Born and raised near Detroit Mi. Joined the Navy 1972. Spent 6 years active duty. Honorable discharge. Jobs were depressed in Detroit when I got out, so I stayed in Ca.(for the next 30+ years). I spent most of that time working on the San Francisco waterfront, (which is really in Oakland Ca.). I repaired refrigeration unit for shipping containers. I also had jobs working on over the road units like you see on 18 wheel trucks. The last 3 years that I worked I spent Mon-Fri in my 30' RV on company property,(Oakland Ca), then on weekends I had a house in the mountains,(Sonora Ca.). When I was younger I did quite a bit of car and motor cycle camping. I retired about 6 years ago and moved here about 5 years ago. I have lived on power boats, sail boats, RV's, apartments and houses. My hobbies are wood working, guitar, motorcycles, firearms, computers, (not in any particular order).
On my profile page I don't see a place to change site description so I will put it here.
I don't drink, drug, or smoke, (not saying that I never did). I don't mind if you drink socially or smoke, but please don't get wasted or toss cigarette butts on my property. Friendly dogs are welcome here, but aggressive ones are not. I hate to sound negative, but these are deal breakers for me.
I have 30 and 50 amp RV Power receptacles, and the water is from my well. It tastes just as good to me as bottled water. My listing says no generators because there is electricity available here. I like being considerate to my neighbors. Noise levels,(including music), have to be kept to reasonable levels.
I will provide you with a garbage can or two if needed. The dump here is paid for with the property taxes and I make a run about once a week. If I am home, most likely the washing machine, dryer, and bathrooms will be available. My driveway and the parking site are gravel. The streets are blacktop.
I worked as a mechanic most of my life, and I have most power and hand tools. I am not offering free labor and I really don't need to make any money, so I may help you with a project if I have time but I will most likely not be interested in doing a project for you. I have built computers as a hobby for 30 years.
Most of my post is about offering a place to stay. Maybe next year I will get out a little bit more.
I live about halfway between Death Valley Ca. and Las Vegas Nv. in a town named Pahrump. The name of the town comes from an American Indian word meaning water rock. The surrounding area is desert, but there is a lot of ground water in this valley. It is about 60 miles West of Las Vegas Nv. The population here is about 30,000. We have one Home Depot and one Walmart super center. Two fairly good sized grocery stores as well. There are a few casinos and a couple of dozen restaurants. I like the food here and it is starting to show. I think the towns main source of income is from people who are retired. Some commute to Las Vegas, others work at the old nuclear test sight north of here. The violent crime level here is very low. Open carry of firearms legal and popular. Many concealed weapons permit holders as well. There are a lot of retired law enforcement and military here. The town is serviced by the Nye County Sheriffs Department, while the Nevada Highway Patrol generates revenue on the two highways coming into town. In one stretch the speed limit drops to 35 even though the road could easily handle 45. Summers here are hot, and sometimes humid,(July). The nights usually cool down to the 80's. Winter nights get below freezing, but daytime temps are usually in the mid 50's or 60's. It can be quite windy here, but that is not the usual norm. If you are traveling between Death Valley and Las Vegas this is a good place to stop. Fuel prices are reasonable.

Sorry for the delay Danny. We thought we left you a positive rating a LONG time ago! Hope all is well and life is GREAT.,

Dan and Nikki were very accommodating. I was delayed a day by severe weather in Oregon, so I kept him posted on my progress. Dan gave good directions to his place once I was closer to arrival. He provided me with 15 amp power for lights and the furnace. His property is well set up for a variety of RV's. Nikki is a delightful, welcoming furry friend. Two Thumps Up
Danny is a very gracious host. We will stay with him again in the future. Thank you Danny!
Danny was a great host with a lot of knowledge and good conversations to offer. His boondocking spot is perfect for enjoying the desert and he made us feel as old friends. You'll also get to meet Nicky the dog, who was just wonderful. We really recommend this host !

We really enjoyed staying on Danny's property. He was very friendly and we had some great chats ... but he gave us our privacy. We love his dog, too -- very cute. WiFi was great, satellite worked (wide open area), so all was good.
I spent a few days with Danny in Feb 2017. I had a couple of maintenance items on my trailer I wanted to get done while there. He was sooo helpful; we worked side by side until the job was done. He was a great help. He's also a huge animal lover. My dog quickly learned he had treats in his pocket. His property is easy to get to, has a great view of the mountains and is only a couple of miles from downtown shopping.
We were for 2 nights at this place while visiting Death valley and Danny was a super host toward us! We felt very welcome and danny was a great help with recommendation of what to see and do. He even offer to look after our dog while we were in death valley and this was such a relief for us knowing that our big baby was ok! I recommend this host anytime and if sometime we come back to Pahrump, we will make sure to contact him again! Thank you for everything :)
Great stop between Las Vegas and Death Valley. Parumpf would have whatever you may need, and Dan's house is quiet and safe. It was fun talking with Dan and checking out his projects. I did a little quick project work on our camper while there too. Thanks Dan!
We had a nice one night stay with Dan.
His location was our gateway to Death Valley. It is only a 1Hr. drive. He had plenty of room for our 24 ft rig with water and electric (any kind of plug in you may need). Wish we had more time to spend with Dan. The popsicles were great.
danny was a great host, he has great views of the mountains. he generously let us stay in his yard and let our dogs run in his expansive side yard. He has tremendous knowledge of the area, and was really helpful. He let us use some electricity, which was really kind. We hope to swing by and see him again in the future, as he was the perfect combination of kind, her[ful, and letting us do what we needed to do. Thanks danny! barb and kevin
