Darrell and Candice farm in SE South Dakota. Darrell is 63 and Candice is 60. We've been married 41 years. Our children are grown and we enjoy spending time with them and our grandchildren. We love traveling in our motorhome, meeting and visiting with new people. We like to travel south in winter to the Texas and Arizona area. We like to ride our Polaris RZR, do some kayaking, attend NASCAR races and make new friends along the way.
Darrell is a welder and very handy with many things. Candice loves her flower and vegetable garden.
We have a golden lab/retriever mix dog. Her name is Star. She cheerfully welcomes all our visitors. Unfortunately, she doesn't travel well so she stays at home and watches the place when we are gone.
We've boondocked at Quartzsite, near Yuma and at Glamis, CA. Can't wait to try other spots!
Darrell grew up on a farm just a mile from where we live right now. Candice grew up in another small town about 20 miles from here; Irene, SD.
2018 Newmar Dutch Star 4369. We tow either just our Jeep Wrangler or a 24' enclosed trailer with the Jeep, RZR and our kayaks inside. Gotta have the toys with! We are approximately 72 feet long when we are towing the trailer.
i was so grateful to meet candice and darrell and to have the opportunity to stay at their beautiful farm. they are truly kind people and were also super accommodating with my travel plans changing a bit. thank you for an amazing stay :)
Candice & Darrell were the best hosts we could ask for! They have a beautiful property and wonderful camping area and oh so level 👍. We were so happy we chose to stay at their place for our overnight stay, and will definitely schedule again if we're in the area again. And I also have to give a kudos to their mascot "Star" for keeping a watchful eye over us while we were there, and for leading us out on our departure! Had a great stay 😄
We were over the moon to be able to stay at River's Edge. Amazing hosts. Their area had just been hit hard with about 7 inches of rain and many framers including them were probably losing some of their crops. Although they were dealing with a serious situation they still welcomed us and even came out to meet us to make sure the bridges were not flooded. They helped us get settled in our full hook up spot including 50amp. Thye got us extra blocks to help level as the ground was very muddy. We chatted quickly and then they let us get set up as they had to continue checking on their area. Their farm dog Star was super welcoming to our dogs and they had a great time running around together. Our view of the river was amazing. We saw deer across in the meadow along with the evening lightning bugs. We had a great nights sleep and in the morning as we were packing up our amazing hosts came out to check on us, and again they went to check the roads and rerouted us out due to more flooding. We enjoyed a quick chat in the morning before heading out. Great time thank you to our amazing hosts!
Thank you to our host even though we didn't visit to much as the 4 inches of rain kept us indoors alot we still had a needed rest and was able to cook a couple of meals ahead of time. We loved the farm and met there dog that run the roost our dogs got along one day in the future we will back thru happy RVing. Thank you
They were nice enough to let us stay even though they were not home.
Fantastic set up. The power, water and sewer was a pleasant addition.
We were entertained by fire flies, star filled skies and their very freindly dog.
Wish we had been able to meet each other.
What a wonderful stay at Rivers Edge.
The camping spots are well engineered and tidy.
The whole property is a gem on the plains!
Their dog is a happy companion that got along great with our two dogs.
The hosts are a gracious and warm hearted couple.
I highly recommend these folks if you are in the area.
We had been traveling for three hard days We so needed a day to reset. Fishing. Bike riding. Walking with views. Great dog. Very welcoming to children. Also a playground they let our six year old have at it. Can’t recommend enough.
Rivers edge is wonderful’s spot with a full hook up and very very nice hosts
No one could ask for more. Star the dog to keep me company and watching wildlife including a bald eagle & deer at the rivers edge. Very gracious and accommodating folks thank you.
These hosts were so very helpful, and such lovely people. Wish we could have spent more time here, they have the most beautiful peaceful setting you could ever wish for. Fell in love with their Dog Star too!
We loved our stay at rivers edge. We were greeted at the gate and shown to our spot which was right next to the river. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and our children loved thier dog who was very friendly. Thanks for the peaceful stop.
We can’t say enough goodthings about this place or the host. Our dog Jax and two boys played & played with their dog star until she was tuckered out. Can’t wait until our travels bring us back to this place again.
The hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly and the spots were in a grassy area overlooking the river. A wonderful experience.
River’s Edge is situated amongst miles and miles of farmland in the beautiful heart of America. The stars at night were amazing! The parking location on the property was a very easy in and out and there were FULL hookups - water, sewer, 50amp electric, and a picnic table! Our kids loved playing with their dog who is incredibly friendly and gentle. It was a very easy 30/40 min drive to Sioux Falls and a doable four hour journey to the Mall of America (our kids were dying to see it lol). I would gladly return if we find ourselves in the area again!
This was truly a great experience. Great place to stay. Our host were the best we could ask for. Very accommodating and engaging.. I just can't imagine anything better..Thank you so much for the privilege of staying with you.
We made short notice request (less than 24 hrs) for an overnight stop. Hosts responded within a few hours and welcomed us to stay with them the next day. Fantastic communication the following day. We arrived last in the evening just after sunset. Darrell meet us and we chatted briefly. We were tired and he gave us directions into town to a great place to eat. When we returned it was straight to bed. Slept great and well rested the next morning. Their RV sites back up to the river. Easy in/easy out to interstate. Candice met up with use before we left. You could not ask for better hosts. True RVers. We hope to stop by again next year.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Great down to earth people. Very beautiful quiet place out in the country. Only regret is not spending more time with them and Star....
Thank you both for your hospitality! And yes....... we will will call before showing up!
We had a very nice time at their place ! It is an oasis in the green desert. A lot of love and work went into setting up their place and it shows. Thanks a lot for hosting us, and sorry for the late review as internet is not always available to us on our trip.

We stayed over one night with Riversedge. This couple over welcomed us, although we arrived late in the evening and lost our way in the dark. They droved specially to meet us to show us the way to their 2000 Acre farm.
The full hookup spot was discovered the morning near a nice river.
We wish we had more time to stay.
Pay attention: CENTRAL Standart Time.
1st things 1st. If you are ever needing an overnight in the Sioux Falls area, this is were you want to stop. Beautiful place, very warm & friendly couple, terrific dog, & great boondocking spots right on the Vermillion River. And be sure to step outside at night & enjoy the dark star filled sky. I will definitely be stopping here again in my travels.
We had a great time, and this being the first place we have stayed using Boondockerswelcome, the bar has been set high! Green manicured grass, full hookups, nice picnic tables, playground, fire BBQ pit, easily accessible, and fantastic host! The kids loved playing with the dog, and we loved grilling fresh sweet corn from the farm. We highly recommend this host for anyone who wants a nice quiet place to boondock for a few nights. It is about 30 minutes south of Sioux Falls, which was a cool city to visit. We recommend checking out Falls park if you make it here.
Absolutely fantastic this is an oasis after a long day on the road. The camp site is green and very well kept overlooking a river and corn fields as far as the eye can see. Our hosts greeted us with a warm Midwest welcome and we very munch enjoyed the evenings conversation. Star was a steadfast supervisor and assistant (lumber dog) as we set up our rig. We would absolutely recommend Riversedge as an outstanding boondocking location with exceptionally gracious and friendly hosts.
You could not ask for a better place to stay or friendlier, kinder hosts.
Darrell and Candice waited up late for us after we blew a tyre enroute and ended up needing our truck fixing as well - and still welcomed us with smiles.
The site was spacious and green and the view was gorgeous. Our kids enjoyed roaming the river and the farm and playing with their sweet dog, Star. All in all it was an oasis of peace in beautiful countryside with kind, friendly hosts who were quick to smile. Highly recommend them to anyone. <emoji>
What a beautiful, peaceful place to boondock. My wife and I were so pleased to find such a lovely place. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer, and their dog, Star, is just a delight! We would definitely stay at Riversedge again given the opportunity. Highly recommended!
This place is amazing!! The most peaceful and relaxing spot we've been to in a long while. You can't find this kind of peace in any campground. The hosts were so welcoming and hospitable and kind. And their dog Star was icing on the cake! Star is so playful and funny and cute. You don't want to miss this place! AAA+++
Beautiful site right on the river, view of fields and a sweet old guard dog named Star who protects your campsite at night and plays fetch with sticks in the morning. Hosts were extremely hospitable and it was like being at a state park with all the amenities! Thanks again, Riversedge!
Great hosts with beautiful property. We enjoyed our time and our site was great, right on the river. Easy in and out. We would definitely use them again.
We stayed 2 nights here and were greeted by a full hookup great hosts and Star the lumber dog This is boondocking at its best
We stayed at Riversedge while in the Sioux Falls area to set up our residency and Riversedge were amazing hosts. Their farm dog, Star, is as friendly as can be and the location is peaceful and perfect. The spots are beautiful, easy to get into with views of the working farm and river. We rode our bikes all through the back farm roads. This was our first stay on Boondockers Welcome. We highly recommend Riversedge if you are in the area and they have an opening.
We stayed here in June and were new to boondocking. Staying here was exactly what you would hope for when boondocking...serene location yet not too far from highway, very nice family-oriented people, friendly dog who escorts you out, plus they leave the light on for you! We definitely hope to stay here again if ever in the area!
We had a wonderful relaxing time on Riversedge property. We were able to completely recharge ourselves, while taking care of all the RV living essentials.
Our hosts were very kind and helpful, greeting us with a smile and making us feel at home, and a big bonus was their dog Star, who was playful and sweet.
We highly recommend Riversedge, and hope we get a chance to see them again down the road.
Highly recommend staying with these folks. The highlight was their small retriever Star who captured our hearts with his friendly company. The property had full hook ups and was right beside a small river. Peaceful, and we even had a firepit!
What a wonderful boondocking location! Full hookups, great views, sweetest puppy EVER, and amazing hosts! We stayed for a few days in June 2017, and our hosts made us feel so comfortable. They took us on a tour of their grounds and buildings(and enjoyed an adult beverage with us). We couldn't have asked for more gracious hosts, and having full hookups was most excellent! One note: our GPS tried to make us turn left onto the side road before the location instead of taking us directly to the location, so we had to call and figure out what was going on. It did it twice, so just be prepared to call them.
Riversedge is amazing. The hosts were so gracious the moment we got on property. We learned so much about the farming community in the South Dakota area thanks to both of them and their friends. The setting is perfect, the 3 full Hookup sites back right up to the river that runs through their property. Their dog was just hanging around all day, made you feel like you were home. If you are lucky you may have their super nice friends camp next to you for a night! Thanks again and look forward to coming back soon!

Pulling into the property actually feels like coming home. You will be greeted by the friendliest farm dog ever, then escorted to a full hookup site. Thanks so much River' Edge Farm for being so generous and gracious. We hope in your future travels we will be able to host you at Travelers Rest. We stayed at River' Edge Farm on May 17, 2017.
Truly, a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. Farmland all around; a river right behind; and these wonderful people know how to make guests feel welcome! I know they love to travel by the way they have prepared their Boondocking campsite! 5***** Star recommendation. Thanks from both of us
Beautiful spot with full hook up and picnic table right on river. Host was great to communicate with, friendly and happy to answer my burning Midwest farming questions. Make sure you check out the water feature the host built and say hello to Star for us. Loved this stay! Thanks again.
Darrell and Candice are two of the friendliest, most generous folks you could ever hope to meet! Despite our last-minute request to boondock on their property, we were welcomed warmly. The spot was beyond perfect with a wondrous view over the Vermillion River and beyond. Our kids spent hours exploring the banks of the river and hunting for rocks. Can't recommend this place highly enough!
I drove in to Darryl and Candice's place and was in awe of the beauty! They have campsites set up right on the Vermillion River and it's breathtaking! They were so welcoming and are such a nice couple! And their dog, Star, greeted us and kept us company. What a sweetie! This is a Boondocking experience you will never forget!
We are also new to boondocking, so were wonderfully surprised that they so readily accepted our request to boondock with them. Not only was the property beautiful, we parked right next to the river and they provided full Hook-up. It would be wonderful if the whole country was made up of people like them! And they could be our lifetime neighbors. Maybe we can run into them again when they take their travel in the fall.

We originally were stopping at Riversedge for one night, but due to a flat tire and then some snow we stayed longer, and it was great. They were so kind and accommodating and really went above and beyond in every way. The property is AMAZING. Our pup got to run and play with theirs and we got to have a great night of rest and relaxing after a long drive. We hope to see them again in our travels!
