We are a retired couple who after full-timing for 7 years have settled here in north Alabama. We continued to RV after moving here for a couple of years but due to health reasons had to hang up the keys. But we love having visitors stay on our 2 RV sites.
The wife is originally from southern New Jersey, Hubby is from Lake Charles area of Louisiana. We have 5 children between us. Wife's girls and families live in MD and PA. Hubby's son and family live nearby and one daughter in Louisiana and one near Houston. So most of our traveling is visiting with the families.
Having RVed from Rio Grande Valley of Texas to Alaska and Rhode Island to Yuma, AZ we have lots of traveling stories to share.
During our RVing days we were members of NOMADS, a mission of the United Methodist Church. We would volunteer for two or three 3-week projects a year at camps, churches, retreat centers and community outreach. This included building, repairs, landscaping and whatever else the agency needed us to do.
We have a sweet Beagle named Biscuit. He showed up on our porch on Easter 2019. We attempted to find his owner but to no avail. We fell in love. He is truly our Easter gift. He has the run of the property and will greet all guests. Never fear Biscuit, he is our welcome committee.
We also have 4 ducks (at this time). Unfortunately we've had more ducklings but the resident hawks like them too. The ducks can be seen from your RV as they swim in the pond or might even greet you wanting a handout.
The pond has catfish and blue gill. We have fish food available should you want to see them feed.
Your pets are welcome here.
We live 10 miles outside of Cullman, AL. Cullman has any thing you would need. Two Walmart's and a Publix. Lots of restaurants like Applebees, Cracker Barrel, Dennys, Logans Steakhouse, 2 McDonalds, 2 Burger Kings, 2 Zaxbys, Popeyes, 2 KFC., Golden Corral, Jim n Nicks BBQ. A couple of Mexican Restaurants. Locally owned establishments. We are but a few miles from Clarkson Covered Bridge and the Ave Maria Grotto. The warehouse district of Cullman is an area of small boutique shops, restaurants, etc. There are several auto dealerships and RV repair facilities in Cullman or nearby Our RV sites sit on our 4 acres out in the country. We are less than 8 miles from I-65 X308. We are surrounded by woods and fields. We have one site that is 50 amp Full Hook Up. The other is electric and water. Should you require a 30 amp hookup, we will provide an adapter for your use while here.
We had a wonderful stay at The East Estate. Beautiful setting with full hookups. But best of all - hosts that are absolute treasures!
The location is amazing - close to town but in the countryside. Ducks and a pup too! Even the neighbors were super nice - I got invited to use the neighbors pond for fishing.
However what really makes this place truly wonderful are the hosts! So welcoming and kind. We were lucky enough to share visits and even a couple of meals. I felt as though I was visiting family. I really hope I get the chance to return one day!
What an AWESOME Boondockers site!! Accommodations could not have beenbetter!!
The hosts greeted us at the street and
gave us a very warm welcome.
It was like a piece of heaven. Very peaceful and quiet. We hope to return.
Great place!! Peaceful and quiet. Loved the ducks and the hosts were very flexible and accommodating. Would definitely stay again
We only stayed one night, enjoyed sitting on the porch over looking pond with the ducks. Will be back
This is our second time staying here. They are great loving people. Our kids were so happy to get to come back. We enjoyed all of the time cooking and hanging out with them.
Wonderful hosts! Very accommodating and nice people. Got to meet another friendly boondocker during our stay. We had a great time!
As first time Boondockers Welcome, guests Phyllen have set the bar very high for future host sites! Beautiful property with more amenities than could be expected. Gracious hosts who met us in the rain to help get settled into the site. 50A hook ups with water and sewer were very much appreciated. Biscuit was even nice enough to greet our fur baby Molly and show her around the property. Unfortunately, due to our schedule, we didn’t get to visit and chat as much as we would’ve liked, but I think we can take care of that during future visits.
What a wonderful first time BW experience! Wonderful couple, granddaughters, dog, and property! No question about whether or not we’d stay again… thankfully they are on our frequently traveled route.
Our 2nd stay with Phyllen - just a beautiful peaceful spot with the nicest folks. Having elec, water and sewer is a bonus. An ideal spot only 15 min. to all the stores you may ever need. Out in the country - with the ducks, frogs, birds, and fish (in the pond just outside your front door) - a great spot to wind down after driving. Thanks Phyllen - you two are the best!
Our evening with Phyllis and Len was a delight! We visited the monastery in Hanceville so we were coming in from a different direction and she careful guided us to avoid impassable roads. Be SURE to lfollow their direction from I-65! Beautiful gentleman's farm with great little pond with fish and ducks. We loved hearing their story and travel wisdom. We'd love to come by another time. Be sure to visit St. Bernard's and the Ava Maria Grotto. It's fascinating for people of all faiths. Thanks Phyllis and Len! God Bless!
This pretty property is nestled in the Alabama countryside. They have water, sewer, and 50 amp hook ups. There are acres of green grass, fruit trees, and a pond stocked with catfish and bluegills. Our daughter was excited to catch (and release) two large catfish. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, and have ducks and a cute Beagle. At dusk the acres of green grass were alight with fireflies, and as the stars came out it was hard to tell the fireflies from the shooting stars!
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Had a little family emergency and had to cut my trip north short. Phyllen at The East Estate quickly accepted my request and had space for me during my southern travels. Was my second time there, so backing into the site was even easier. It was only an overnight stay, but as always, they are very welcoming. I even got to meet some of their family from Louisiana.
Perfect hosts and a friendly puppy to boot. And who knew there was so much to do Cullman Alabama? Check out the grotto when you visit, and Larkwood Falls is just north of town. Parking spot was level with plenty of room for two large rigs. We parked our 40’ next to a trailer the first night and a big fiver parked beside us for night 2. Thanks for hosting us,
I think this may be my new favorite place to stay. Due to unforeseen events, I had to shift my arrival twice. Hosts were very understanding. When I did arrive, they met me at the road and helped me back my 5th wheel in. Very friendly hosts and my dog got along great with theirs. Enjoyed an evening sitting on the front porch talking with them and their visiting family.
What wonderful people this lovely couple is, so happy to know such good people still exist in this crazy world. Great conversation and very nice location with full hook up. Met me at the driveway and guided me in. Very knowledgeable people who listen and share life stories. I hope to see them again.
Amazing first BW stay! The bar is now set very high for future stays. We absolutely loved staying on the beautiful property. The ducks and biscuit were the sweetest and fun to watch. We enjoyed walking the property, seeing the fish on the pond, and the birds and fruit trees. And we absolutely loved visiting with Phyllen :) they are a fun couple. And the cherry on top they invited us over to their home for homemade dessert on our final evening!
We absolutely loved making memories here and we’re blown away by the beautiful hospitality and warmth here. We felt very fortunate to find them.
They were the best. Great place to go! They were both super friendly and I will be returning again.
This was our first Boondock experience and our hosts certainly created a high standard for other hosts. Our hosts, including Biscuit, their beagle, greeted us at the driveway and helped us park. They went above and beyond, when our hose busted they loaned us theirs. They then invited us for coffee, bagels and blueberry coffee cake the next morning, which we gladly accepted. We spent half the morning visiting and hated to leave but it was time to leave ( we had only booked the one night). We will most definitely be back. I feel as if we have made some good friends!
Duke and I had an amazing stay with this kind and generous couple. I don’t think Duke wanted to leave! He loved sitting on their porch staring at the view of the pond. The property is beautiful, I only hope we can find something like that when we are done traveling. A MUST stay if in the area. There dog Biscuit is a treat, no pun intended. Haha Hope the gentleman is feeling better! Thanks again!
The East Estate is a nice slice of earthly paradise! Our hosts were so kind and generous and we enjoyed a very nice visit with them. We appreciated the experience and wisdom they shared with their years on the road. We look forward to a future visit!
If you haven't stayed at the East Estate yet, you are missing out! Our hosts, including Biscuit, made us feel right at home, sharing great stories of their travel days and family. They have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable. They have 50amp electric, water and even a dump right there at the site. Trash can as well. The property is beautiful and peaceful. A wonderful respite in the country, while not being far off 65. We will certainly be back when we are in the area.
Great site and wonderful hosts, like always our boondockers hosts far exceed our expectations. Loved the area with the pond and ducks, also their precious beagle "Biscuit". Will definitely have to come back for a longer visit.
What a delightful couple! Met us at the entrance to their property and provided helpful hints on how best to park in the designated area. Electric and water hook-ups were WONDERFUL! Sat with them on their front porch and shared camping and family stories. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them!
Perfect stop for us on our way back home. Really nice hosts. Couldn't of asked for more. Make sure you listen to their directions off freeway. I listened to google and it took me the long way.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay we were not disappointed. This property is country living at it's finest and the the hosts are phenomenal people. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Two of the nicest people we've ever met, living in gorgeous country, graciously opening their gates to travelers for the evening. We hope to see them again someday. ❤
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The East Estate. The hosts are truly wonderful people. We really enjoyed our time visiting with them on their porch looking out over their beautiful pond. We got a big kick out of feeding the fish and watching the ducks. We can’t wait until our next trip through the area so that we can stop and visit again!
We had a lovely stay! Our hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly, and the property is beautiful. We definitely recommend stay at the East Estate when traveling through this area!
A very nice, wonderful couple. Very quiet and peaceful area. They have a sweet beagle. A pond with ducks that you may feed.
What a quiet peaceful place to stay. The hosts were terrific. Nice pond with wandering ducks and a super friendly beagle dog. Had a nice conversation with the other boondocker and the host, then invited to sit on the host's porch and continued a pleasant visit with both hosts. Simply fabulous!
My first experience with Boondockers Welcome, turned out to be so positive. These wonderful hosts set a high bar for the organization. The property itself is peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The hosts are gracious and helpful. You’ll enjoy their company as well as your stay here!
Wonderful hospitality, helpful parking, super friendly, & calm, quiet evening. Everything you need after a long, all day drive. We loved the ducks, pond, Biscuit (dog), & great hosts! Will definitely stay here again!
We had just the best stay with Phyllen! A beautiful peaceful spot and the most gracious and welcoming hosts for sure! Such a nice couple - they have a lot of great stories to share. We had a wonderful time chatting with them and we will be back through for sure. Thank you! Hugs to our friend Buscuit🐾❤️🐾
I really enjoyed my one night stay at The east Estate. The hosts were very hospitable and accommodating. Two very nice spots for RVs with hook ups. Beautiful and quiet location. Definitely recommend these hosts.
Enjoyed another visit on way North this time. Hope to stop again in the fall!
Can’t say enough about our stay with this adorable couple. From the getgo felt right at home in a beautiful country setting....so peaceful! They make sure your needs are met...
We will surely be back to visit our new friends.
Our visit was cut short by an impending tornado, but the night we spent there was very nice. It’s a great spot, very private, full hook ups and very warm hosts!
Peaceful, quiet respite, with a fishing pond, beautiful sunsets, and gracious hosts.
What a great place to rest! Our host were super accommodating.
Be sure to ask about the ducks and the wonderful pond.
We greeted by Phyllis and Leonard at the road and they helped guide us onto our site for the evening. They offered water and electricity but we decided. Due to the cold and rain, we unable to visit long. We will definitely be returning to for another visit and getting to know Phyllis and Leonard better.
Lovely and quiet stay with wonderful hosts... Thank you so very much.
Truly wonderful hosts, they made us feel very welcomed. They were very accommodating as we had to change our arrival date several times due to snow storms in the Midwest. We are looking forward to staying with them again and would recommend them as their host site is a perfect restful stop.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. And the location was perfect.
Phyllen are among the nicest people we've ever met. Their property is postcard worthy... AND they offered 50A FHU. They had me at nicest. Only challenge now is figuring out how and when we can return. Thank-you for your gracious hospitality.
Such a peaceful spot with very friendly hosts. The duck pond is beautiful. We had all the comforts of home. So happy that we got to meet such nice people. Their dog was so cute and the ducks and fish were fun to watch. Look forward to another visit next year!
Our four boys had so much fun on the property playing near the pond and with their dog. The hosts were very hospitable and a pleasure to talk with. The scenery was pleasant and the property was so quiet and peaceful. Thank you for making this stay such a memorable one for our family! Would love to visit here again sometime.
Thank you so much to our hosts.
You have a beautiful place in the country very easy to get to from the highway.
We truly appreciated the wonderful conversation we had.
Also enjoy the peace and quiet away from traffic noise.
Our best to you and Biscuit. We will stop by again when we are out your way.
Had a great night. Was not expecting the ability to dump and top off water. That was awesome. Most importantly had a great visit and met the Beagle, and the ducks and great conversation with hosts.
Phyllis and Lenny were great hosts! They were very welcoming and have a nice quiet location with lots of room. They helped us out with an extra water hose and an adapter for the electric. There was plenty of room and their road had little enough traffic that I could easily walk my dog on it. We were able to work part time without distractions, it was the perfect location for our needs. Thanks again Phyllis and Lenny for letting us stay at your beautiful place!
We had a lovely evening at The East Estate. Very friendly hosts. The site and surrounding areas are beautiful. We highly recommend staying here.
We truly enjoyed our stay with phyllen. The East Estate is a wonderful place to relax and recharge... which is just what we did. We stayed in our 42 ft motorhome and we had no issues getting to the site. With all the amenities of a campground... plus a lovely duck pond to watch the rising sun... it was a stay we will return to when we are back in the area. Phyllen are wonderful hosts... ready to do anything they can to help... or to leave you be if that's what you need. Thank you Phyllen for such a great few days.
Fantastic stay overlooking the duck pond. Mrs. was very gracious and accommodating. Unfortunately Mr. was away attending to family. Looking forward to another visit.
Wonderful weekend. Enjoyed the natural beauty. Loved the little Methodist churchNCand our little dog Peincess felt like home.
