Wildside Winery is a big supporter of boondocking and wants to support the free camping community. We are a small winery in the beautiful horse country near Lexington Kentucky. We are near I-64 E/W and I-75 N/S just west of Lexingon. Our address is 5500 Troy Pike (recent street changes may require that you search for 5500 Eire Lane) Versailles, KY 40383. We have several selections of camping areas. We also have an outside porta-potty in the summer available. Please no dumping without permission. We have free water available but generally no electricity without specific permission. Please contact us before camping since we sometimes host weddings that require all parking spots for the guests (almost always will be a Saturday evening).
We also have over 20 styles of wine and lots of beer selections on tap and by the bottle including microbrews and our own home grown sparkling hard cider on tap and by the growler.
We are purchasing our first camper this summer but have done extensive camping in popups and tents - but those days are over, thank goodness.
Versailles, Kentucky has some nice restaurants and is near some great bourbon distilleries that offer tours and tastings too.
We are seriously ready to order an Alto tear-drop trailer. However, we admire the big RV's and welcome all sizes. We have a pull through area so its easy to get in and out. Full disclosure - its not real level. We have a level spot but that requires a bit more tricky backing up.
Nice winery , Not a level spot to park so make sure you have lots of blocking ! Takes days for a response !
Made arrangements to stay here after travelling all day towards a festival not far from here. Arrived after midnight to my level spot and really enjoyed how quiet it was. I even had the smell of grapes in the air. From the dark it looked like a really nice property and since I had to leave early the next morning, didn't have time to do anything but sleep. I definitely want to go back when I have more time to spend.
Got here late but no problem with directions. Great wifi! Just wish we could have spent more time!. Hope to return.
We stayed at Wildside in April and made arrangements to stay again in June but cancelled them (we did stop to buy more wine though!). Each time we got a rapid response to our inquiries and we were made to feel at home amongst the beautiful rolling hills of Kentucky. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and they have terrific wine. Peach mead was our favorite!
We enjoyed a very peaceful overnight in this lovely spot. The winery and hosts were very welcoming and it was fun to relax after a day's drive, sampling the winery's reds and whites in the attractive tasting room. Very pretty outdoor deck and grounds with a firefly show after dusk. We definitely recommend these hosts. Be sure to visit the charming town of Versailles while in the area.
