Phyllis and I love camping, and now RVing. We very much enjoy all types of Travel, but we've found through experience that slow travel is the best.

We prefer a loose itinerary which allows for detours and changes on a whim. If we like a place we stay longer, if we can. If we hear of something interesting up the road, we can go and investigate it.

We are generally shunpikers when we travel, preferring the variety, unexpected and laid back travel afforded by the less frequented highways and back roads. Super slabs will get you from point A to point B pretty quick, but it's a "McDonalds" kind of experience.

Speaking of McDonald's, did I mention we became Vegan 6 years ago.

We love and enjoy people and we prefer, quieter and more intimate locations when we camp. We also enjoy the social aspect of RVing, rallies, robust RV parks, sharing a campfire or even a campsite and making new friends. We gravitate more toward natural surroundings. That said, RV parks have their place when 120v 30amp electric, internet, cable TV, laundry facilities and unlimited hot showers are both needed and welcomed comforts.

In our prior life we were business owners. We met in 1984, and we married in 1986. We raised 4 children from our prior "starter" marriages, and built a successful small service business in which we mitigated damages and restored structures and contents damaged by fire, water and trauma. In 2009 we sold our business.

Our children are grown with independent lives and families of their own. As of this writing we have 5 grand children.

Being retired and RVing allows us the freedom to spend time with our children and grandchildren who like most Americans have gotten pretty spread out.

It's a pretty good life.

We hosted until 2017, selling our house June 30, 2017. We have used and will continue to use Boondockers Welcome to arrange stopovers on our trips. It's a great way to meet people and make new friends.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Decent computer skills, I've studied some programming and website design, but have not applied or kept up with it. I'm handy with hand and power tools, but a master of none. Phyllis has taken up knitting and has always been a willing and valuable assistant on our do-it-yourself projects. We both have considerable business skills and experience, having owned and managed a small business for many years before successfully selling it in 2009.

I've mentioned in our bio that we've been enjoying a totally plant based diet (essentially vegan) for 6 years and are always willing to share about that. Phyllis is an excellent cook and I enjoy baking bread and other nice things to eat.

Wandering Woodheads's Pets

We love animals both domesticated and wild. not own pets at this time.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

As one becomes more comfortable with it there are many boondocking opportunities available. We've stayed on private land with permission, out west there are many opportunities on government owned BLM land, and national parks often allow it. For U.S. citizens the N.P. Senior pass is the best deal going. All camping in NPs is half price.

Wandering Woodheads's Hometown

Our former home was Virginia Beach, VA. We sold out home there June 30, 2017 and are currently full-timers.

Wonderful Guests

It was really nice meeting Pete and Phyllis. They were wonderful guests. They were gracious, courteous, and considerate. We enjoyed visiting and had good conversations about RVing and RV trips. I would certainly have them as my guest again and would recommend them to anyone considering hosting them. I look forward to visiting with them again.

Had a great time!

Pete and Phyllis visited us in Naples, FL for 2 nights. We had a great time listening to their travel adventures, trading stories, and getting Airstream information to add to our mental library for when we hit the road full time. Hopefully we can meet up somewhere again!

Wonderful first hosts!

I had a wonderful time staying here! As a first time boondocker I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I couldn't have gotten more gracious, welcoming, helpful hosts, and in a beautiful area! Can't recommend enough!
