We are both retired educators operating a Happy Hoof GrassFed Beef Farm. We are proud of our Cajun roots and culture. We love to tell boondockers about “Boudin” since our city is the “Boudin Capital Of The World”! We love to practice our Cajun French with those who speak the French language. We enjoy meeting people, making new friends and sharing stories with others.
Know how to make a roux!! (You have to know how to make a roux to make good Cajun gumbo!!)
We have donkeys on our farm. They do not travel with us because they are needed on the farm to protect our cows and calves!! And I must say they do an excellent job!!
We hope in the near future to start traveling and visiting with the people who are boondocking hosts. With the farm it is not always easy to get away. But the time will come. We look forward to that day. For now we enjoying hosting.
Our hometown is in the heart of Cajun Country! The people are very friendly and family oriented. They work hard but they know how to have a good time. “Laissez LES Bons Temps Rouler” translated as “Let the Good Times Roll,“ is the rule! The Boudin Festival is in April. Plenty of good bands that highlight our music will surely entertain you. We love cooking up something good to eat—-boiled crawfish, gumbo, jambalaya, sweet dough pies, etouffee etc. If we can put it in a pot, we cook it and eat it!! You might say our food is at the center of everything we do! The Marci Gras parade is fun! You have to come catch you some beads!!!

Thank you so much for a great stay where we learnt so much about the area, the Cajun way (historically to)and festivities during Mardi Gras. It gave such a better insight to the happenings at that time. To arrive and then be invited over for a lovely evening was wonderful. We had a great stay and hope to meet up again in the future.
Had a short visit but memorable. Took a ride to check out a newborn calf! Great boondock, better people! Thanks for the stay! Robert
We had the most wonderful visit at Happy Hoof Farm. Imagine opening the curtain in the morning and seeing two steer looking back at you. When I waved, one perked his ears up and the other waved his tail. Linda and Charles were the most wonderful hosts. Being Acadian, I so wanted to learn all about my distant Cajun cousins and their Cajun country. And learn, I did; everything from the closeness of the Cajun families, the types of foods, the best place to buy beignets, boudin, the brown roux that is so special for cooking Cajun. We learned about the blue crabs, catfish, Mardi Gras, and the list goes on. Linda and Charles, Thank you so much for allowing us to visit. We look forward to seeing you again. Mary Ann and Bill

We really felt like we were part of there family. We also met there son and daughter in law and the also were so friendly and awesome. We are so honert and glad we could meet and stay with tis wonderful couple. They opent there house for us, total strangers and gave us water, electricity, food wich was local home made and absolutely delicious. This beautiful couple were so hospitable but especially kind. We encountered severe cold weather and they knew I was new to the camping and boondocking world, they went above and beyond to make my friend and I feel welcomed, actually, at home. Thank you for being so sweet and kind to us. God bless you and hope to see you soon when I make the same trip back.
Linda, Charles and George were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed spending time, sharing, they are proud to share their knowledge of the local area. We were looking for a stop over between New Orleans and Houston and with their help came to understand Scott's role in the development of Southern Louisiana, its theme is "Where the West Begins" because it was the last stop on the Rail Road! Lovely location and people, highly recommend.
Welcoming from start to finish Mr Charles and Mrs Linda were fabulous x they were we so patient with my children with an entire box of brilliant toys to keep them occupied and just so accommodating with us. They shared their local delicacies with us. A pleasurable time from start to finish. Another reason to make it hard to move on x so grateful for our time x thank you so much
We were so well received ! The hosts had even prepared gumbo for us when we arrived and were quite pleasant to talk to ! They had a lot of tips to offer to make the most of our stay in Louisiana. Highly recommended ! Mary & Al
Happy Hoof Farm believes in making everyone happy. They could not do enough for us. Never been so spoiled by someone we had never met before. The Scott, LA brochure says that Scott is where the west begins and hospitality never ends---we think Happy Hoof Farms took that to heart. Certainly to our hearts.
These lovely folks could not have been more gracious. Everything we needed (and more) they provided. We had a lovely visit, great conversation. Come visit us in GA anytime.
Happy Hoof Farm is on acreage on a quiet road close to Scott, Lafayette and all the attractions of Cajun country. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and very generous with their time. They gave us tips on local places to visit and valuable in depth information about Cajun culture and cuisine, including providing us with some tastes of the local delicacies. They are a lovely couple who went out of their way to accommodate us and we were thoroughly spoilt. We could not recommend these hosts more highly.
Their location was away from the noise and hustle of town. The site was level and peaceful. Our hosts were an amazing couple. They provided us with a warm greeting upon our arrival, and we spent the next several hours getting to know each other and the local foods, customs and activities. We followed their advice and visited a restaurant and two free concerts in nearby Lafayette. We would highly recommend these hosts to anyone who may be traveling through their area, you would enjoy your stay.
What a great stay!! Rural farming community; quiet, peaceful..and most important, wonderful people! From hosts to good friends. What else could one want? If passing their way, give a call..Louisiana from the heartland!
Wow, couldn't have asked for a better experience. Hope to see you in the spring.
