Mid-lifers pursuing the Skoolie life

Do you know or have you hosted this user?

We are a mid-life couple who love the outdoors and have a dream to explore the country in our own bus turned RV. We have two awesome kids who are barely kids anymore. As we are sending them of on their life adventures, we are planning and working towards some of our own. We like to garden, cook, run and make music.

Skills & Expertise to Share

We are musicians by training, and have many skills from life experience that include gardening/landscaping, light construction, and cooking. We have a huge willingness to help in any way we can and we take instruction well.

BlueBoxerBusLife's Pets

We currently have a cat and a guinea pig. We don't currently travel with them.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

We have not had any boondocking experience yet, so we don't have any favorites to list at this time.

BlueBoxerBusLife's Hometown

Our hometown is close to the Indiana Dunes of Lake Michigan. We are within an hour of Chicago and some points into Michigan. We are surrounded by parks, vineyards, farms and quaint towns.

Bus builders

Enjoyed staying a night in their front yard. We toured each others vehicles and talked about build outs. Hope to see them at our host location.

Convenient spot on route

We were welcomed by the host and he showed us his project; a blue skoolie bus he was working on.
That must be great, your own customized motorhome!
We had a nice spot in the front yard with shade of the trees.
It was on a road, but we had no trouble of the noise.
Nice and friendly couple!

Hidden Backyard Gem

This spot was a great little secluded gem, unexpectedly behind a home on a main street. This vast space was perfect for us, boondocking by walnut trees in a big open field. We loved it here, the host was friendly and communicative, offering us not only water but also vegetables from her garden, and the cell service was great. We highly recommend Adam’s Acres and look forward to coming back here again!

Wonderful Stay

While they have a few spots to choose to stay we chose the private hilltop location. Spacious and secluded, our stay was wonderful. Gracious hosts with an interesting bus/RV conversation. Highly recommend a stay here!

Neat town

Enjoyed the stay in the back for the 1st night. Moved to the front yard for 2 nights, traffic pretty slow over night. Host were nice. Enjoyed the area and dipping my feet in Lake Michigan. Self levels will be easier for parking, it has a little slope. We would stay again.

Perfect spot to explor

This is a perfect location to visit the dunes! So convenient, only minutes away from all the beautiful beaches and National Park hiking! The hosts were so kind and I had multiple conversations with them about the area. The spot was nice and level and just down the road from a town park/ farm that is definitely a hidden gem. This really is a fantastic location with wonderful hosts.

good BW experience.

Good place to stay. Great host. We elected to stay in the front yard instead of the "back 40" due to the large amount. of rain they had the two days before our arrival. The traffic noise on the road in front of their house was not a problem
Would definitely stay there gain. Rick even helped me with a mechanical issue I had with our motorhome.

Great stay close to Indiana Dunes

Adam's Acres has the option of staying in front for electric or in their big back yard if you just want to boondock. I chose the front and it was great. There is some noise from the traffic but my AC pretty much cancelled it the noise. The hosts were very nice and took me on a tour of their bus conversion in process. I would recommend their place to anyone on their way to Indiana Dunes.

Hidden Gem

Lovely couple with an adorable nook in their backyard. Very relaxing and quiet. Didn't feel like we were in someone's backyard. Would definitely recommend.

Great Stop

We had a wonderful short stop over at Adams Acre. Our hosts were welcoming and kind and we really enjoyed learning about their bus conversion. The kiddos loved having space to run and checking out the garden. Thanks again!

Great property, very quiet

We had the pleasure to stay 3 nights. The first night we were in the back of the house with no hookups, tucked between the trees and shrubs. There was silence! The next two nights we were hooked up to the power in front of the house. The road did not bother us.
The hosts are a very nice couple with ambitions to enter RV life. Thanks for the tour!
We enjoyed our stay.

Adams Acre

Enjoyed a few nights here! The hosts were extremely friendly, even keeping me posted on some bad weather conditions. Really loved getting to see the bus and talk about some of the plans for it! Cute little town and close to the Dunes National Park or a couple of state parks to swim and hang out.

Great Stay

It was a beautiful day to stay here. The hosts were fantastic, and showed me the school bus they’re converting into an RV! So look for it, or you might pass them like I did! Would definitely stay again!

Super quiet - super peaceful

What a wonderful spot this was to rest and relax for the week. We slept like babies.

Saw a deer and a family of baby turkeys.

The hosts were super kind and inviting and we were pleased to have met them.

Best wishes on the bus!

Warm and Inviting

We had a great stay here. Our hosts were just lovely and so accommodating. We enjoyed the tour of their bus conversion.
We chose to park our camper near their home because we needed 15amp electric. They also offered us a spot in their “back forty” which looked inviting.
Thank you again for a great place to put our camper!

Sweet spot

The hosts at Adams Acre were so nice. They have a great place that is quiet and secluded. They are renovating a 3/4 bus and it was fabulous to see the process and the ingenuity they are using to renovate this bus. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent people as a host an excellent location

Excellent people as a host an excellent location! They have a great project going on with a yellow school bus and doing it all themselves! Looks like they’re a couple years from retiring but they’re doing all the right things. You get a choice of water and electric or a lot of privacy out in the back South 40 I chose the south 40 very peaceful very serene and very quiet great when you have a dog and they are wonderful.
A shout out to this couple!!!
U2 ROCK in my book! When I said goodbye they said don’t be a stranger!
