I was with my family business that installed septics, sewers and dug basements until 1998. Then in 1998 my wife and I started a new manufacturing business making fake rocks that we ship around the world for a lot of different applications. My wife was a graphic designer for a christen publication until they moved out of state and then became a teachers aid until I need her to answer the phone and do paper work for our business.
My wife and I were married in 1980. When people ask us how many kids we have I say I can't remember let me count. I tell them 18, 19 kids. We have 4 kids in heaven and 2 of our own daughters that are married. But then we had 11 full time foreign exchange high school students and several short time that all call us Mom and Dad. So we have kids around the world that we have gone to visit with them and show us their country, and they come back with their family and we take them in our camper to show them our country.
We have been to 48 states and 8 countries so far and have a lot of traveling stories.
My wife and I have helped with Habitat for Humanity and currently are leaders of our LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team) group that travel and volunteer at disasters in our camper either locally or to other states when possible. We have been trained for clean up in floods and tornados and the use of chainsaws. It is such a blessing when we can help others in need.
I have worked with computers since 1982 and I have built my own computer. My wife Jean is a great cook and she likes to can our fruit's and vegetables.
Jean has taken groups of foreign exchange students and friends to Chicago and was their tour guide. She can help with train rides into Chicago, tell you about the boat taxies and what to see and eat that is famous in there.
We have a 1998 Class C 28' motor home with no slide outs.
Beautiful location in corn fields - very private and quiet - thank you Bob for showing us your workshop and sharing tales of your adventures!
One of our first boondocking experiences and couldn’t have been better. Beautiful and welcoming location. So thrilled to call these two folks friends. Enjoyed learning about your business, wishing you great success!
Great people! Really enjoyed our time here and had some really great conversations. Nice country location. Look forward to seeing you all again one of these days.
We had a lot of miles to cover in a short time and the "world traveler" site was the perfect fit. They were so nice and friendly to us and I really enjoyed talking and learning all about the family business. When we do a slower trip through this area we would love to come and hang out some more.
The "world travelers" are the salt of the earth! They are the kindest people that you will ever meet.
This was the first time that we have ever boondocked and it was great. Also their site boasts a view of a red glowing sunset over lush green soybean bean fields. Never have we seen the sun so huge and bright red. <emoji> We are blessed to have new friends. ✝ God is good!
We only got to spend one night with World Travelers but feel like we made friends! Super nice and funny couple. We got a tour of the business and some awesome conversation. They have some great stories to tell and are very giving and passionate about helping people. The site was perfect - private but easy access. I can highly recommend without reservation!
We stayed at 'world travelers' place for 5 nights and it was fantastic! The hosts were extremely nice but also respected our privacy. They were kind enough to invite us into their home for dinner and dessert, which was homemade and delicious.
The location of where we parked was away from their home but close to the building they conduct their home business however it was very private and quiet.
I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area -- they are very accommodating.
There are also some great places to dine in the area.
We spent a few nights with the World Travelers. Our hosts set out an extension cord and water hose for us and gave us a tour of their fascinating business. The location is convenient for exploring Chicago, we took the train in from the local town. All in all, just a lovely visit, with great sunsets thrown in!
Our family stayed with World Traveler when we were visiting the Chicago area and had an absolutely wonderful time! They have a beautiful property with panoramic views of the country side and plenty of space for our RV and truck. On top of that, they're a lovely couple who were thoughtful and kind throughout our stay. We would recommend them to anyone looking to visit Chicago and would welcome them to our home anytime, as well.
