newly retired and our only home is on wheels

John and I started down this full time RVing path mentally sometime ago, however, once we moved it to a reality we got it done. We liquidated our 2200 sq ft home, bought our motor home (well, almost) with funds from our unnecessary stuff, sold our home and hit the road the last week of July 2016. Yes, we are new at this. John is retired from heavy equipment sales and rentals. I am a Realtor, and still work a little bit.

Our first two weeks out we visited family in Nevada and stayed in a MobileHome/RV park. It was pleasant. Moving to Oak Harbor, Washington for more family visiting, we were blessed to stay on the Navy base in a minimum 5 star facility. Planning our third family visit in Bailey, Colorado is when we started exploring options. We have discovered it is really easy to spend too much money, and RV accommodations... wow! The upside of $60.00 per night! After hours of free WIFI exploring, I found Boondockers Welcome and the Frugal RV site.

With renewed enthusiasm, and all our family visiting over for awhile, we are ready to try this a bit differently and hope to meet some new and wonderful people. We have discovered, we are not the RV'ers that park and sit. We walk, ride bikes, hike and explore most of the day. John plays guitar and I love to cook, so we stay in most evenings unless we can find a fun place to hang out for open MIC night.

We do travel with three dogs. Before you panic and reject us, please understand they are very well behaved and loved dogs. Our Jack Russell is 16 years old. We have to have patience and kindness is our hearts for him at all times. He is deaf and almost blind (among other ailments) and requires leashing constantly. Our Boxer/Border Collie is 7 and he has slowed his roll and is really happy just hanging out with us. The baby of the band is Spaniel/Border Collie and he is charming. The all mind their manners and us 97% of the time. They are kind to other pets and all children.

We are looking forward to exploring this new way of exploring the country and hope meeting boondocking hosts enriches our experience.

Thank you!

John and Rhonda

Skills & Expertise to Share

I think we are still working on this. Right now, we are good at visiting grandchildren, hanging out, reading, cooking and tending to our dogs needs. John fishes, I bike.. Not really skills, but we are working on it.

Traveling Through

This couple and their dogs stayed for 1 night. After dinner, he joined us on the gazebo and we visited for a bit while he strummed the guitar. We really enjoyed his performance of song accompanied by him playing the guitar. They were very pleasant and we enjoyed their visit.
