We are Rudi & Cherryl a German/English couple with Australien citizenship living on a small island near Brisbane, Queensland. We are well travelled and our first motorhome was an old converted Mercedes bus in 1981 which took us from Frankfurt, Germany across the whole African continent to South Africa in 13 months.
We settled in Cape town for 8 years before moving to Australia. We have explored our chosen country for a number of years in a caravan until 3 years ago when we purchased a motorhome in England and visited 16 countries in Europe over 16 months. After our return to Australia we purchased a Safari Trek motorhome in Florida and spent 2 months during May and June 2014 on the road, getting used to our new home and the country. We are now embarking on an 8 month journey exploring the east coast of the United States and Canada starting late February 2015 until October. We look forward to exploring all that America and Canada have to offer and meeting a lot of like-minded people on the road.
Rudi is a retired automotive service manager and Cherryl is the retired director information management for the Queensland Health department. We have visited more than 60 countries, have done 13 home exchanges and both speak German and English and a bit of French (Cherryl)
Our home is one of the South Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI) near Brisbane, the capital of Queensland and Australia's 3rd largest city. We are close enough to the big city but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet the island life provides.
The motorhome is a 2004 Safari Trek, 30 feet long and we just love it. The best feature of the vehicle is the bed which disappears into the ceiling during the day giving us plenty of room to move around.
