We are retired, earlier than expected, with lots of room to spare. We have ideas about traveling some but will be home doing projects too. We are between Minneapolis and Hinckley with plenty of places to explore close by. We are a short walk to a lake and lots of area to bike.
Jamie is a mechanic by trade as well as a former (30yr) truck owner/operator with lots of knowledge about vehicles. Darla has a medical background and loves all kinds of projects. Always puttering with something. We both love entertaining and have a large fire pit we enjoy using as much as possible.
We have two dogs. A larger breed that is a lover but sounds tough and a smaller one who just thinks he's tough! We have a cat that rules the house and roams the yard.
So far we have not had the pleasure of traveling farther than a few places here in MN. Our favorite so far is a small lake in Cohasset, MN.
Jamie is from Spring Lake Park, MN and Darla is from St Louis Park, MN. We have lived in our current home in Stanchfield for 21 years. We raised our two boys (and their assorted friends) here and enjoy their frequent visits. We have 5 acres that we love and will probably never fully leave.

Two of the loveliest hosts you’ll ever meet. Very warm and accommodating and such lovely hearts. The location is beautiful with all the amenities you could need, within 10 miles. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts, we’ll see you again soon. Cheers!
The hosts were great about communicating with us and making us feel welcome. Their parking spot was easy to access and quiet. We would definitely stop here again when we are in this area.
A generous and caring couple who offer up a tranquil spot, even on short notice. We were driving through on our way to St. Paul and contacted Jamdar51 when we were only about 2 hours away. Jamdar invited us right over and even offered up their metal building as a shelter when a nasty looking storm was rolling in. Thankfully the storm skipped over us and we had a lovely restful night. Such kind hosts... hope to see them again, and with time to hang around the campfire next time :-)
Our hosts where very friendly. Their dog Mac was very welcoming. We had a couple of campfires and dinner with them. Talked about our adventures and hobbies. Would recommend a stay if you are in the area.
We arrived mid-afternoon and Jam met us in the driveway and directed us where to park. These Hosts are/were amazing, immediately made us feel right at home and lots of property for our 2 Papillons to run around off leash. They have 2 dogs of their own and they all got along very well.
J took me on a ride around the neighborhood with his side by side 4 wheeler and showed me how to get to the lake just a mile away where I went fishing the second day we were there, caught dinner!!!
We stayed 3 nights. The first night we just sat on their patio and talked, what a delightful couple!! Dar invited us to have dinner with them the second night, then realized they had a lot of leftovers from one of their previous dinners so she invited to eat with them again on the 3rd night.
I highly recommend staying here for a night or 2 during your travels around Northern Minnesota. J used to be a trucker as I was so we had many conversations about that, My companion and Dar are both knitting enthusiasts so they had plenty to talk about.
These hosts treated us like treasured family members who were coming for only a short visit! Very friendly, welcoming, and over-the-top helpful.
Simply doesn't get any better than this!
We would stay again gladly and at any opportunity.
We felt so welcome here! It was more than just being guests, we felt like part of the family.
They have a ton of space to put your rig and level it with no problem. Plus, if you have Verizon cell service, the signal is amazingly strong!
Also, if you're in the area long enough, don't miss eating at the Grumpy Minnow restaurant.
We would definitely stay here again!
Nice quiet spot in the country while on our way to Minneapolis. Our hostess was super accommodating and has a beautiful property. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a great time! Amazing hosts and a great spot to stay in. The spot is off to the side of the property so you don't feel in the way and if you need to run your genni, you are far away and don't feel it is too loud. You are 15 mins from town if you need to stop for anything. We would definitely stay again!
We had a peaceful and delightful stay at What a Rush. The host is very friendly and welcomed us with a bowl of freshly picked wild black raspberries and an offer of morning coffee on the porch. We enjoyed nice conversation with a view of a pretty flower garden and hummingbirds visiting the feeder. I highly recommend this host!
We stopped in for a quiet evening after a long day of travel, which ultimately made us late with the storms. We didn’t get to chat much since we were ready for dinner and had to do some route planning for the next day. Both the hosts were very friendly and helped direct us to our parking spot. They also have some bird feeders where you can catch a glimpse of some gorgeous hummingbirds. We even had deer casually cross by the front yard.
Jamdar51 made us feel like family from the moment we pulled up! Really enjoyed visiting with them! Very recuperative stay! Wish them all the best and would return again when in the area!
Great visit! Super friendly couple and provided great communication giving us directions on finding their place. Their property is beautiful with plenty of space for a large rig to park comfortably. Loved visiting with them, sharing stories, and hope to reconnect with them in the future!
Five Star Minnesota Friendly!!!
