Adventure travel, photography, hiking, and music festivals top the list for our road trips.
Paul is a master gardener, river rafter and former kayaker who uses a Sotar self-bailing raft to navigate wild rivers. He's retired from a public-service managerial career. He is also a skilled "fixer" guy, able to figure out most logistical issues on our 3.5 acre rural property.
Mary is a photographer, writer, and a yoga practitioner, retired from her writing/editing business. She writes a blog called Ordinary Life, www.ordinarylife-mk.blogspot.com.
We have a large prolific garden, which we often share with travelers, in season.
We have lived in the same spot for decades, know the Southern Oregon region well, and enjoy helping Boondockers sorting through all the travel options at their disposal within a day's drive.
We love the Oregon coast and the northern California coast; the Redwood parks in Northern California; eastern Oregon and the Hart Mountain Antelope National Antelope Refuge, Steens Mountain and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. We also enjoyOregon's Rogue and Illinois rivers and their watersheds; Death Valley, the Alabama Hills outside Lone Pine, CA and much more.
We live a mile outside of Rogue River, OR, population around 2,000, which has a couple great little restaurants and good hiking trails close by, including a gentle trail along the Rogue River. Grants Pass is just eight miles away and is a tourist destination for several reasons.
Roadtrek Agile is a 2010 model Sprinter/Dodge with a 2008 Mercedes chassis and diesel engine. No slideouts. We bought it in February 2016, have traveled from Oregon to the Eastern Canadian provinces and back, plus a five-week spring jaunt to Arizona, NM, and TX, plus numerous shorter regional trips.
Gary and I found Paul and Mary to be friendly, courteous boondocking guests and delightful company! They provided our first experience with boondocking and we couldn't have enjoyed the hosting experience more.
I enjoyed the location of this lush, green well cared for property in a safe, gated environment
Our trip to Country Serene began with with some excellent suggestions of what to see on the way in from the Oregon coast. That was followed up by a Crater Lake itinerary for the following day. It’s a fine quiet location.
Sadly for us our stay was shortened by an emergency run to the nearby Medford Regional hospital. A local treasure with a cardiac unit of some note that was able to take very good care of us.
We plan to return to the area and hopefully will be able to take full advantage of what the RogueTrek couple have to offer in terms of hospitality as well as things to see and do.
Very nice hosts with an absolutely beautiful property. I was graciously shown around the property and their amazing garden, And was gifted fresh vegetables straight from their garden. Very pleasant stay.
It was an honor and a pleasure to be your guest! :)
And as I said, it had something from to coming home...
My thanks to the hosts at Country Serene for opening their beautiful property to me. They were so accommodating, setting me up with power and water and letting me park where I wished. I was given a tour of their thriving, dazzling garden and was invited to pick all the herbs I desired. They were gracious and welcoming and I even spent part of the next day with the lady of the house who I felt like I had known forever. My experience boosted my already satisfying experience with Boondockers Welcome. Thanks again!
I stay with RogueTrek on my return trip home. It was good to know (on a rainy drive down from Washington) that I was going to have a nice safe place that I already knew about waiting for me. I got in late & left early, but electric was ready for me, so I plugged in, and had a great night.
I had a nice, although short visit, with Paul & Mary. They are very warm, hospitable hosts. The spot they had for me was perfect for my rig, & my dog Jayke was able to stretch his legs in their yard without me having to worry about him. I would definitely stay again.
Paul and Mary were awesome - very kind and generous hosts. I had a wonderful stay (parked in a perfectly level spot!) at their lovely home over Memorial Day weekend. They invited me to stay an additional night, which was unexpected but much appreciated, as I was hoping to avoid the holiday crowds. They shared a wealth of information about the immediate area as well as other parts of Oregon, and they helped me explore the area and plan the next leg of my adventure. A very peaceful setting and convenient to explore. They also very kindly welcomed my dog as well, and it was a perfect spot for him as their property is fenced. I would hope to stay with them again if I am back in the area.
Nestled right in the middle of two big hills, which was neat. Mary and Paul were so sweet, they made us feel very welcome. They even gave us some fresh asparagus from their garden!
We stayed one night at RogueTrek`s beautiful place on our way down south the US Westcoast.
We had a fun time chatting with you and felt very welcome at your place.
Many thanks for hosting us! Safe travels and take care!!!

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Very gracious, friendly, and know all the best things to do in the local area!
Beautiful setting; gracious hosts; had a wonderful time.
What a fun couple, lots of great adventures to talk about, great flat parking, and I loved listening to the frogs at night.
We stayed at this place before and we wrote a recommendation about it, which was about how this place is so good and the owners so nice. We loved the place and the experience. Thank you.

Steve and I spent one night at /rogueTrek's lovely place. We enjoyed sharing travel experiences and upcoming plans. Local Mexican food together was an unexpected plus. Hope to meet up again.
