Professional Couple Exploring on Sea & Land

Active Guest

Do you know or have you hosted this user?

We follow the GOLDEN RULE. We are Ed & Sue, and previously sailed to 49 countries on shores of 5 continents as live aboard sailors for 13 years. But now we are exploring by land in our 2020 Promaster 3500. We have self converted and built out our new VAN to be a stealthy nice looking totally self contained 22 foot live aboard vehicle. Our vehicle named RESPONSE is equipped for winter cold wx, w/solar energy, lithium ion batteries and satellite communications. We pack out what we pack in and are prepared for anything and volunteer for emergencies as a communications van. We are ham radio affectionados K0FLA. Please call the number you receive when we accept your request. We have a Spam Arrest screener on phone so please leave name & number.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Avid exploring advice and practical tips on living aboard a vessel or in a mobile vehicle. We speak publicly and many have welcomed us and encouraged us sharing our stories.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

We love the open road and traveling over the horizon.

SailorPilot's Hometown

We both grew up in small Iowa towns (West Liberty & Iowa Falls), have worked as medical and legal professionals in Iowa, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC, and while exploring lived and called our boat home while spending significant time living in: Caribbean; London; Istanbul; Gibraltar; Madeira; NYC; Gloucester, Mass; Chicago; Stewart, FL; Hope Town, Bahamas & have now cruised to New Bern, NC where we have a cottage in a gated community. (But now we are planning to be away much of the time in our future).

Gracious Guets

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We only wish we could have been there to meet you in person and have some evening chats, but as summer is a great time to travel ourselves; maybe next time. Our daughter had only positive comments and hope you will visit us again. Excellent guests.

These folks are so friendly with many great stories and a self-built cool RV! I would enjoy having them as nextdoor neighbors forever!
Hope to see them again!

Great couple

I really wanted to meet these two world travelers, but, as usual, time and other obligations intervened. I can only hope for another time. Hosting really is the best part of Boondockers. Never know who you're going to meet. Safe travels!

New Bern host

One of the most giving and accommodating couple that made you feel part of the family. To include Marvin, the neighborhood security cat.
You'll learn something new from their rv and boating experience. Highly recommend them as host.
