Jerry is a Vietnam veteran and is the current VFW Post 3968 commander as well as chairman of the Richmond Cemetery Trustees and Susan is a retired office manager. We are native Richmond NH residents and started rving four years ago in our 31ft. Four Winds C class that we have made extensive improvements and updates. We have twenty acres and seventeen of which are a short walk from our home and we walk our dogs there daily. Lake Buffalo is a small beaver pond named after our late golden retriever "Buffy" it drains into Cass Pond a glacial spring fed lake a great place to fish for bass, sail our Cat, paddle a kaiak or just swim.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Jerry and Susan are retired we have done extensive upgrades and repairs to our C class including: replacing the awning, all four shocks tune-ups even upgrading the interior and much much more. We just added a wine rack for when we stay at a Harvest Host location. Also a door bell for when visitors come to call. We can comfortably live off the grid for days but miss WiFi.

Lake Buffalo's Pets

We have two Jack Russell terriers Teddy and Precious who get excited when they meet people and especially like children. They love to travel in our MotorHome.

Lake Buffalo's Hometown

Richmond NH is a small town with a population of 1156 and is the birthplace of President Garfield's mother as well as Hosia Balou founder of the Universalist Unitarian Church. At an elevation over 1100 feet we are a bit cooler in the summer so air conditioning is rarely needed.

What a beautiful place and such warm and welcoming hosts!

Jerry and Sue have such a beautiful site to host other avid RVers and they are well experienced themselves. I learned a ton from them and so enjoyed Lake Buffalo!

September 2021

What a place! And such kind and warm hosts!

I had to change my plans a couple of times before I got to Lake Buffalo and Jerry and Sue were so kind and understanding. When I arrived, I was bowled over by the beauty of their property and the pure peace and quiet. I stayed two days after a long, cross-country trip, and they were especially kind in the way they "sent me on my way" to Boston. If you understand the beauty of pure peace and quiet and value the care that private property owners are willing to offer folks who will care for their place, Lake Buffalo is a place you might want to investigate. I hope I get a chance to return one day soon.

Beautiful spot

A nice, private spot close to the lake with hiking trails and a fire pit- can't ask for much more than that! Host was very kind and gave us a long list of things to do in the area along with a pile of wood to burn. Will definitely come back if in the area.

Beautiful private meadow!

The host was very friendly and accommodating. There is a small lake behind the meadow. Simply beautiful!

Awsome host

I had a wonderful first experience scheduling and staying at Lake Buffalo! Response time from the host was quick so I was able to make my plans easily.
Jerry met me at the campsite to make sure I got situated, split me some firewood, gave me a local paper, and invited me up to the house to use their WIFI to check weather and maps for the next days travel. I got to meet Sue and the 2 friendly jack Russell's! I enjoyed a nice conversation with Jerry and Sue at the patio table overlooking the beautiful gardens. They even gave me homemade banana nut bread to take for my breakfast!
I was able to go for a swim in the lake at the nice sand beach. The campsite is private and peaceful. I would have liked to stay longer but I was running from the forecasted rain from Hurricane Henri.
I highly recommend this host and location and hope I have chance to return

We will return

What a beautiful spot! Hopefully we will return

Private Oasis

Many thanks to LakeBuffalo for hosting my family this Aug. The site was wonderfully large and private. Our host was so kind to see us in and provide a welcome kit of local attractions and access to the nearby pond and beach for swimming and kayaking. This was an excellent stop that allowed us some much needed peace and relaxation. We hope to see them again sometime soon. Thank you.

Great Place!

This is a beautiful piece of property along with a very helpful host. If I lived in the area I would make this a destination at least a few times a year.

July 2021

Very very beautiful property!

Amazing spot! So grateful!

What a Beautiful Spot!

I highly recommend staying at Lake Buffalo. Even in the pouring rain, this location is a hidden gem.

July 2021

Lovely spot, lovely people!

Their spot is just off the main road so it's super easy to find, but still quiet and secluded. I spent some time at the main house to do some downloads and the couple was very kind and made great conversation! Overall a great experience and a good time!

2 Days at the Lake

This was our first outing with BDW. If other BDW hosts are like this one, it's a great program. We felt very welcomed to his property and because the campsite is 1/2 mile from his house, we didn't feel like we were intruding. We were given information about surrounding areas of interest and with the nearby pond, it was easy to find something to do. We would definitely return to Lake Buffalo if the occasion arose.

June 2021

What a gem!

What a fabulous spot and friendly just. I can't wait to come back some day. The privacy and swim in the lake is such an added bonus! Loved our overnight stay and campfire with woo provided as a great bonus!

Wonderful Host-Wonderful Camping Spot

Great place to camp. Nice open, private area. Lake Buffalo was prompt and helpful. We had a wonderful time swapping travel stories.
Camping at its best!

Lake Buffalo

The nicest people there are. We would recommend their place for any stay.

May 2021

Great stay. Awesome host.

It was a great stay at Lake Buffalo's place. He was gracious and accommodating. There is a pretty lake on the property, accessed by a short path from the camping site. We had a pretty busy itinerary planned, such as a climb of Mount Monadnock (less then a half-hour away), so we didn't get to talk to our host that much. There were mosquitos, which I imagine is routine at this time of year in the New Hampshire woods. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable.

May 2021

Nice location and friendly host!

We just had a quick one night stay with Lake Buffalo on our way up to Acadia National Park. Nice location with hiking trails to the adjacent lake. Our host gave us great directions and had plenty of firewood if we had chosen to build one. He also came down and checked on us to make sure we got situated and needed anything. Another great experience with BDW… thank you very much!

So Private

We had a wonderful stay at Buffalo Lake. Our host was welcoming and fun to talk with. The spot was off the beaten path and a short walk to a swimming spot.

October 2020

Great Spot!

Peaceful, quiet, private, nice hike to the lake... Very nice hosts! Really happy we found this place. The hosts welcomed us with open arms! Could not have been more perfect!

October 2020

Quiet and peaceful

Fantastic location, extremely quiet. Easy access from the road, plenty of space to turn around. Was wonderful having a cup of coffee and watching the sun rise over the lake. Great communication with the host, hope to stay again some day!

Still Crazy

Quiet spot and friendly host

The host was very friendly and accommodating and brought us information re the area. Unfortunately we were only staying one night and were unable to explore. Big spot with plenty of room for 2 rvs and the tow vehicles. Extremely quiet with an easy walk to the lake. My dogs really appreciated being off leash. Would like to return and explore the area. Thanks so much!

October 2020

Just a great experience!

We easily found the remote campsite, a large clearing just off a gravel road. had a bonfire going within a half hour and enjoyed it the rest of the evening. Did see some moose tracks, so keep your eyes open, deer too! Jerry dropped by for some pleasant conversations. Nice walk to the nearby lake in the morning....thanks!

October 2020

Wonderfully secluded retreat

The location is exactly as described. We had a great time on the property and in the surrounding area.

Our host was welcoming, attentive, and helpful. We were greeted when we arrived and shepherded into our spot. We were given many tips and directions regarding the area and told where to find the Big Rock on the property (worth a visit).

We will definitely be requesting to stay here again!

August 2020

Just can't say enough good about this property and the hosts. Our first trip with the dogs and a new camper and it was perfect! The pond. The private beach. The canoe. The scenery. Just serene. Highly recommend! Thanks again!

August 2020

Memorable Experience

Our hosts were completely gracious! The site they had prepared for us was beautiful and spacious and extremely private, you couldn’t ask for more. He checked in with us every day to make sure everything was ok and pleasure to talk to. The nearby lake was refreshing and stocked with fish. We would absolutely recommend this site and Host. We would definitely stay at this site when back in the area.

Lake Buffalo

Absolutely astounding. Try once you will always return. Hosts with the most caring qualities.

July 2020

Great first

This was an unbelievable stay. Our children met us, grands too. We laughed, played, ate, swam, kayaked, hiked and played ball. Our hosts were terrific. As we are newbies a year at Boondocking I have questions of others for future campers, they sure got me all set up. This is a wonderful stay hands down. Thank you for sharing. Kerls Kastle

July 2020

Awesome Experience!

Wonderful host and a beautiful site with a gorgeous pond a short walk away. Host went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He even gave us some fresh green beans from his garden. Our little girl loved the wild blueberries along the path to the pond. We really enjoyed our time there and hope to go back someday!!!

June 2020

What an awesome spot and generous host!

Spot is minutes walk from a lake with a beach. The host gave us a beach permit so we could use it, even offered us his kayak. He was a terrific host, allowing us to pop up to us house to use his wifi. Will definitely be staying here again one day. A true hidden gem!!

June 2020

Another Great Stay

We spent a relaxing few days at this great site in the woods. Dan caught big bass in Cass Pond...the canoe and beach pass got good use! This has to be one of our favorite places to stay. We used our solar to keep power charged and dumped our tanks at the Keene Wastewater Treatment site behind the Keene Airport. A great facility! Thanks again!

June 2020

Beautiful escape

The place is awesome. There was tons of firewoood for us to use on a huge lot.

Host was so gracious, even offered us a kayak or canoe for the beautiful lake that's a short walk away through the woods.

We will certainly be back!

June 2020

A Wonderful Peaceful Place

We spent a wonderful one night stay at "Lake Buffalo" (which isn't really a Lake - ask Jerry).
We were greeted by our host after we arrived. Our host was friendly and curious about us. The site offered so much like the free firewood, outside chairs and walking paths. We availed ourselves of the town beach on Cass Pond - a welcome dip after our dusty rail trail ride. Highly recommend this host and site!

April 2020

Great Spot! Awesome Host!

We had a wonderful time. This is a beautiful spot! A lake nearby and hiking trails - who could ask for more. We had a campfire and cooked out. The host was hospitable and very familiar with the area. I highly recommend.

July 2019

Wonderful stay at Lake Buffalo

We had a great 3 days boondocking at Lake Buffalo’s site. The host met me upon arrival and directed me to the site which is down the road a bit and near Cass Pond. We had plenty of room to set up the camper and screen room. There was a nice big rock fire pit with plenty of wood. There is no cell service at the site but a short bike ride back to the hosts home we were able to use their WiFi and replenish our water supply. The host had a nice notebook with flyers of local places to visit. We went up to the Keene area and did some great bike riding on the awesome rail trails.

Look forward to an trip to this area as there is lots more to explore :-)
Thank you Lake Buffalo for a wonderful weekend in the woods!

June 2019

Awesome stay

Jerry was the most accommodating host! This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay with our new-to-us travel trailer. Jerry met us, escorted us to the camping area on his property, gave us a beach pass for the local swimming area, and even delivered a canoe to us to use. Dan caught 2 great bass on the pond near our site and we swam each night. We stayed 3 nights and toured all over the area, visiting 6 covered bridges and driving to the top of Pack Monadnock where we could see over 55 miles (as the crow flies) to Boston. We were able to test all of our systems, as well as checking out our new solar panel. We loved the entire experience and hope to visit again. Thanks Jerry! All our future Boondockers Welcome experiences will have a tough act to follow!

July 2018

Lovely generous couple

Even though I wasn't able to actually stay with these folks because it got too late and I can't drive in the dark, they were so sweet to say if Walmart wouldn't let me stay I could still come on down if I needed to since they would be up late.

June 2018

Incredible host, great location

We cannot speak more highly of Jerry's hosting site and his hospitality. We had a wonderful time by the firepit and were very thankful that Jerry had us stay. We would love to come back! Thank you Jerry.

Lovely spot and friendly hosts.

We stayed with Lake Buffalo for a couple of nights in early October and were delighted by the spot, which was close to a gorgeous lake and very quiet and secluded. Our host was friendly, kind and a great source of local knowledge and went above and beyond to help us. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there.

Very Welcoming Hosts

Spent a wonderful 3 days dry camping.
Our hosts were very responsive to email and met us on arrival to the camping site.
They took the time to welcome us and brief us on the region, where to go for groceries, and where to go have coffee.
The location is in beautiful New Hampshire with Brattleboro Vermont to the West and Covered Bridge country and Keene To the North.
Quiet and secluded, it was a wonderful spot to relax, have a campfire and enjoy nature.

We'd love to stay here again and recommend it highly!

August 2016

Great Hosts

Response time was super for our last minute holiday weekend getaway. Our host was extremely accommodating, helpful, and offered us many helpful tips while at the same time leaving us to enjoy the quiet solitude of the camp site.

Gracious to Accommodate Us Last Minute

This is my very first 24 hours on BW, and I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing. Even though it was last minute, and I was ignorant, Lake Buffalo was very helpful in taking care of my family and providing clear directions! Very grateful!
