Jean and Jerry are licensed captains whose retirement activities include acting as training and delivery captains for new and experienced boat owners, exploring on their boat (Finished America's Great Loop in 2018), Camping in their converted Ram Promaster 3500!
We LOVE to share our experiences from navigating the waters of the United States, Canada and the Islands.
Our first trip in our converted van was in the summer of 2021. Our favorite spots have been in Maine, New Hampshire and upstate NY. Can't wait to travel more so I can update this!
Tarpon Springs, FL or wherever we happen to be!

I had to take my SO to the airport (a 4 hour round trip) and wasn't able to be here to meet/greet our guests upon their arrival. Probably a good thing based on our am conversations. I suspect had we started talking the evening before we would of been sharing van build stories and travel adventures into the wee hours. Very glad to meet you folks, travel safe and see ya' on the flip side.
I enjoyed meeting Jerry and Jean. I love what they did converting their camper. Wish we had more time to visit. Next year the property will be done with developing into a great camping area and hope they come back to enjoy it.
They were courteous, quiet, and self-sufficient. They kept me up to date on arrival times as well. Would be happy to host them again!
We really enjoyed chatting with MakinMemories and hearing all about their boating and camping experiences. They are such a nice couple - down to earth and so easy to talk to. We wish them safe travels wherever they go and we would definitely accommodate for them again. 😊
We so enjoyed having a cocktail and learning so much about the Loop and other travel stories that you shared. Traveling with them would be an amazing adventure. Would enjoy having them back anytime ☺️
It was a short visit, but we appreciate their assistance with capturing the rogue porcupette (aka baby porcupine) we had running around our yard. We wish they could have had better weather, but hope they enjoyed their stay anyway. They would be welcome back to stay anytime.
Very nice couple and it’s my pleasure to host them again if they passing by. Thanks for sharing the great state park near our home. WeIcome back anytime
I hosted MakinMemories for one evening. They kept updated on their ETA.. On their arrival we had a short, pleasant conversation. They were vert appreciative of their host and are welcome to return anytime they may wish to do so.
The spot is nice, however I didn't get a whole lota sleep, I though someone was walking around the camper about 3am did not feel really safe. Totally freak accident. Would definitely give it another go if I was going back thru.
The place was clean and well maintained. You can choose to stay in the shade under a big tree, or -if you have solar, like us- park in the sun.
The sponge docks are nearby, a fun place to spend some time.
The communication was great and the host was very nice and helpful.
Thanks so much for having us!
We had a great night's sleep at the Shady Lot. We didn't meet our hosts but they we great at communication. We enjoyed being close to Tarpon Springs and the Pinellas Trail.
The lot is level if you pull forward or back in just a little bit. It was easy to find. It's grassy so good traction and no dirt. It's a quiet part of the neighborhood. It's very nice for them to offer it to boondockers because Walmart, etc. in the area is not that good of an idea anymore.
Exactly as described and perfect place for us. Wonderful communication and i'm sure we will be back. Thznk you!
