My partner Dora and I were previously doing our road trips with our old 2000 Toyota Corolla towing a basic Teardrop trailer("the tent on wheels" as Dora called it). In the last sixteen months, we put on nearly 28,000 miles; about 17,500 of it and 130 days was with the Teardrop. The remaining 81 days was by car and staying mostly in motels and with some friends and relatives. We decided our mode of road tripping and travel would change. We bought a 2014 Toyota Tundra 4x4 CrewCab on March 5, 2015 and a new 2015 Lance 1685 Travel Trailer March 19. We are purchasing an additional Interstate SRM 27 and hooking it in parallel. We bought two Yamaha EF2000is generators as well that we'll hook together. Much work to do before our next road trip of 5 1/2 weeks begins March 29 through Utah, Nevada, NorCal and other places TBD. Another 90 day road trip will start Labor Day. Then, a 60 day back to the midSouth and Florida to see my grandson in Jan/March 2016. And our first trip to Alaska May '16. We love National and State Parks/Forests, blues music, museums and more. We would love to host but live in a townhome with three tenant roommates and strict on street public parking. We are part owners of a small lot with an ancient travel trailer on it in a co-op in the Colorado mountains but aren't there much except during the summer and doubt the co-op would allow one to be a Boondockers Welcome host.
