Retired in 2012 and have been on the road since. Planes, trains, boats, car and rv any form of transportation that will get us somewhere new is great. We are new to the RV lifestyle but have enjoyed our trips so far. We have a 2005 27' Forest River Lexington bought on ebay sight unseen with our fingers crossed. It has turned out amazing, only 6,000 original miles and we have put 10,000 on it in less than two years.
Steve is retired from Civil Service after spending his last 13 years at the United States Air Force Academy. I retired from Procter and Gamble n 2006 after 12 years to enjoy my grandchildren and successfully fight breast cancer.
We have seen mid-America, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida to California in our motor home. We are looking forward to many more adventures.
2005 Forest River Lexington
This was a wonderful stop. This couple was very warm and welcoming. We had a lovely tour of the Air Force Academy, learn a great deal about it.
For the last year or so, we had been playing with the idea of signing up for Boondockers Welcome but never got to actually do it. Finally, this past week, we decided to give it a try and signed up for the yearly membership, which is very inexpensive and we can HONESTLY say that it has been one of the best decisions we have made since we started our RV adventure! … Our first hosts, are some of the nicest people we have ever met and we would have gladly pay a lot more than the $30 we paid for the annual membership, just to have the pleasure of getting to know these amazing couple! Thank you for putting together such a great system were we not only get to spend a night at someone property for free, but most importantly and even a greater benefits, we get to meet amazing hosts! … We cannot wait to meet many more awesome people that are part of the #boondockerswelcome movement!
While travelling up north, we stayed in Monument for just one night. Would loved to have stayed longer with these kind people. Felt sorry to leave and hope to be back next year. Thanks very much for everything!
We had a really great time, we took advantage of Susan's recommendation and visited both Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods. Introduced Stin to Margarita wine.
Its wonderful when you make an immediate connection with people and have so much in common. We were treated like lifelong friends during our 3 day visit. Stin gave up their time to play tour guide for us did everything possible to make our visit memorable. I know we'll catch up with them somewhere in the world in the future. The driveway has a slight slope so be prepared for a little scrape if your RV has a long overhang like ours. Great location for visiting the area attractions.
Stayed here for the weekend to take in the sites of the area, the Hosts are VERY accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed and offered some insights to local sightseeing attractions. We are new to boondocking, only having done this once before, but hosts like this make it an enjoyable experience!
Stin are two of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They treated us like family and offered us anything we needed. They gave us information and recommendations on the area and even shared a wonderful breakfast with us. They are in close proximity to Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak. We very much enjoyed our time there and getting to know the two of them. If we are ever back in the area, we would absolutely visit or stay with them again.
We stayed 2 nights with our hosts Steve and Susan at their home north of Colorado Springs. We were their first boondockers and they were excellent hosts. They went out of their way to help us get settled and made sure we had everything we required. They provided helpful advice on things to see and do in their area. We enjoyed our visit and chatting about our experiences. When we were leaving, they stood at the foot of their driveway waving Canadian flags - how thoughtful!
If you are in this area, we would recommend this boondockers location.
