I am a retired RN and I may be carried into a hospital on a stretcher for some doctor to confirm that I have croaked (because I died during my sleep cocooned in my rig), but I will not enter willingly again!
I have been living in my 1996 Tiffin Allegro Bus since September, 2015. I downsized and gave away or sold everything except my library, Tuffy (my cat), and several boxes of memorabilia. What I needed in the way of clothing, linens, cooking paraphernalia, etc., I loaded into the ample storage of my rig, affectionately known as "The Beast" and off I went on the biggest, most-fun-so-far adventure of my life!! I spent the fall in upstate New York volunteering at a retreat center that I love. I watched the full spectrum of fall colors ease across the mountains and raked leaves until my arms ached. I picked apples from trees that never get a whiff of pesticide, peeled them, cooked them, shared them and relished it all. I left with a quart of applesauce, an organic butternut squash and the knowledge that I really could live in my rig. After spending some time with a diesel mechanic, we cruised out of the northeast and on to the midwest.
Tuffy, The Beast, and I have been hanging out in Missouri with family since Thanksgiving. The Beast has new roller shades and new tires. She's also sporting a brand new roof and we got rid of that pesky, old, unsightly satellite. We are all set to cruise Route 66, up Highway 1 to the Redwoods.....and beyond! I anticipate being in Colorado with friends soon after the snow melts. There is no time-table and I intend to allow the days and my adventure to unfold, moment by moment, in the easiest, most delightful ways imaginable. Maybe we will see you soon! :)
I am skilled in Therapeutic Touch. I'm a great listener. I can help you put on a bandaid or get you an ice pack and call 911 -- that's the extent of nursing expertise I can offer, just for the record :)
I'm new to boondocking and so far have only ventured into Walmart parking lots and a really great rest stop near Rend Lake in Illinois.
I grew up in Kansas City, MO and have spent my adult years in the southeast. My last residence was a cabin in the north Georgia mountains. I've lived in Mississippi (please don't hold it against me--there are wonderful folks there), Florida, and Alabama.
/Users/trennaross/Desktop/IMG_1166.jpg My rig is a 1996 Class A Tiffin Allegro Bus. She is affectionately known as "The Beast"! She is 35 feet long and is sporting a new roof. The Beast earned her name going up the mountain to my cabin and squeezing into the driveway, seriously, it was the scariest part of the trip from Denver (where I picked up the rig). No slide outs. No funky decor :)
