We live in Kilgore (northeast Texas). We travel, part time, in our M/H. Have traveled most of the US and much of Canada - much of that before we bought our Class A - and some later. We love art galleries, backroads driving, hiking, scenic drives and just about everything in the western US and Canada. Kathe is a potter and a painter who specializes in Pastels and Watercolor. Dean enjoys the outdoors and hiking. We both enjoy traveling.
Love to cook, and Kathe's previously mentioned artistic talents. Dean likes to "piddle'' in woodworking, and loves to travel along with the hiking locals we've visited.
Haven't done much boondocking, but what we have done we have enjoyed. Our preference is to stay in state and national (BLM, Corps of Engineers, etc.) parks when that's feasible.
Kilgore Texas is a town of about 12,000 located in the heart of the East Texas oil fields. These fields provided 80% of the petroleum to the WWII war effort. There is a GREAT museum here detailing the oil field and its history. Our renovated downtown area offers a pleasant place to relax and browse. We are in the East Texas Piney (pine trees) Woods area of Texas, and the oil industry is still active here. The nice city of Tyler, TX (population about 85,000) 25 miles east of us. 50 miles to the northeast is Jefferson, TX and the nearby Caddo Lake - both of which are worth the time to explore.
2014 Newmar 36' Class A motorhome with 4 slides which we park on a gravel pad in our yard.
