Outgoing couple like to visit local attractions and local restaurants.
We travel with our 5 dogs. We enjoy relaxing around our camping spot.
Our RV travel days started because we simply cannot travel without our dogs!
We picked different destinations to find the ideal place to retire.
Then we realized that we want to travel full time in our RV when we retire.
Electrician, construction/renovation, computer/smartphone problem solving, RV systems repair/troubleshooting.
We travel with our 5 dogs and sometimes two of our cats!
We like to try boon-dock when we are on the way to our Destination or back.
We are also considering boon-docking within 2-3 hours from home on weekends!
36ft 2007 Coachmen Aurora Motorhome with one full side slide usually towing a Kia Soul. With some additions like hardwired surge suppressor, electric heat in plumbing and tank areas, other electrical upgrade to allow a few space heaters in RV for winter travel. Upgrade shower head, etc... We need a pull thru location when we pull our Kia.
What a great place to stay. Beautiful spot with lots of space and very kind hosts. Did not see much of them due to their schedules, but they allowed us to stay and enjoy their island. Lots of hiking and quaint towns to visit.Thank you, hope our paths will cross again SwedishBlonde
We are grateful for the opportunity we had to stay at HomeAwayFromHome. They were gracious host, and had a very beautiful yard for our kids to play in. Being close to DC, and being able to stay long enough to see everything we wanted to, it was fantastic. It was about a 45 minute drive to the Metro station, and we took the train into the city from there. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to visit DC.
Thanks so much for a 3 night stay...it is a truly great place to access DC. I drove to newcarrolton amtrac and caught the metro train 2 days. Worked well. Thank you. A. G.
We spent two nights, and it was a great location to access Annapolis, one of our favorite places on the planet. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - we are new to the RV life and had some questions he was able to help with, and we enjoyed meeting them and the fur babies. Getting our 40' rig into the driveway was a bit of a challenge for us newbies, and he was very helpful with that as well. Hope to return and maybe spend more time.
Friendly couple with beautiful fur babies. We were having some financial struggles due to car repairs while traveling and HAFH opened their doors to us. For boondocking accommodations they were 5⭐'s. They had nice, big grassy area for my little ones to run around while my older ones were able to bike safely to the bay. We hope to see you guys again under better financial circumstances so we can hang out more. God Bless you!
They were very nice, we arived a little bit later than expected, and they helped me set up and get all connected in, really enjoyed the time there, it rained a little bit, but we made the most of it. And the best past, they were Canadians!! Thanks! The M Family
We just spent 2 weeks in a great spot with wonderful hosts. This was a return visit for us and had been planned for when we were there in November. We joined them for a charity dinner, and shared dinner in our coach. Host D helped us with 2 problems with our coach. In view of limited (and expensive) options near Washington DC, this is a good option for exploring the DC area. Drive to a Metro station and take the train from there. In view of how long we stayed with a 50 amp h/u, we gave our hosts a voluntary monetary contribution as we left.
Thank you for your great welcoming. It was nice to meet you. We hope to see you next time. Cheers French Family
It was our first BoondockersWelcome experience and this great couple was not only very welcoming but they had everything we needed, much more than anything we expected! Also their house and the island were very beautiful, fun and easy to get around, even by foot. Thanks again and we hope our paths cross again someday! Danny & Gabrielle
Our hosts were friendly, very accommodating hosts. He is an electrician and made sure we had a 50 amp connection and also educated us about how to install our new tank probes, as well as some other electrical info. When we arrived we were invited to join them for the weekly Elks dinner, which was a nice alternative to cooking our own. We will probably return on our way back north in the spring.
HomeAwayFromHome exceeded my expectations as hosts. They were very friendly and helpful. I had just purchased my first trailer and needed a last minute place to store it for a bit. They responded right away and were able to accommodate me. They also helped me out with my trailer - gave me some recommendations on things to fix up and had some spare parts in storage to help get me started. Their places was easy to get to. I would definitely love to come back next time I pass through.
