On July 7 we sold our Bicycle shop in Florida and hit the road for summer starting with the Escapee Escapade in Essex Junction Vt. We have been taking 2 or 3 months in the hot summers of Fl. and heading North or West to find cooler climes and search out rail trails and good places to ride. In winter we reside in Floral City, Fl. about 60 miles N of Tampa, 50 miles S of Ocala, about 20 some miles from the Gulf coast kind of West Central. We live right next to the #1 rated paved trail in Fl. the Withlacoochee State Trail which is 46 miles long from Hwy 301 north to Dunellon. We have 2 small dogs and a fenced in back yard. We have space for 1 or 2 RVs for a max of 3 nights. Only hook up is water. Easy 8 mile bike ride to shopping (Publix super mkt.)and restaurants. Shamrock grill and bar just 1 1/4 mile up the trail. Lots to do if you're active and like to be outside, like biking, kayaking, hiking, geo caching. Pets are welcome.

made it all the way to Washington State this summer hitting lots of National Parks. Hope to be Volunteer camp host in 2018
Floral City Fl. is a small town that has not been ruined by sprawl.
We travel in a Nissan NV Cargo van towing a 2011 30' Evergreen travel trailer with 1 small slide.
Cindy and Regis were great hosts. Wonderful access to a great trail. Right beside their home. We would stay here again sometime. They have lots of travel experiences to share. Thanks to laballadeplata for welcoming us to your home. Tom and Joyce
We were visiting family in Floral City and are new to boondockering so wanted another experience at it. This location was near my sister’s place so we decided to try it. We spent 2 nights with Regis and Cindy at laballadeplata and it was a great spot! The grassy spot next to their RV was perfect for our Class B rig. Nice and shady with room to pull out our chairs and get comfy. Lots of birds to watch. The walking/biking trail is very nearby for quick access. Sadly we didn’t have much time to interact with our hosts as they were very busy volunteering with a biking organization and we had some family obligations. However, there was another couple boondocking on the property too and we had some time to bend their ear for a bit and ask questions. Thank you, Yvan and Sylvie for sharing your experitise and experiences...and Opti-Force 1. We plan to stop back when we’re in that area again.
Our first Boondockers Welcome stay and it was wonderful! Cindy are Regis seem to know every bike trail, campground, restaurant, and hidden gem in the country. We had a great time riding and just visiting, and Jax and Luna were fun, too. We felt like we were right at home with old friends. The site is perfect, right on the Withlacoochee State Trail. If you're lucky, Regis may even play you a tune or two! We are looking forward to seeing them again. Thank You So Much!
We spent two nights in the company of this fun couple and did not want to leave, but needed to stay on schedule. They introduced us to a new form of biking so we now have fond memories of our first adult trike ride with these precious people! Hope to host them in return someday!
We had a spectacular time at this location. Very nice, enthusiastic, and extremely accommodating hosts for sure. One warning though, they introduced us to a new addiction, recumbent trikes. They are very accomplished and knowledgeable cyclists, that just happen to live beside a beautiful bike trail. They were kind enough to introduce us to recumbent trikes, something our health will be eternally grateful for. It’s a beautiful site, easy access, great people ( like all Boondockers) and they lit the spark to a new passion. We will be returning for sure.
This was our first time staying with a BW host and, boy, they set the bar pretty high. Upon arrival, Regis and Cindy came out to help guide us into their designated parking area. We were the biggest rig they have hosted so far (43') and they had no problem getting us in. We had a very nice time chatting with them, as they were both very friendly and informative. Their property is nice and quiet and is right next to a 46-mile long walking trail (Withlacoochee State Trail) In the morning, we were able to take our dog for a walk down the trail, before hitting the road. Cindy and Regis welcomed us back and we hope we will have the opportunity to visit with them again. Just keep a good eye on the trees, as you are getting close to their house. There are some lower hanging branches, but you can avoid them. Thanks, Cindy & Regis! Tara, Chad & Daisy
sometimes you just don't want to leave... we had a blast with Laballadeplata. Exactly what boondockerswelcome is all about: meeting people on top of helping eachother. I highly recommend this host.
These folks were kind enough tolet us stay on New Year's eve. A very nice level location to park and great hospitality. If you ever want to know anything related to bicycles these folks are experts. Had a great afternoon of conversation and getting to know them. Have a great new year and happy anniversary!
We had stay 2 nights with Iaballadeplata in the little charming town of Floral city. The bike path is just near by their house and just amazing. They gaved us good suggestions for visiting area and be very generous and friendly hosts.
If you’re lucky enough to cross paths with these great people, you will make friends for life. They were our hosts for a few days, and have become friends for life. Fun loving, down to earth, and open, they are 2 sweethearts( the dogs are cute as a bonus). If they ask you to be guests, say yes, if you have the pleasure of being there guests you will learn what Boondockers Welcome is all about.
