Born and raised in the south, we have lived in Kansas over 45 years with the last 25 on our quiet peaceful acreage in the boondocks. ;)
The man of the house is retired from a communications and a gps company. And No, he is not a whiz at it as technology has quickly changed. Now we reach out to our super smart grandsons to answer our tech issues.
He enjoys old cars, working out at the gym, and doing things that need to be done around the land. The woman of the house is a retired secretary, who prefers a good book by the fire in the winter to shopping at the mall. Summer will find her outside enjoying the flowers she planted or wandering the fields enjoying the amazing wildflowers.
We are both eager to get on the road and see more of our beautiful country after a year of Covid 19. Both of us are fully vaccinated. But we keep masks available and wear them where required. Unfortunately with the spread of the Delta variation, we may ask that you wear a mask.
We have a very friendly yellow lab who is white. Baxter may travel with us when on short trips. He loves to meet and greet people but normally is very laid back after that.
When at home, Baxter has a kennel that he can access from our home. It is to protect him not visitors. He is a very loving dog and will only want to check you out and let you become part of his family.
There is a field that is fenced and is a great place for off lease play if you have dogs that need freedom to run.
Multiple deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds of all kinds enjoy our property and we watch over them as if they are pets. If you take a stroll though the fields you will most likely see some wildlife and if our neighbor's horses, donkeys, or cows are in their north pasture, they may come over to investigate. The horses and mini donks will be looking for carrots. The cows are just curious.
Having experienced staying in crowded RV resorts/parking lots last fall, we were eager to try Boondockers Welcome. Both happy experiences, we were able to enjoy two different BW locations in the mountains of Kentucky and North Carolina this June 2021. Each host set examples of how to be welcoming and gracious hosts when we have guests on our property. We look forward to giving fellow BW members a safe and restful spot to spend the night. We realize there are nights that visiting is welcome and other nights when just a good night sleep is needed. 👍
We have also enjoyed Harvest Hosts and look forward to staying at them again.
As I said we live in the boondocks, definitely not in town. about 7 miles West of Osawatomie Kansas and 17 miles Southeast of Ottawa Kansas. There are a couple of little communities nearer than those but neither have shopping or gas. There are two Walmarts but each are about 17 miles from us. If you are coming from the West and need gas and groceries, stop in Ottawa. If from the East, Paola, Ks is your closest Walmart but you can get gas at convenience stores in Osawatomie- just no real grocery shopping.
Our rig is a 2017 Coachmen Leprechaun. We do not currently have a toad.
Really enjoyed visiting with these two. Very polite quite campers and well behaved dog. We hope to visit their host spot in the future. They are welcome back again.
We were happy to host TimnFaye. Interesting couple from NC originally now living in Kansas. You're welcome back anytime.
What a friendly couple! We were so glad the weather was comfortable enough for a driveway visit during TimnFaye's overnight here. We enjoyed good conversation with them and hope they'll return at some point in the future--or maybe we'll end up at their host location. We highly recommend hosting this friendly and conscientious couple.
