One if the BEST places we have stayed.. Had a wonderful stay. S. gave us plenty of information about the local sites in the area. Only about an hour away from NYC. Told us about the Stanton Island Ferry. She took us through Preston and we had some delicious pizza and ice cream. Would stay again if ever in the area.
This was a great stop. She has a great spot to park the rig (38-foot 5th wheel fit fine). She was so kind to our children and even showed them how to feed her horses, which they loved doing. Stephanie gave us a packet of local info which was helpful. We had access to water and a 30AMP plug-in. While we didn't need the A/C much, it was great to not have to deal with the generator for coffee and such. She is also an RVer which I think helps make an extra great host. We were able to easily drive up to Staten Island to take the ferry into NYC. We also took a day and went to the beach at Asbury Park. We would stay again :)
What a delightful setting! This hostess is so wonderfully welcoming, we felt at home, at once. Beautiful, well cared for horses are right outside your rig.
We spent two quiet peaceful nights here and truly cannot wait to return.
This was a convenient location, close to a lot of great parks, lakes and city. We also took the Staten Island Ferry and walked to the 9/11 memorial & WTC.
The BW host was very helpful and eager to make our stay a good one. Our boys fed the beautiful horses. The driveway evergreens might be a little tight for 5th wheels but we got our Airstream in with no problem. Pull straight in to the back and then back into the site on the right.
We stayed with sva312 for 3 nights and had the pleasure of being her 2nd guests. We came in with a 40' 5th wheel and proved it can be done. A 40'er will fit, but we did have branches rub the sides of the rig. Since ours has been well loved it doesn't matter but do know that taller or longer rigs may have some conifer branches to contend with.
We took one day and went into NYC via the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry was free and since we went on a Sunday the open lot parking was free and wide open in the morning. Easy walk from the Whitehall ferry dock to the Statue of Liberty boats and the 911 memorial. Glad we did it this way.
We enjoyed having the new 30A power cord and also utilized the water to fill our tanks. Nice conversations with the host, a park down the road for the kids to play, and a safe spot to stay in NJ within driving distance to NYC!
Thanks sva312 for a nice stay - we'll see you down the road!
