We took a year off in 2015/2016 and did a loop around the US. Here's our blog from the trip: http://intothetransporter.blogspot.com
Before that some winter rv camping in Michigan, a test trip out to S.Dakota/Wyoming. We like to stay on the back roads instead of interstates, more to see and take our time. Now we're back home for a bit and doing some trips during the summers. Soon, kids will be away and we might travel more.
Automotive engineer, I enjoy debugging and fixing most anything, or at least I don't give up quick. Try to stump me with your RV issues! Happy to help with RV or other projects you may have, don't be afraid to ask. Can I weld anything for you?
Please let me know if I can help with anything mechanical, electrical or computer related while we visit. Hard labor is fine too if you need, there are four of us and work goes fast.
Currently one cat, who may or may not be with us in the camper. And a smaller border collie / black lab mix dog named Blue.

'99 26 foot Dutchmen trailer, no slides. Pretty simple and low budget, but still clean and not too shabby yet. Added solar and inverter. '12 GMC Sierra 4WD 1/2 ton. Nice to not be fixing anything on the truck, and 4wd-Low is great on the forest roads with camper. The camper is another story, always something on the list to fix... I enjoy getting it into and out of tight spots on forest roads.
While it was just a short overnight stay, it was an easy setup with great communication. We were very glad you stayed with us and would be happy to host again if you are ever in the area!
The Daklein were my first guests and I couldn’t ask for a nicer family! Very pleasant . They stayed two nights, and I hardly knew they were here. They even offered help with any projects around the house. Would highly recommend them . They are welcome back any time.
They arrived in the afternoon. I was all set for them to plug into 115 V power to get their Air conditioner going. It was getting warmer by the hour. Very pleasant visit with the whole family. They are welcome to stop in again anytime.
We barely knew our guests were even here. We never heard them come or go. Very friendly and engaging family. It was just a one night stay, but they would have been welcome for more nights. We didn't really have a chance to chat for long as they had to be in a nearby town.
Very nice family, we didn't get to visit long as they had a busy day and were tired. Dale offered to help Gary with his 5th wheel projects and that was very kind of him. We would welcome them back.
A very nice family and we are happy to recommend them to any host. They are welcome back anytime! <emoji>
It was so great that they've stopped over; their visit was too short. We were sorry to see them leave. I guess its always like this when we meet good people. But then, we known for sure, other boondockers host will enjoy their visit, so, they must keep to their travellings
The dakleins are an Awesome family, very personable, very well mannered, we enjoyed talking about their travels, and the journey they have been on, we enjoyed a great dinner they made and will enjoy the flowers. We are looking forward to visiting them in the future.
We had the pleasure of having this family at our home for 2 nights. We visited both evenings together and enjoyed their company. Our children got along great and was a pleasure to be with. They would be welcome at our home anytime.
Really enjoyed meeting the daklein family! They spent several days with us and we were sorry to see them go. Their kids are delightful - intelligent, mature and very well behaved! We spent several evenings visiting and having great conversations - it was fun to get to know all of them. We had some ongoing projects we were working on and they all pitched in to help - and did a great job!! By the time they left it felt like we were saying goodbye to family - we would love to have them back anytime!
I hardly knew they were on the property. Their teen-aged children are atypical - mannerable, friendly, speak in complete sentences, quiet and intelligent. Never saw the cats.
We enjoyed having this wonderful family stay with us as boondockers, and would welcome them back anytime. They were respectful, helpful and interesting and fun to talk to. We were in no hurry to see them leave, and at times hardly even noticed they were here.
Pleasant experience having them stop by. They are welcome here anytime.
We immediately felt comfortable with our guests, Daklein.
It was such fun having diner with them and sharing stories. We look forward to following their adventure.
Very helpful and respectful. Hope to see them again!
We hosted this family of four for two nights over a weekend along with another family. They were a pleasure to meet and host! Their kids are very polite and well behaved. Definitely recommended. We wish you the best.
Dale and Annie, along with their 2 great kids (and 2 kitties) stayed two nights with us this week! We were thrilled to have them, just wish we'd had more time to visit! Come on back anytime!
Perfect overnight stay. Close to the highway but rural feel and quiet. Very welcoming hosts. May be back on our return trip next week. We can then enjoy the lake walks on the property and shy Daisy will play Blue.
Dale and Annie were as sweet as can be! Our pups loved playing together and it was a beautiful place to take a walk by the lake or a canoe ride! They were so helpful with their knowledge and experience of RV life. I hope to be coming back around the area on my way home so we can visit again!
Dale and Annie were the most gracious hosts. Dale can fix anything and loves to do it. They were very generous with their electricity and their time. Felt like I've known Dale in a previous life! Love staying there would love to come back whenever I come through the area Again. Their Property is absolutely gorgeous and right near a Lake. Thanks so much for the last minute Welcome.
Thanks so much for your lovely setting and friendly faces, including your sweet pup that Bjorn loved time with in your garden. You were so helpful during bad weather!! I thought this note was long ago posted, but maybe the “submit” button didn’t fire. I hope you have had a chance to go camping yourselves!!
Our second stay here. Very nice people. Quiet neighborhood. Helpful hosts.
The past three nights I have spent on this new adventure, and I would say this about the other two hosts I stayed with, but this family brought it to my attention. Such great role models, not only as a family but also as hosts to Katy and I. There were paths, a pond, a lake, a rowboat (yes!), peace, quiet, serene. I was given access to their electric, and water. We had conversations. I met their two teens. I met their dog. So glad I came here.
We enjoyed a great stay at Bullard Lake. Host site was easy to find and parking directions were spot on. Daklein and family were very welcoming and friendly.
We stayed a couple of nights. Our hosts were very gracious, accommodating and helpful. Daklein was eager to help with any issue. He gave us fresh water hookup and allowed us to fill up our fresh tank. Thanks so much. We will look you up next time we are in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay. They are a very warming and friendly family.
The Host helped me with several little issues on our tow dolly and motor home. Beautiful, quiet place. A great place to stop.
Beautiful location. Host actually straighten the bent rims on my bicycle! Could not have asked for more congenial. hosts. So glad we stopped. The strawberry pie ala mode was a delicious surpurprise' sy=erry Will definitely will ask to stay there again on our way homelater this
My first experience and was treated like a welcomed guest. Instructions to find correct site parking were specific and clear. The family made every effort to make my stay comfortable. Thank you Klein family
Our visit was short but nice. The owner met us out at the driveway and helped back our rig in. His wife and daughter came out and visited. They were kind and gracious. Because we are fully contained we didn’t need any hook ups but some were available. The spot is nice and quiet.
Thanks so much hosting us. Nice long lane and drive was great for walking the dog. It was fun talking solar and seeing a different setup. Kids loved seeing the cranes.
What wonderful hosts. Offered us use of their canoe, a shower if we needed it,... We had a nice visit with them. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
It was a pleasure to stop here and they were so hospitable and kind.
Please let us know if you plan to visit England as you have a place to stay with us! :-)
Enjoyed our evening, - they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, could not be friendlier.
Wished it was not raining in the morning so we could have taken a walk around the pond in their backyard.
We very much enjoyed meeting these friendly folks who welcomed us to their beautiful neck of the woods. Their home is at the end of a pretty country lane and the driveway overlooks a pond and a lake. The hosts took us over to see their family chickens and shared what it is like to care for them, and gave us a dozen fresh eggs of different sizes and colors--almost too pretty to eat! Although we were encouraged to take out one of their rowboats or canoes, or stroll the grounds, it was too wet of a weekend for that. However, we did enjoy walking the paved lane and quiet country roads in the evening. I would highly recommend these members as hosts, as they are the kind of people worth meeting.
