! This was a fantastic stop!
This place was magical. Waking up to horses and donkeys at the door was something I’ve never experienced before, and will always hold as a cherished memory!! My son keeps asking to go back.
Never expected we would enjoy sleeping at the zoo, but it was a joyful experience. It was like visiting the welfare office, (9 AM, everyone in line asking for a handout). Big Mike and his lovely wife were very friendly.
It was an amazing stay. Make sure to bring some carrots as well! The animals were friendly, and the host family was very welcoming as well. Overall an awesome place.
We had an awesome stay. Mike and his wife were very sweet and even showed us around. Donkeys are super friendly as well as horses. He even let us ride. Will definitely be returning for a longer stay in the future. Farm fresh eggs were a big plus also !
Was easy to find and very peaceful!! The horses & donkeys were very friendly.. camping in pasture was cool ground is a little bumpy & rutted out from traffic but was able to get level .. would definitely stop back again & stay longer then one night .. loved sitting by the pond and watching the ducks!!
Big Mike's was our 3rd BDW experience. Mike and Alice are nice folks. We liked them. Enjoyed the morning Horses, and Donkey visits. The other Boondockers were nice too.
Got there a little late and left a little early. Was even able to get several OTA TV channels.
Friendly host Big Mike provided a farm adventure with free boondocking including RV dump and water, or plug-ins for $15 in his pasture. Donkeys, goats, horses and ducks abound. Bring apples and carrots and come prepared to pet the neighbors! Family friendly fun and a great host.
We had a great night and beautiful morning on the ranch. Friendly animals and people. If you have the chance, stay here!
I loved feeding the goats donkeys and horses!!!!! I wish I would have brought more fruits and vegetables for them. It was great seeing them wandering around outside our rig.
We did miss the driveway for the Pasture, Just so anybody else knows, it’s the first gate on your left hand side, after you turn into the driveway, the gate is closed, so you have to open, get in, and close. So that you don’t let any of the animals out. What a great time and Mike is super nice. We would stay there again.
Big Mike and his wife are excellent hosts. Camping with very friendly donkeys, horses, and goats roaming about was fun. Bring apples and carrots to make friends. I hope we can camp there again.
We had a fun three days. Donkeys Greeted us in the morning, we got to visit Momma and baby goats.Saw chickens and geese, horses came right to the front RV door.
Relaxing, tranquil, setting‼️
Mr. Mike and his wife were very nice hosts. Our kids enjoyed playing in their land, and feeding the horses, donkeys, and goats. They also have ducks and chickens. It was a peaceful place to stay for almost all week. They allowed us to stay an extra day. We had full hookups and we appreciate that. We also got some packages delivered there, and got to ride our bikes. What other reviewers said it’s pretty accurate.
My stay was for only one night, traveling from Florida to South Carolina, and it was nice. Had a visit with Mike as he was setting some fence posts, and a visit with another camper with a really tricked out school bus. Had a nice conversation with him, but dang, I forgot to get a picture of that bus.
Big Mike is the perfect example of southern hospitality. Friendly and knowledgeable, gives you a map of the area upon arrival. It's quiet and peaceful but not far from town to get supplies. Great star gazing. You'll be in a pasture, pick your spot and it's yours! Lots of sun for solar too. The horses and donkeys are friendly as can be. Fun facts, the horses like bananas but the donkeys don't. The donkeys loved the little mandarin oranges I brought. Those little stinkers even figured out how to open my screen door on my RV to say hi and ask for treats. Whether it's just a quick overnight or a few days, this place is just great. I'll definitely keep this one on my list to return to.
What a fun stay! Big Mike's was easy to get to, right off the main roads. The field is huge and there are many spots with hookups, though I didn't need to use any for my quick stop. It was an exceptionally quiet night, and I was wondering if the animals were maybe somewhere else and not in the pasture. However, when I opened my blinds in the morning, they were everywhere! Horses, donkeys, and goats, oh my! I got to feed them some apples I happened to have with me, which they loved. They are definitely not shy. I spent a lot of time petting them all! My cat enjoyed watching them all through the windows as well, and they seemed to like seeing her as well. The field was a little choppy in places, but it was not too hard to find a path around it all to a spot. I could see some bigger rigs getting stuck though, especially if it was soft/muddy. I had a little trouble getting out as the donkeys didn't want to let me go and tried to come with me when I opened the gate, and then stood in front of the gate blocking the way when I closed it, but luckily help came in the form of someone who knew what they were doing to help shoo them away and let me out! Overall, it was a perfect, fun, peaceful spot to stay the night and I can't wait until I'm back in the area to spend another fun night at Big Mike's!!!
Thanks for the short stay. Wish I could have stayed longer, I had to leave a day early and couldn’t get back like I had planned.
Host went out of his way to assist when needed. Someone who has a sincere interest in helping others.
Will definitely keep this place in mind when we pass through this area again.
We loved our stay here! The kids couldn't have been more excited about being surrounded by donkeys, goats and horses all the time and loved feeding them carrots and apples! Thanks again for the stay!
We enjoyed visits from donkeys, goats, and horses. All were very friendly and not aggressive at all. The pasture was wet and rutted in a few places from a lot of recent rain but we had no problems. We dry camped so we can comment on hookups.
Overall, we enjoyed Big Mike’s and will likely stay here again in the future. Thanks Mike for sharing your farm and for your service to our country.
Good place to stay but can be a little difficult if it has rained a good bit. Great location in the country with animals. Goats and horses are fun to watch.
We arrived right after heavy rains and one of the residents from the property kindly helped us navigate where to park. Mike came by with a friendly welcome and a local map, inviting us to enjoy the property and see the farm animals. We enjoyed our stay!
Our kids absolutely loved feeding all of the animals and riding the horse. They’ll never forget having all of the donkeys and goats right outside of the camper door. Everyone involved was very hospitable. Thanks!
Big Mike welcomed me when I arrived and helped me identify a good spot for my trailer. There were two other rigs in the horse pasture but there was more than enough room for more. The horses, donkeys and goats were a hoot. I enjoyed interacting with them (bring carrots). It was a very relaxing, peaceful place. Thanks Big Mike
Big Mike and his lovely wife were nothing short of amazing. They were helpful and welcoming hosts. This is our first Boondockers Welcome stay and it was a great one. Our two year old was so happy to feed the animals carrots. The animals were gentle and sweet. Thank you both for making our stay fun!
We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed the animal visitors! The property is a joy to wander around too. Thanks Mike!
We had the best time on the farm! The animals are so sweet and gentle and come right up to your door. Plenty of space for our 39ft 5th Wheel and truck. My family and I enjoyed this trip tremendously!!
Big Mike's is a large field and if it has been raining in the area in the last week it could be very muddy. We got stuck but Big Mike was awesome helping us out of the mud.
We truly felt at home at big Mike’s! The animals were friendly, the people were hospitable and the location was beautiful. Fishing, riding and enjoying the sounds of nature...what more could you ask for?
Great stay. Full hookups on level grassy field. Easy in & out of highway. We had fun feeding horses, donkeys and the goats that were very friendly.
We had an awesome time on the ranch. Mike and his wife are wonderful and such a pleasure to speak with. They are filled with amazing stories and adventures. I loved hanging on the farm and being able to interact with the animals in such a relaxed setting. I was able to horseback ride as well. Mike took the time out of his day to help me feel comfortable on one of his horses until I could wander around the huge property on my own. We will surely be back again!
My only complaint was that it was very cold and windy when I visited. So I didn't get to spend time with the horses or donkey's. Loved how Mike repurposed the scuba tanks. Don't be hesitant to go, see my video, it's a beautiful Ranch/RV park to visit.
I stayed two nights at the Big Mikes. The animals were amazing. In all my years I have never gotten to actually feed donkeys or horses. I brought one bag apples and one bag carrots. Wish I had brought two each. I should have stayed in the van though. At one point I thought the horses would knock me down as one was on either side of me diving for the apples. Live and learn. I looked out my window and greeted one of the goats and he jumped right up on my door. The dump station and trash can a plus. When I left the next day one horse thought I had more snacks and would not give up. It was a little tricky getting out the gate and not letting him get out. I really enjoyed my stay. Got great video.
We are so grateful to Big Mike for hosting our family. He and his wife have a truly unique and wonderful place and they made us feel very much at home, like mishpacha. We loved the wild beauty of it, the horses and donkeys in the morning, and getting to hear a little bit about their full and interesting lives. We hope to visit again in the future.
Mike is a gracious host, granting access to all of his large, interesting property. There are woods, ponds and trails and of course the animals. We were greeted by horses and donkeys in the morning. The RV field is huge and easy to maneuver. Very pleasant place to spend the night.
Big Mike's place is well suited for a stopover to and from Florida. The hookups are all there, but you could use/need a longer water hose (75') and waste hose(25'). If your trailer is shorter than mine(33'), you could hook up with less.
There are other options for the hookups if you can be flexible. The bottom line is that we were happy to stay at big Mike's and hope to return on our way back north.
We had a quick overnight stay but loved waking up to the animals. We brought bags of carrots to feed them. If we’re ever traveling through south Ga again we’d love to visit longer.
Alice greeted me after I got camp set up. Enjoyed talking to her. Was not able to meet Mike. My was mostly spent away exploring. Will return again. Thank you Alice & Mike!
Big Mike has a big open area with a nice pond. We woke up to horses and donkeys waiting for us to come outside our camper. Wonderful place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at Big Mike's. The location was peaceful and relaxing. The horses, donkeys, and goats were all friendly (as were our hosts). We planned on staying one night but Hurricane Eta delayed our travels. We were so grateful to have the option to stay a second night. Good thing we brought extra apples and carrots! We'll be back.
We had a great stay at Big Mike’s. He showed us around upon our arrival and gave us a view of the one day old goats.
The horses came to our RV door in the morning to get their treat. What a pleasant and memorable moment.
Thanks big Mike
We only stayed one night, but it was by far one of my kids most memorable! Big Mike and family are very nice and welcoming. The animals were just as friendly as their owners. After reading reviews, I brought bags of apples and carrots for the animals. My kids absolutely loved feeding the donkeys and horses. We had a great time and would love to stop by again!
Host was gracious and accommodating. Very nice stay...quiet and peaceful.
We enjoyed a quiet night in the farm field. A few potholes but overall level. Used electrical and water hookup for $15.00. Enjoyed the horses and burros, which were penned in another pasture at dusk and then allowed into the field we camped in at morning.
Didn’t get to meet host.
Big Mike and Alice were welcoming, kind, and their place was all you could want. Hookups for those who wanted them, open spaces or wooded areas for those who didn't. Lakes, woods, fields, 4 miles to town, and interaction with horses, donkeys, goats....can't wait to go back.
Large grass field close to the main road. Good facilities, water and electricity. We had a great stay.
What a great place! Big Mike was so laid back and easy to deal with. Having the donkeys & horses literally on your doorstep was fun....most of the time. If you decide to feed them then you better be ready for some of them being a bit....persistent, would be a good word. We actually had to stay a couple days past our scheduled stay because we were waiting for a package at the post office that didn’t show. No problem with host and there is loads of room there. Thanks for everything Big Mike and good luck getting your backhoe unstuck!
Quiet, level and lovely. I’d stay again for sure. Beautiful creatures to see as well. A very friendly welcome
What a unique experience. We enjoyed staying in the pasture with the donkeys and horses. They have funny personalities and we might’ve fed them 7lbs of carrots 🥕
Full hook ups for an affordable price. Boys enjoyed cat fishing in the pond.
Thank you Big Mike!
Big Mike's were a wonderful hosts. We had a personal situation that cut our stay to one day instead of two but if ever we find ourselves in this area again we would love to spend some time and chat with these very interesting, very friendly hosts. Some of their goats are the friendliest little critters you could imagine, and the donkeys too. This is just such a great small town atmosphere, very laid back and the hosts offered the use of everything they had. We used the electric hookup and would have used the water and dump station if we had stayed longer. FYI... if T-Mobile is your carrier you'll get little to no signal here.
We had such a great stay here and everyone in the ranch were amazing and so friendly. Mike and Ms. Alice were super sweet - I highly recommend stopping in for a visit if you are in the area - the donkeys, the horses, goats, ducks and just a cool
place all around..
Great safe place for families. Tons of animals to see. Big Mike is very welcoming and made us feel at home. We’d definitely stay again if are in the area.
We enjoyed every minute at Big Mike's. The people and animals really made our stay fun. We will definitely go back.
In this time of covid-19 and all the chaos etc. Mike and Alice are steady as a rock. The farm is a very relaxing place to be. Mike and Alice are providing a safe place to ride out the storm. There is plenty of space to keep your distance from others. Dry camping/boondocking is free. There are a number of 30 amp set ups with water and a place to dump. The $15/day that they ask for these sites is reasonable and there is no price gouging going on.
A couple of straight forward rules apply...
Leave you attitude on the road. No arrogant or rude people are tolerated or allowed. Rightfully so, Mike does not put up with any bullshit. This a private farm. Mike and Alice are not in the camping business. They are offering/providing safe haven for all equally.
You MUST like farm animals. All camping is in a pasture that is open to the horses, donkeys, goats, deer etc. during the day (8am-4pm). All the animals are friendly and do not bother anyone. If you have a dog, it will need to stay on a leash until the animals go back to the barn and the gate is closed. That's around 4pm daily.
That's about it. Be a good human and enjoy.
This place is really great. Big fire pit in the middle. Lots of open space and Sunshine for our Solar panels. Lots of Roosters crowing, geese honking, and goats running.
Mike and Alice are truly special people. They are so kind and generous. We really loved our stay. Peaceful farm with fun, friendly animals! Water, electric and sewer hook up! Will definitely stay again if we are in the area! Thank you so much Mike and Alice!!
Away from city. Quiet area. It was great to be in the country with horses, donkeys, goats, chickens etc.
Roosters were our wake-up call every morning ! Thank you.
We loved our stay. Mike and Alice are warm hosts. Bravo to you for the beautiful end of life that you offer to these magnificent horses!
We took pleasure in feeding the horses and the donkeys. First close contact with donkeys who are simply charming and sweet. We also had the lovely visit of the house goat who is staying with us for an entire afternoon on the terrace of our vr.
As a bonus, we received chicken eggs but also geese that we had never tasted until now.
Thank you for allowing us to live its beautiful moments! If we are lucky we will definitely be back.
Some videos of our visit soon: www.damononroad.com
Rej & Lyne
My kids love it when we go to Mike's and visit. This is a very safe place for them to roam around and unwind. Also a great place for us to relax. All the animals are so gentle. We can't wait to go visit again.
Open pasture with animals looking for a snack, nice and quiet, good nights sleep.
Loved mike and his wife very friendly. Loved the farm and I fed the animals which was fun. Donkeys, goats and horses. The price was reasonable $45 for my 3 day stay. They were kind enough to let me take a shower and they checked on me when there was a storm to make sure I was ok. Very quite, SAFE, and plenty of room to walk around. Would like to go back sometime. Thank you mike and sweet wife❤️
Should use that title because of the generosity of both .Mike and Alice. We have stayed twice now and met nice folks both times through. What a great place! Hope to return.
Big Mike is very enthusiastic and the camp is very fun, thank you. I also completed a YouTube video at Big Mike ’s camp, and it ’s very nice, thanks to Big Mike.
Star gazing was so tranquil. The animals were amazing and a treat.
I can't say enough good things about Mike and Alice, They were amazing hosts! What they do on their farm for horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, geese, ducks and all the animals is beyond commendable. Just know that nothing is sacred to the donkeys, lol. They love to play with rugs, table cloths and anything else left out between 8am and 4 pm. The antics of the goats is very entertaining. I would definitely recommend staying here and plan to return many times! Thanks Mike and Alice for a perfect 1st time boondocking experience!!
I can't say enough good things about Mike and Alice. They are wonderful hosts and make you feel welcome. The barn was exceptionally healing for me as I had to put my horse down, so it was just what I needed. Feeding time is 4 pm, outs something you don't want to miss. The fresh eggs I was blessed with are amazing! One word of caution, there is nothing sacred to the donkeys, they will want to play with rugs, table cloths and anything else.... don't forget the carrots and apples. They come out around 8 am and go back to the barn at 4 pm, so THEN you can put rugs out, lol. GREAT PLACE! Will definately be going back!
So we stopped in to meet our hosts. Very hospitable and interesting folks. We were allowed to feed the horses, goats, and donkeys which was a lot of fun. We went through a couple bags of carrots, and a bag of apples in no time at all - so pace yourselves! Nice place to settle in, very laid back and relaxing. We were boondocking, but they do have an option to hook up if you need to.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful setting. It was a pleasure to wake up with horses and donkeys all around. We really appreciate that Big Mike shares his huge property with fellow travellers.
A great place to stay! Safe and hospitable environment that makes you want to come back again and again. Can't say enough great things about the place. Highly recommend
Mike is an amazing person. When you are on his ranch, rv park, you feel safe and in freedom.
It’s my favorite place to create and enjoy nature, people and animals.
This place helps conviviality!
This is our second year here. Love being with all the animals. You can either boondock or hook up. Only issue was one of the long term campers has 3 dogs that chase the animals and one dog barks excessively. Otherwise a great experience.
Due to predicted heavy rains we only stayed one of the three nights we signed up for.
Mike and Alice are very nice down to earth folks. I really enjoyed feeding the horses and goats although they can be a bit pushy lol.
Thank you again. Hope to visit again.
Eve, Hilton and Sunny Doggie
It was incredible. We really enjoyed our time here. We enjoyed the animals and people. The donkeys were very entertaining. The horses super friendly. They even let my kids ride some of the horses. Thanks again it was our best experience with boon dockers welcome.
What a wonderful stay we had at Big Mike's! A big beautiful pasture to stay in, with or without power. Friendly donkeys and horses roam freely right by your rig in the morning! Mike and Alice are wonderful hosts, friendly and kind. We highly recommend this location and we will be back. Also big bonus for us, after the donkeys and horses return to the other pasture, dogs can roam free off leash, a big plus!! Thank you again, Sarge!
Nice place for a stay while travelling. Very quiet with hydro $ and water.
We only spent one night at Big Mike's but it was easy to get into and out of. We fed the donkeys in the morning before leaving and the open field was a great place for me to practice backing the trailer (something I usually count on my husband to do). Thanks for making the space available.
If you would enjoy camping in a field with donkeys, horses, and goats running around you will like this place. A unique experience. Thank you Big Mike
Mike is an amazing human as you will learn and his generosity is unparalleled! I had so much fun with the animals. I hope my path of travels brings me this way again. Ty mike for being a wonderful host!
Though we only stayed one night, we really enjoyed the back-to-the-farm setting. Met some very kind people and still had internet connection to work and catch up online. Want to go back and explore the Okefenokee more!
Big Mike is a friendly host. Water is available, electric is available, but the dump station is a small leach field and fills up pretty fast, so if you have big tanks be prepared. The parking area is a gated pasture with horses/donkeys/goats roaming around. All are VERY friendly and love carrots and apples. We have a large class A and stayed one night.
Thank you Mike for your warm hospitality, sharing your land and grazing community of animals. This is my first boondocker welcome stay and I enjoyed the experience tremendously.
Very secluded yet close to main road. Only stayed a short time but was very enjoyable. Will stop back again. Thank you
Big Mike promptly answered our request. He was kind enough to meet us at his gate during a downpour. He has plenty of room to stay and plenty of animals to hang out with. Bring apples and carrots, and some close toed shoes!
Mike, thanks for your hospitality and quick response to our short-fused stay requirement :-) You have a great place there, hope we find ourselves passing that way again.
This was our second stay at Big Mike's. First time was in March. This time, in October. It's a nice stop on our way from the Carolinas back to Florida. They are wonderful hosts. The location is close enough to the Okefenokee Swamp to visit, buy it's also so close that it can be a bit buggy at times. Either way, it's a joy to see the animals they have (horses, burros, goats, chickens). Remember to bring carrots and apples.
This place is fantastic! Lots of space for parking, both boondocking and FHU sites available (8, 30 amp). Better love animals as the horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, and ducks all roam free in the RV area. I even had two horses stick their heads into my RV windows and eat some carrots...the donkeys are too short to reach the windows. It was awesome! And Mike and his wife are fantastic hosts. Kind, generous, gentle, loving people. Veterans, you'll feel right at home here. The place feels like home. I'll definitely be back.
Our stay at Big Mike's was fantastic, plenty of open pasture and ponds for my dog to play in. They have excellent 🍯 honey in town to buy. Nice neighbors
This place is incredible! You have completely free run of the property! Nothing is off limits! Your dogs can run free, you just have to keep them away from the animals! Although honestly, our dogs did great with the donkeys! Mike and his wife are super warm welcoming people and they have huge hearts rescuing all these animals!! We paid $20 a night to have full hook ups, electric, water and dump. It's completely worth it because they use all the money to care and feed the animals! You can also stay for free without hook ups. Love love love this place!
We just wanted a safe place to stop overnight. Lovely peaceful evening, thanks!
Big Mike was waiting at the gate when we arrived. Was very helpful and offered to let the kids explore his property and interact with all of his animals. Also, offered to let the kids do some stargazing through his telescopes. We did not take him up on it do to needing to get some rest after our week at Disney.
Would definitely stay again in the future.
Didn't get a chance to meet him. But his place was extremely inviting and very quiet.
Nice land, Lots of space, peacefull, quiet, we spent 3 good nights, would come back anytime!
Fenced in pasture area. Ground is rough due to rain. Water & electric worked fine. Dump stations could be bigger. Leach field only 30 ft. Have to dump slowly if you have large tanks
All these horses, donkeys, goats, chickens and dogs are fortunate to be cared for by these kind BW hosts. So are the ‘humans’ that get to stay on this farm overnight. Don’t miss coming here!
This is a very nice spot for anyone who likes animals and easy to find off the highway.
Unfortunately we arrived after dark in the tail end of a thunderstorm so getting situated was a little scary but worked ok.
Beautiful area and so many things are blooming right now! Reasonably close to Okefenokee Swamp entrances.
We got stuck getting out. The ground is still a little wet. Our host quickly helped us out and had us on our way with no issues. The perils of travelling in spring.
Its clear Mike has done a lot of work getting these sites set up and work on the property ponds and paths is continuing.
We would definitely come back but not with a big rig after a month of rain!!
Thanks, Big Mike for your hospitality. We had a brief stopover on our way south. We were amazed at how clearly we could see the stars and pick out many constellations. In the early morning the roosters were crowing and the donkeys were talking. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Mike could not have been more welcoming. His ranch is wide open and everything at your disposal. He could not make you feel more at home.
Water, electric and septic available and its free. Boondocking and very skoolie friendly.
Mike and Alice were very nice to our entire family while we stayed here- they are very kind and down to earth people. They invited us in for holiday supper and treated us like family. Our kids really enjoyed all the various animals they have on their ranch and they learned some new skills at the same time. We'll definitely return someday. Thanks again Mike and Alice :)
We really enjoyed our stop here.
nice open field very interesting animals as described in the listing. adorable donkeys.
we would stay again. very quiet except for the rooster but we loved it
Horses and donkeys and chickens and goats make for a good afternoon of feedng. They came right up to our coach and I was feeding him right through the door carrots and apples, you don't want to get out in the midst of them though to try to feed him they'll push you around we found out but other than that nice stay. Had water and electricity, Mike and Alice are very friendly and we thank them for their hospitality
Thanks Mike. I lived waking up to the farm sounds. The stars looked clise enough to touch.
Due to unforseen circumstances we could not make it to mikes to stay, but he and his wife were quick to respond to our inquiries and were understanding. We hope to visit the area again and definitely plan on a stay!
We stayed in a pasture that had 9 horses, 7 donkeys and numerous goats. There were chickens and geese as well there. You have free access of the whole property to visit the animals. We were feeding the donkeys and horses from our motor-home.Big open area. We chose hook ups but you can dry camp if you'd like. Met a few fellow dry campers. There were about 7 full-time residents that had their trailers there but only 2 were occupied. Great place. Was quite the experience. Will stop by if ever in the area again.
We enjoyed our night stay at Big Mikes.
Got to meet some very nice guests.
Very easy to park. Just a perfect fit for us.
Had a lovely 1-night stay at Big Mike’s - didn’t meet him but did have a nice chat upon arrival with Alice, his lovely better half. As suggested by others who left comments here, I arrived with bags of carrots & apples which were promptly gobbled up by the sweet, gentle horses. What a lovely way to wake up, surrounded by the horses and hearing the roosters crow! Nice people also boondocking there.
A must stay if you love animals! Horses, goats, donkeys, chickens, are your friends and neighbors. Big Mike has a heart of gold! Very wecolming, told us we could stay as long as we wanted. We only stayed 2 days as we had other obligations, will definatly return.
Big Mike is adding more to his little Boondocking Paradise. Again a Very nice place to stay and explore. Thanks again.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience and we weren't quite sure how it was going to go. This location is is pretty remote compared to Tampa where we were coming from this day. Turning on to Mike's dirt road from the paved 2 lane highway we knew we were in for an adventure. The road was more sand than dirt and I could feel our truck and heavy 5th wheel sink in slightly. We didn't have to go far to reach the fenced in field where the campers go. There is a sign with their phone number and I called just to be sure. Alice told us to come on in. The dirt road is narrow and has dropoffs on both sides. The entry is narrow too but we were able to squeeze our entire 62' rig in through the gate with some care. The field is somewhat uneven, but we took our time and it was not an issue. Alice came out and chatted with us a bit and offered us fresh eggs from their chickens. She apologized that Mike wasn't available to come meet us- he was helping another camper with a truck that wouldn't start. We had a quiet relaxing evening and a great night's sleep. There were four other campers there which you wouldn't have know they were so quiet. It rained overnight, and it rained hard! There was some pooling in the field and other than standing in a couple puddles, it did not hinder our pulling out in the morning. The 'dirt' road on the other hand was just like driving on a soft beach in the water! The shoulders were breaking away under our weight and we were fortunate enough not to get stuck on our exit. We even had to put it in 4 wheel drive to make it to the paved highway! Overall we loved the experience at Big Mike's- they are great people and offer a lot. There was even water and 15 amp electric at site if you choose to hook up for a fee and a dump station at the exit. We even had fun with the adventure caused by the rain even though it was a bit hairy right then. We would go again and you should too!
We had an amazing time at Big Mike's. Waking up in the morning to a field of horses, donkeys, and goats is like heaven on Earth. Mike & Alice work so hard to ensure that their animals are happy and healthy and the grounds are just lovely. They are incredibly accommodating as there are no off-limit areas. We can't wait to go back and plan on making this an annual trip at minimum. Be sure to bring lots of carrots and apples 😋
I would highly recommend Big MIke's RV Camp! Unfortunately, we were heading north from Florida and due to our schedule planned for only one night. As soon as we approached the gate, we were greeted by a friendly camp host. As my husband was getting the camper situated,I admired the friendly horses feeding them apples. The next morning we met the owner, Mike who was busy getting the ground ready for planting season. After talking to him we learned he rescues and rehabilitates horses. If you enjoy the simple life and farm animals then this is the place for you! We will definitely go back! Thank you, Mike!
Thank you for opening up your world to us. We all had the most amazing time feeding the animals and meeting everyone. We met other boondockers and had a great time by the fire with s’mores and great chats. We always felt at home and were blown away with mike and Alice’s welcoming nature. For someone who only likes horses and goats, Mike you do alright!!!. Sending our love and hope to come back one day.
We stayed one night at mikes and alice. Alice was so nice and welkomt us with open arms. The animals were amazing and we spent some time with them and gave the horses some carrots. Alice did our laundry and wr had very nice conversation. They really have a nice thing going on with the animals.
This next review is special for mike.
Mike is a boring old man. Everybody says he is nice but actually he is not. He tells boring stories ond old mans jokes. Not a very interesting man. (Here you go mike, youre bad review like you asked, i kept my word).
Thanks to both for hosting us. I would recommendceverybody to visit them and there world of animals.
We arrived in the dark and Mike and Alice were helpful in getting us settled for the night. The next morning we realized that we were right next to the animal pasture. Mike met our kids and said they could go into the pasture and meet the animals who all seemed very friendly. The kids are still talking about them. Chickens, goats, donkeys, horses, dogs, and more.
This is a mixed farm and it’s not immaculate or prestine but these folks are very considerate and generous. Thanks Mike and Alice for the hospitality.
It's always great to meet folks like Mike and Alice, they are laid back and try to help there guest have an enjoyable stay. It is the first RV park I have been to where you can get eggs straight from the farm and if your from the country you will feel at home here. It is not for everyone though, if it rains there is mud to deal with in some areas, and it is not designed to be a resort, after all the park is in there pasture, just a place you can park for free or they do have hookups for a price. They pretty much try to accommodate what ever you want to do within reason, You can even fish in several areas.
We arrived on February 2018 and had planned to stay only for one night. We enjoyed our stay so much that we never wanted to leave. We awakened by the song of a cock crow. Every morning the horses, donkeys, and goats greeted us waiting for their daily apples and carrots. Our dogs enjoyed running and romping around in the ponds on the property. Big Mike and Alice are wonderful and generous hosts. Thank you for sharing your paradise with us.

My Wife and I went to big Mikes on Jan 19th. We intended to stay a day or two but enjoyed it so much we stayed for five. This was our first experience using Boondockers Welcome. Mike and Alice made us feel very welcome. We were also greeted and had a good time with the horses, donkeys, goats, dogs and chickens. In the evening we visited with others who were staying there around their large fire pit. We had a great time. Thanks again, Mark & Jeanne
Mike was very welcoming, his property is amazing and there is lots to do there.
This was our second stay at Big Mike's. He and his wife are always so sweet and welcoming! The kids always love the horses and donkeys. Mike let us tour the farm and the kids got to see the baby goats. The town and people there are super friendly! Make sure you stop at the Honey Shack, Murphy's Seafood and Richard's Market.
What a wonderful location, a big ranch that you can roam free as well as the horses, donkeys, chickens and goats at your front door. Great host. Wish we could if explored more but it rained the entire time we were there.
This is my first experience with Boondockers Welcome, and I couldn’t be more pleased and surprised. Mike is a great guy—outgoing and eccentric. He makes you feel at home. He rescues horses, and the place has horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, dogs, and other animals I can’t remember. If you don’t like the country, this place isn’t for you.
There are hookups, pastures, and woods. Also, the town five miles down the road has all you need, including great local restaurants.
But Mike is what makes this place so special. He’s retired military, and I thank him for his service. He’s one of those people you remember. I hope to be back there within the next few weeks to get away from all the hubbub of everyday life.
Stayed a couple nights at Big Mike's place in southern Georgia, and wow, what a great place to escape the frenetic city pace. Loved the southern hospitality in town, and was impressed with what Big Mike has done with his RV camp. Really liked the way he used his old scuba tanks as site markers. Had great power for my 30-amp, and water supply as well. My dog was elated to run free in the large gated lot, and I can tell she didn't want to leave when we pulled out. I didn't want to leave either. Hope I can make another visit again some day. Would highly recommend.
This couple opened up their property to us like we were family. They were so sweet to our three kids by showing them around the ranch and introducing them to their animals. We are honestly disappointed that we have to leave to our next stop. Okefenokee Swamp Park was about a half hour away and was a worthwhile day trip for us.
Hey Big Mike ...meant to recommend you before but I am the worst procrastinator....thank you for letting me stay on your property for 3 days during an awful rain storm in Jan. ...I was very grateful to be there because I wasn't feeling the best either.
thank you so much again,
What nice welcome we received from both Mike and his wife. He was very generous with sharing the property, making us feel at home, and in giving us a tour. We enjoyed feeding the horses and donkeys carrots and apples. It was a great spot. The only downside we experienced were the gnats/bugs during this time of the year. However, when the breeze picked up, it took bugs away. Town is only a few minutes'drive; it offers groceries, dining, gas, etc., pretty much anything you'd need. We recommend staying here.
A great spot in the Georgia wilderness. Was very welcomed by Mike. I ended up staying an extra day to take in all the surroundings and animals. Thanks Ross
Big Mike and wife are truly wonderful people who generously shared their beautiful piece of paradise! Gentle, loving horses, friendly, inquisitive donkeys, sweet baby goats, a menagerie of rescued dogs, plus free-range chickens, geese and guinea hens on property proudly cared for and wonderfully tended. Two of the nicest people we've met and one of the most peaceful, beautiful, natural places we've stayed. Better than a 5 star resort in our opinion.
So glad we found this place and met this couple. Highly recommend to anyone who loves peace, animals, nature and down-home hospitality!
Big Mike's is pastoral literally because you camp in a pasture with horses, donkeys, goats and other farm life grazing around your campsite. Mike provides 30 amp, water and sewer in this setting along with an under-construction canal park for your enjoyment. It's very rustic, quite and restful. There are about 6-8 usable sites and plenty of room to back in to your space. You can also make a nightly fire using the ample wood laying about on the RV Ranch. Mike is a special one-of-a-kind guy with a wonderful giving nature. This is an ideal place for ex military as Mike is a vet Green Beret and seems to care a lot about other vets. The horses and other livestock, dogs, goats, etc I think are all rescued animals so although not requested a small donation seemed appropriate at the end of our one week stay. Homerville is a quaint little Georgia town just north of the Okefenokee Swamp, the largest swamp in the world. Mike can fill you in on other local attractions as well. Mike's wife, Alice is also a special person who lives Mike's passion with him. Alice gave us free range chicken and goose eggs on the day we left and boy were they good. Thanks Alice. We highly recommend that you check out Big Mike's RV Ranch near Homerville if you are in the area in Southern GA cause you can recharge your batteries (personal ones) and also use Mikes as a base for all of So. GA.
The rescued horses, donkeys, goats and other animals provide lots of entertainment. The ranch is a great spot to stop while traveling or to have a rest while on a long trip. The hosts are amiable and welcoming. We stayed four days in mid-February.
Lynda and Robert in Campervan Zephyr.
Our first experience with boondockers was in Georgia at Big Mike's ranch. We can't fully express what a wonderful time we had. They are such kind, friendly, welcoming folks with a lot of knowledge and great stories. We very much enjoyed our time with them on their land.
Horses, donkeys, goats, and dogs are among the friendly and curious animals that Mike and Alice care for. We loved having the horses and donkeys visit us during the day.
The land is beautiful. The RV sites are spacious and flat with great water and electric hookup and amazing panoramic views. We spent much of our time sitting outside, enjoying the peaceful setting. The night stargazing is breathtaking. Our kids explored the land, fished in the pond, borrowed movies from Mike's dvd library, bottle fed baby goats, patted and fed the horses, goats and donkeys and all around had a wonderful time. None of us wanted to leave -which made what was going to be a short stay into 5 days!
She went out of her way and drove me into town for grocery shopping. They also had us over for a dinner party where we enjoyed lovely company and conversation.
Thank you so much for everything!! You've touched all of our hearts!
We highly recommend them and hope to make our way back in the future.
This place is a paradise, absolutely wonderful.Worth going out of your way to stay a while. Please don't forget to close the gate when coming or going. Rounding up horses and donkeys is a pain. Big Mike and company are perfect hosts. We were more than happy to donate for helping them feed all of the rescue animals. Once again PARADISE. A BIG THANK YOU....
Big Mike's ranch is a piece of heaven on earth. Big Mike and his wife are super-friendly. Really lovely and interesting people. We got a tour of the ranch, and the horses, donkeys, and goats were allowed to visit us for carrot snacks. SO QUIET, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Water hookup and 30-amp electric plus a dump station. Hope to go back again someday soon. Thank you, Big Mike!!
Came in just a couple of days before Thanksgiving we were immediately invited to join them for Thanksgiving dinner which was delicious. If you like horses and other animals it is for you, with hookup available.
Mike and Alice were wonderful hosts! We arrived after dark and Mike was so helpful as our 2017 RV plug wouldn't fit in his receptacle and he went out of his way to help us to get it to fit. The horses and donkeys were great and came right up to our trailer each day. Alice offered for the kids to bottle feed the baby goats and the kids loved the experience. We enjoyed the local meal recommendations and it was the best southern food we've ever had! We will definitely be back and recommend Big Mikes to everyone!
We stumbled into Big Mikes before we launched into Florida and were greeted by a small herd of Donkeys, Horses and Goats... And of course Mike! We were absolutely blessed to spend the night. He and Alice are absolute GEMS! What a heart for service, hospitality and grace! We are definitely keeping this one on our radar...We'll be back! Thanx Mike!
Enjoyed several nights stay. Relax and no pressure, elect, water, dump available. Just take care to close the gate if going out to town. Easy spot to find, quiet but with automatic morning alarm, ie rooster crows in the AM but not real close by. We enjoyed it having had animals when our kids were young.
There was unusually rainy weather and the location was not conducive to stay because of soggy ground,
I met with Big Mike and we both agreed on the conditions.
Perhaps another time.
