Bill and I bought our first RV twelve years ago to take a trip to Alaska, intending to sell it when we returned. We loved RVing so much that, when we came home, we sold the house and went on the road full time for the next four years. We have crossed the United States many times and visited all 50 states (no, we didn't RV in Hawaii). We love the beach and we love the desert, so RVing is the perfect way for us to have some of each. We love animals and travel with our two rescue cats, Lily and Merlin.
We have several hobbies, but exploring 4X4 roads in the desert is probably our favorite activity when we travel. In addition, Stephanie does water colors, crocheting, knitting and is an avid reader. Bill is a master mechanic and keeps our rig in tip top shape. He also loves to hike, fish and plan our trips.
We grew up in New Jersey and moved to New York State shortly after our children were born. We had lots of great times in Central New York, survived blizzards and loved it, but after 35 years of hard winters, we're ready to follow the sun! We look forward to meeting other RVers and sharing travel stories with them.
Bill was a truck mechanics before retirement, so is pretty handy with any mechanical problems. Stephanie enjoys computers and is good with Mac computers. She is also a knitter and crocheter.
Yes, two rescue cats, Lily and Merlin. They travel with us and enjoy people and pet watching from our RV windows. Occasionally, Lily will go outdoors on a leash, but Merlin is a scardy cat and prefers watching from indoors.

Born in central NJ, but lived more than 30 years in the Finger Lakes area of NY State. Currently have a home base near the Outer Banks of North Carolina, but may be selling it soon.
Our current rig is a 36 foot Winnebago Adventurer with three slides. We tow a Jeep Wrangler that we use to drive on beaches and on 4X4 roads in the desert. We are set up with solar for our basic needs, and boondock often. Generally, we can manage without electric or water, though it is appreciated when possible.
TheHenkels' were my first host with Boondockers Welcome. They were very gracious to be accommodating on short notice, and invited me in for a little visit. The driveway is level and they provided electrical & water hookups. It's a nice and quiet neighborhood, and though the weather wasn't right during my stay, it is in a prime location for being outdoors away from city and near to beaches. Would love a future visit and I recommend them as hosts
We really enjoyed staying with TheHenkels. They were so accommodating and considerate, they even gifted my two kids some toys, which they loved! Very quiet area with friendly neighborhood kids. No problems with access. We enjoyed friendly conversation about travelling and Australia. Highly recommend!
