We are the Standiford Family, a family of four plus two pets who have decided to do things differently because we can. There’s really nothing eloquent to say, it isn’t political, it isn’t deeply philosophical, we don’t harbor any desires to go off the grid and go survivalist. We have a very simple philosophy of life. Do what you love. That’s all. Our lives are directed on taking full advantage of our short time on this earth to see, do, love, and try as much as possible and be self-sufficient as possible. We don’t do anything just because it’s socially acceptable, we don’t allow ourselves to be driven by external expectations. We want to live as authentically as possible and teach our kids that who they are is not only enough, but also amazing.
The concept of travelling for an extended period has been a romantic idea we have carried as a couple for many years, and we have been moving toward this experience consciously and unconsciously for several years. It’s nothing flashy, nothing showy, it’s just us doing life. This blog was started once we recognized that people had a lot of questions about how this lifestyle works out. As of the start of this adventure we have a baby (one in August 2020), a five year old (6 in October 2020), a English Springer Spaniel, and a cat. So we have had a lot of details to sort out from making sure everyone has space to homeschooling for the first time – and figuring this all out during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yes we have a sweet English Springer Spaniel named Phoebe.
2012 Forest River Grey Wolf. White, with the really corny wolf pack art on the front. Being hauled by a 2020 Toyota Tacoma, black.
Great guests. Loved having them here. Would be more than happy to have them come visit again. Safe journeys and blessings from the farm.
We were not around much for your second visit but were glad to host you. Wishing you terrific memory makers as you journey along!!
Great guests, friendly people. It was a pleasure meeting them. They’ll always be welcome to come back
