<<We're longtime fans of AirBnB, Uber, and other person-to-person ways of doing things; we thought we'd try this out this summer for our East Coast camping trip! We are four adults--two retired snowbirds, two grown daughters--in the one camper this trip, with a small car accompanying... from Saskatchewan to P.E.I. and back! (One of us has been all over the world... but not seen much of her own country!)>>
Brian is a retired seismic surveyor and Deb is a retired schoolteacher. Brian and Deb raised two daughters and a son in northern Sask, and now spend their winters golfing and relaxing in New Mexico and/or Arizona. Marnie is an executive assistant in Calgary for ATCO, and Jenn is an expat, writer, wife, and mum currently living in Saudi Arabia.
Brian loves to chat--and play!--golf, hockey, baseball... pretty much all sports. He enjoys getting to know folks in casual settings (and, after some initial hesitation at the concept, is now perhaps the MOST excited to avoid the busy campgrounds and try this whole boondocking thing!). While Brian is the most likely to stay back at the camper while the girls drive into the cities to sight-see, he has surveyed all over western Canada and the northern US before retirement, and has since traveled to Sweden, Iceland, and Saudi Arabia (as well as through much of the United States) for some adventure.
Debbie is an avid quilter, golfer, and crossword maven! She's been all over the world, either visiting family or taking tours on her own. A city girl at heart, Deb loves going to museums, cultural events, or even just to the movies. Whatever's going on, Deb is up for it. :)
Marnie is a busy Executive Assistant at ATCO. Based in Calgary much of the year, she also travels worldwide whenever she can. Having toured Europe with a choir as a young adult, Marnie's the one to ask if you'd love to bring out the guitar and have someone lead some songs around the campfire--or start up some games!
Jenn is currently based in Saudi Arabia on an oil compound with her husband. Between visiting their kids and extended family in various states, and trying to visit as many neat places in the world while living overseas, she's so far missed the chance to see all but a few Canadian provinces! While Brian, Deb, and Marnie have driven all the way to P.E.I. and back at least once before, Jenn's excited to see more of her home country at last.
(And in case it's a concern for you, all four of us have been fully vaccinated for months now.)
Not with us, sadly. :)
While none of us have boondocked before, between the four of us, we have stayed at AirBnBs and local vacation rentals in about 30 different countries over the years. Person-to-person is ALWAYS best! We look forward to meeting you. :)
Pierceland, SK (way up north)
1987 Chevy Vanguard 21 ft. Class C motorhome; may sometimes be accompanied by small "getaround" Toyota Corolla (driver sleeps/stays in camper).
We enjoyed hosting this group and sharing stories. They were quiet and respectful and we would welcome them back again.
Ce fut un court séjour mais un réel plaisir de rencontrer la famille Érickson
Bonne route à vous quatre :)
Parents with two daughters, all friendly and easy to get along.
Welcome back any time.
This family is so gracious and down to earth. Dad was an absolute joy to talk to about Arizona and New Mexico.
Even with a storm that brought torrential rain and trees falling it didn't seem to dampen their spirits.
Was happy one of our guys fix their steps for them to make it easier in and out of the camper.
They are truly on a family adventure and honestly I'm kind of envious of them.
Three of them in the motor home and one in the tent seems to be a fantastic way for them to enjoy.
Would love the opportunity to host this family again and enjoy their great vibe.
Wishing them nothing but safe travels and a great adventure.
Considerate, friendly guests - happy to welcome them to Sailorsrest again.
