We are starting to travel more and work less as we begin to ease ourselves into retirement. Elaine is a clinical psychologist and Jim is an educator and business owner. Torn between traveling and staying at home to enjoy our koi pond (converted from a swimming pool), our longer term goal is to split our time equally between the two. But for now we are only traveling weeks, not months, each year. We typically seek destinations that provide a good dose of nature and wildlife, but urban landmarks and museums also attract us.
Jim enjoys cooking and is handy with a toolbox. Elaine loves to strike up conversations with all kinds of people.
We have koi and turtles on our property, and one house cat we keep indoors. The cat has traveled with us on extended trips.
Originally from New Hampshire, we moved to Georgia, in 2010.
We currently drive a 2008 Gulfstream Yellowstone 23 foot class C rig, without any slide-outs.
Did not meet guess but he was very attentive and communicated with me regularly. Welcome any time.
We had a very nice visit with this couple, and really hope they will be able to stop and see us again!
Jhdricker was an amazing host. Communication was a breeze! We met and chatted for a while when I first arrived and was offered power and water hookups, although I only needed power. My RV is a 20' Sprinter van and I had no problem backing up into the space. The neighborhood is quiet (heard owls at night), nice for walking in the evening, and I and always felt safe. At the end of the road (driving distance) are restaurants, and a grocery store is not far away. A super convenient location for exploring in Atlanta. I couldn’t have been any happier. Thank you!
Close enough to Atlanta sights, but far enough away to be in the quiet. GReat host-welcomed me, provided electric and then gave privacy. Would recommend-heck, I might just stay next time I'm in town!
Appreciate your help navigating and the water fill up. Happy New Year!
We had a fantastic time at Kois Ahoy. The location is perfectly situated for everything you want to see in Atlanta and the neighborhood is extremely safe and welcoming! We got to enjoy the Coca-Cola Museum, Olympic Park and a day trip to Pettit Creek Farm in Cartersville! Our host at Kois Ahoy was very friendly and showed us his own Smyrna aquarium! We would happily return!
We had a nice conversation with jhdricker upon our arrival. This was a stopover on our way south.
Our parking spot was dark and quiet just the way we like it. We would stay again.
Kois Ahoy is a great place to stay, our host J was lovely, showed us the koi and helped us set up, and then kindly lent us some levellers as ours were too small!
If we're ever back in Atlanta, we'll be sure to stop by!
J&E were everything we hoped a BoonDockersWelcome host would be. They were eager to assist with or provide anything we needed to make our stay easier. Beautiful, quiet neighborhood close to everything yet secluded at the same time.
Thx again to you both.

We had a nice stay at Kois Ahoy! We had a short stay but they wanted to make sure we got to visit the very nice kois pond they have. It is quite an experience to see if you get the chance and they were very friendly and hospitable. The spot is a bit slanted but even they loaned us a couple of larger chocks than we had.
If you are traveling thru this area we recommend staying at Kois Ahoy!
Nice to talk with them. Kois very impressive, even when you visited Atlanta Aquarium before ... ;-)
Note: Definitly unsuitable for longer rigs!
What a wonderful and unique experience I had for my first Boondockers Welcome stay. I arrived later than anticipated but my hosts were there to greet me and helped to get my camper level with their own leveling blocks. Then they invited me into their home for a very pleasant visit. The highlight of my stay was the morning tour of the Koi operation in the back yard. I got to watch hundreds of brightly colored koi excitedly get their breakfast which was served up by my host. It was spectacular. I will be sure to stop here the next time I come through Atlanta. I look forward to seeing my new friends and their charming aquatic pets.
Stayed for 3 nights. Handy location for us. The neighborhood is made up of small steep hills with a lot of steep driveways. The driveway at this location measures 9 degrees but part of it is closer to level. We were able to plug in our heater which was really great in the chilly weather.
Our hosts were absolutely wonderful! They have converted a swimming pool into a koi fish sanctuary that is stunning. Seeing the fish and discussing the whole endeavor was one of the highlights of our visit to Atlanta.
It was so nice parking at Jim’s he was very attentive and offered to level me out with his own equipment. And he makes a great soup. His space is warm and inviting and so is the host. He has a great since of humor and I hope to visit him again on my way back up. Thank you ◕ ‿ ◕
Thank you for allowing us to park in front of your house. You were life savers and we sincerely appreciate it. Your place is in a quiet neighborhood and yet not far from the freeway, we slept like babies. We also enjoyed the tour of your koi farm, such beautiful creatures!
We hope we see you on your next California trip!

Jim is a kind and gracious host.
Jim met me when I arrived and showed me his RV that he's building out. Shared his boondocking experience. Great place to stay for the night.
I arrived in the Atlanta area and was welcomed by a very lovely couple. They provided me with everything I needed and more. The only thing that I might have needed was levelling blocks or jacks. I spent two nights and was very glad to have good WIFI to catch up on my work. They have a very interesting hobby which turned their swimming pool into a colorful pond of Koi fish. A very nice stay.
