In 2001, the Schicks bought a 200-acre dairy farm in Fultonville — not too far from the already famous New York Finger Lakes wine-making region — and planted 1,000 young vines by hand.
The grapes took root and gave birth to Hummingbird Hills Winery. It took seven years for the young vines to produce a sufficient crop of grapes. The first vintage was a success as Ken followed in the footsteps of his German ancestors — who had a knack for making wines and spirits.
By the end of the 2010 season, Kimm and Ken received approval from the State of New York and Hummingbird Hills Winery established its place on the map of New York Wine Trails. In 2019, Kimm and Ken will lovingly tend to 22,000 vines spread over a 26-acre vineyard.
Today, Kimm and Ken continue to craft a line of unique grape and fruit wines. Their winery was the first active winery in Montgomery County and they continue to produce a variety of wines using their own grapes and locally sourced fruits. Together, they focus their efforts on the taste and quality of the wine — keeping the process as natural as possible.
Hummingbird Hills Winery invites wine lovers to stop in every weekend for a taste of the most unique and flavorful wines in the region. The winery continues to flourish and produce a line of wines that truly provide an, “Escape from the Normal.”
We have beautiful views and peaceful quiet country surroundings.

Growing grapes and making wine!
Two dogs. Their names are Cider and Joey.
This location is super rural, but easy to access and the parking is a breeze, with an amazing view! The hosts have a lot to share about their winery, with a gift shop and wine tasting part of the attraction. This was our last stop on our way home, and we appreciated the stay. Thanks!
We stayed at the beautiful Hummingbird winery on thanksgiving day. We were on our way to pick our son up from college and it being the holiday we were having a very hard time finding a place for the night.
Hummingbird winery welcomed us for the night, they helped us with parking and even gave us electric connection for the night.
The morning walk with the dog was very nice.
Two things to love in life. Good wine and good company. You'll find both here with a fantastic view! Already looking forward to visiting again!
We enjoyed this location and peaceful night. Wine tasting was different and we left with a unique garlic cooking wine!
We enjoyed our stay here. We arrived at dusk but the hostess graciously squeezed in a quick tasting. I purchased the most interesting tomato-Serrano wine...can’t wait to concoct something with it! We awoke in the morning to the most beautiful scene of rolling hills and grapes! We were one of two that stayed over; we were in a 42’ fifth wheel and had a very comfortable spot. Thank you!
The hosts were amazing. They work so hard and I saw them be incredibly accommodating to their other guests. Great wine and good company.
I hope to be back !
We are so happy that we found this vineyard for our one night stay. Our hosts were incredibly accommodating and we had such a nice time meeting them, tasting their wine, and chatting about the vineyard. Our 38’ motor home was able to roll in with no problem and we easily found a level spot with a great view of the valley and sunrise. The kids had fun exploring and we all enjoyed the birds, which was the only sound. I would highly recommend this vineyard to anyone who is looking to feel comfortable, welcomed, and enjoy some wine and a serene environment.
