Started remote camping in the 70's with a 2 man Eureka and a 16' tripper canoe. Over the years evolved to larger tents and canoes and eventually to our Roadtrek Zion. We have always enjoy getting away from the beaten path and dry camping. We now live in Bayfield, ON and own an adjacent 1 acre treed lot that is open to boondockers. Our lot is within walking distance of beaches, restaurants and bars. It is a quiet and private retreat.

We didn’t get to meet Pine Croft but they were very polite in our messaging, and we would not have known that they were there. Very self sufficient. Welcome back
Great couple to host! Their camper can fit about anywhere. We enjoyed spending the evening with them around the campfire... Welcome back anytime!
G & M were the easiest guests ever, no problem at all and great conversation too. They are welcome to return anytime. Just sorry the had to sleep thru our horrible spring storm. Over 2 1/2 “ of rain in 3 hours. They almost need a boat to get out. Safe travels!!
Although we didn't get a chance to interact with them beyond their arrival, they were very courteous and quiet guests. We wouldn't hesitate to host them in the future.
Though stay was short Pine Croft were friendly and pleasant guests. They are welcome to come back any time.
Pine Croft arrived mid-afternoon and I showed them where to park...after which I spoke with them briefly... gave them a few suggestions and they went island exploring! They must have liked what they saw and requested another nights stay to see more! They're a friendly couple and I enjoyed our short talk.....they left as quietly as they arrived.....i'd surely love to have them return.
Wish we could have met, they were quietly in and out , we where out for the evening when they arrived and gone in the morning early. Maybe next stay
We didn't have much chance to interact with Pine Croft as they pulled in late and left early the next morning, but we did have a chance to chat with them for a few minutes. They were friendly and courteous and I am positive we would have enjoyed getting acquainted if time had allowed. They are welcome back any time!
Pine Croft stayed with us just over night coming in late but we did have time for an enjoyable short visit that evening and they got to enjoy the river before leaving the next morning. They were a pleasure to host and are welcome to come back for another visit.

They communicated promptly and were very easy guests. I did not even get to meet them, all they wanted was a quick overnight spot. They took advantage of the scenic neighborhood and parks.
It's been a treat meeting such nice people whether I am boondocking or hosting boondockers like Pine Croft. Very nice couple and glad to be able to provide a spot for them to overnight. They are always welcome here and can wander in whenever they need a place to park. Not much to offer now except a flat piece of dirt to park on but hopefully they will be back by when I have some hookups. I definitely like their approach to traveling, taking things as they come and just enjoying themselves. Safe travels!
We loved having Pine Croft as guests this weekend and welcome them back anytime - whether we're home or not. They hiked the trails and supported Elora restaurants. We hope to take them up on their invitation for the same in Bayfield next summer. We visited for a bit before they left and discovered that, while they were parked here, we were at a gathering where members of their family were also guests! What a small world it is!
Great quiet location near Grand Bend! Great hosts. Would use again!
This is a peaceful and quiet spot surrounding you with all of the beauty that nature has to offer. The hosts are couteous, respectful and very kind. It is a privilege to spend time here.
We love all that the village of Bayfield has to offer. Unique shops and eateries, lovely walking trails and friendly citizens.
We enjoyed our stay! Although it was only for a night as we were passing through it was just what we needed! very quiet and peaceful, all while a quick walk to downtown for some dinner. Would highly recommend!
We’ve stayed with them few times already and it gets better every time . The location and the host are wonderful, beautiful gateway for us .
Recommend 100%
What a wonderful secluded getaway right in the heart of beautiful Bayfield. Enjoyed a great
visit on their deck. Shared many travelling stories. Cannot believe how much we had in common. Thanks again. If you are in Huntsville please look us up. Ken & Holly
Serendipity. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting the McBrides at Inverhuron Provincial Park while camping several weeks ago. We got talking about Boondocking with them and how they were hosts with a beautiful wooded lot secluded yet close to town (walking distance) and the lake. It did not disappoint. This was our first Boondocking experience, having only recently purchased a Pleasure-Way Plateau, and were blown away with the spacious site and ideal location. The site was large and quiet within a wooded lot. The McBrides checked in on us to be sure everything was okay. The town of Bayfield is a real Gem. We spent the day in town. Parked our RV at the Central Park and strolled the quaint historic Main Street, with it’s many shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at the park. As well we took in the sites at the Marina. The Bayfield Retreat was a delight and the McBrides are gracious hosts.
The hosts assisted us in setting up on the beautiful site that they provide for guests. Private, nature and beautiful trees in abundance. This stay is a gift to be respected and deeply appreciated. We couldn'tt have asked for a better first boondocker experience.
The McBrides’ spot is great since it is located on an undeveloped lot adjacent to the one their home is built on. It is thus very quiet, even though it is located in a residential neighborhood. There are so many trees, you can’t see the street! The neighborhood itself is supber and within walking distance to everything that Bayfield has to offer (sunset on the beach, shops on Main street, Pioneer Park, etc...). A must!
Great stay , very nice couple makes you feel comfortable always with a smile .
Great place to stay, nice and level, nested in a wooden lot. It is very quiet and a short distance to a park to see the great sunsets and a few block away from downtown. Our host made us feel right at home and we had a nice chat. Unfortunately we had to leave earlier than anticipated so we had to pass on a morning coffee offer. Next time for sure. Thanks for a great night.
We spent 2 lovely days at the McBrides property. Our hosts made us feel welcome. They are knowledgeable about the area and gave us many tips on where to go and what to see. They are very experienced as Boondockers Welcome guests so knew the answers to all our questions. Their little spot next to their house was very private and easy to navigate. We hope to visit them again someday soon.
Lovely hosts. Unfortunately our rig was to large for the described spot. Host where very helpful in finding a alternative spot. And host helped a newbie 5 wheel driver on his first Boondocking experience 😁
Loved the evening chat and bike ride to see great sunset. Highly recommend this site.
The Mcbrides are welcome at our place anytime
All the best and hope you enjoy your summer
The Mcbrides greet us from 6ft distance and welcome us to their boondocking spot. Awesome place close to beautiful Huron lake. Quiet, private and awesome
Thank you!
Not intrusive, but Invited us to tea. We had a great chat. The parking spot was still somewhat soft and wet, but they warned us about that ahead of time. We were careful and all was ok.
We throughly enjoyed boondocking at Pine Croft's little lot in Bayfield. We highly recommend it!
We were pleased to have an opportunity to meet them and share each other's Roadtrek adventures - as well as some nice cupcakes and tea:) MnG, we look forward to coming again. Please visit us in London sometime.
OK, so we didn't stay here but we would have!!
I contacted Pine Croft to reserve a spot...it was very last minute, but everyone recommended Bayfield so I had to give it a try.
As it turned out, they were travelling themselves, but they made the effort, checked out our portfolio, and said we could stay on their spot regardless...thanks for the trust Pine Croft!
Unfortunately the skies opened up and they had mentioned that the spot might be a little soggy. I had visions of digging up their property and declined their kind invitation. I will FOR SURE be back to try again.

I want to thank "Pine Croft" for their gracious hospitality this past week. Their parking area is ideal for a Class B motorhome or smaller trailer. This location is near the downtown Bayfield area with it's many shops, restaurants and boutiques. It is also within walking distance of the shore of Lake Huron.
Since I have family moving to one of the retirement communities in this area I will definitely be returning.
Thanks for the coffee and chat time. Great meeting both of you.
Wonderful hosts with a wonderful location to spend the night while visiting the area. Would absolutely love to stay with The_McBrides again when visiting the area!
Thank you!
The McBride's are wonderful hosts with a lovely private site to set up on. They went out of their way to see that we were comfortable and had all we needed.
We will definitely be contacting them the next time we are looking to stay in the Bayfield area.
