We are retired dairy farmers who now spend their winters volunteering in Florida State Parks. Our youngest son lives on the farm with us and together we raise beef cows and sell the meat directly at the farm. We also sell hay. We had a farm brewery but could not keep it going because of Covid and we do not plan on reopening it. We use the building for the sale of our beef and the parking lot for Harvest Hosts and, now, Boondockers.
We have dairy and farming/agriculture experience. Our youngest son races motocross and that is how we got into RVing years ago.
Not yet, but hope to find some soon.
Ilion, NY is our postal address but we actually live in the small Town of Litchfield, NY.
Damon Challenger Class A, 3 slides. We tow a 2011 Jeep Liberty.
Great host and property beautiful place and quiet. My son loved the jam and can’t wait to try the beef.
We visited here last year and dry camped out in the grassy field, all by ourselves. It was magnificent. The night sky here is amazing.
This year,we returned to find that our wonderful host Glen has been very busy improving the camping experience for his guests. Glen really does all this because he cares about the other members of the camping community.
The weather wasn't as good as last year, but the visit certainly was. When you visit, walk up the road, just past the house,at sunset. You won't be disappointed.
Had the pleasure of picking up a couple steaks, camping advice and a beautiful view at this farm. It is obvious that this gentleman has put a lot of work here, and it is much appreciated.
Quite nice area! We met the owners son who was very helpful and nice.
Easy setup. Watched dirt bikes doing jumps on a trail up on a hill. Enjoyed good conversation and purchased some yummy Triple Berry Jam and Strawberry Rhubarb jam. Would have gotten nice cuts of beef, had we known to arrive with an empty freezer!
Our host met us as we came in and helped us get set up in the campsite which was complete with water and power. There is even a convenient dump station. Our campsite looked out at a hayfield and trees—a very beautiful and peaceful view. We even purchased some pure maple syrup for our breakfast. This was a great place to stay for a few nights while we visited with relatives in the area and we truly appreciated the amenities that were provided for a very nominal fee. We hope to stay here again in the future. Thanks for everything!
30amp and water available. $20 for hookups. Beautiful views! Gravel lot entrance but parked on grass. Plenty of room to maneuver our 43ft 5th wheel! Hills mentioned in description refer to the roads from the town of Ilion up to the farm. Host is wonderful! They have a wide variety of jam, syrup, and beef for sale at reasonable prices. Fresh eggs sold next door as well! Amazing stay! Would definitely stay again!
Gorgeous view, wonderful host. If he has any beef for sale, buy it all. It's some of the best we've ever had. We have family in Ilion so this was the perfect location for us, just 8 minutes to the Marina and downtown but still out in the country. Also convenient to Cooperstown and other points of interest in the Upstate area. Our first morning we had our coffee while watching a herd of deer grazing along the treeline! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which our host was kind enough to extend because of the hurricane. He couldn't have been nicer. 30 amp, water, a dump station, all for a low, very reasonable donation. Highly recommended.
We were greeted by Glenn who showed us to our spot. We had 30 amp and water. There was a dump station but we didn't need it. We toured the building and learned it's story. We were also offered some goods from his farm that was for sale.
The host responded to us immediately, shared great directions and met us at the site. He invited us into his tap room to see the workman ship his son and the local Amish community had created. It was stunning. We had a friendly chat for quite some time and learned about his travels, passions and service work. The site was beautiful. We had water and electric on site and a dump station across the driveway. Our total fee was $20.00. We also purchased 2 lbs of chop meat. ( $8.00 ) Our site overlooked a magnificent meadow with mountains in the background. We walked up to a peak for a great vista. The weather did not cooperate, it was foggy and then rained through the night. There are 4 separate hook-ups. Only 1 other camper was there. This farm is perfect for boondocking, the host could not have been more hospitable. We are very pleased with our experience.
Looking forward to seeing you our next time through. Thank you!
Our stay at Gasstrom Farm was great! We we're greeted by a friendly host & we chatted with his son too, very nice folks! The property is beautiful & peaceful. Check this place out! We needed to hook up in electric & water & also has a sewer dump too so it's a bargain for a $20 stay :).
We had a lovely stay! We really enjoyed the scenery and watching the wildlife in mornings. Host was great and we really liked our goods we bought from his farm store.
Located in the heart of beautiful farm land, Gasstrom Farm is quite a gem. Amenities include 30 amp service, water and a dump station with plenty of room to maneuver. The price per day is $20 not $15 as listed.
This property was absolutely beautiful! The Host met us at arrival and was inviting and kind! The land was well maintained and spacious. This was my first Boondockers Welcome experience and I couldn’t have wished for anything more! I will be back!
Overall decent stay. spotty cell signal and lots of steep hills to get here but the view is great at the top.
F.Y.I - The price is now a $20 donation instead of $15 as advertised.
Thank you for being so accommodating and friendly! We really appreciate being able to stay a night on your property. It was easily accessible and the sign was helpful. 😊
We had a great time at Gasstrom Farms again. We were met by our host upon arrival. We were able to travel around the area and were recommended different places to eat. Very enjoyable time and nice quiet place to relax. We will be back again sometime in the future.
Awesome property. Glenn was a great host and a great guy to talk with. We stopped there to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. Easy and scenic drive to Cooperstown. Property was a full for all three days we were there, but it was great to meet and talk with other members. Property is up the hill from Ilion and has wonderful views, especially if you climb the hill on Glenn's property to the south. Glenn wasn't kidding when he said it was up a hill. Didn't see the views driving up to the property, but really enjoyed the views on the trip back down to Ilion. Can't recommend Glenn's site enough. Only con, Glenn's freeze was out of steaks and could only get a couple of gorgeous roasts. I am sure they will be awesome as well.
Accommodating offered water and electric. They also have a dumping station. Quiet country with lots of filling hills.
This is a beautiful spot. Take a walk down the road and gain beautiful vistas of the area. Gastrom Farm is a great place to stay. The host loves to share info about the area and will help you with whatever you need. I picked up a nice jar of homemade jam and went next door and got some farm fresh eggs. This was my second stop here and it will stay on my list of favorites. Thank you!
We were lucky enough to be able t o stay more than one day and it was very enjoyable. Glen is a welcoming host who makes sure you have everything you need. He is very informative about the area and all the places you need to see.
Make sure you take a moment and walk to the top of the hill..the view is amazing.
He has a little store that has jams, honey and beef! We bought some beef and can't wait to try it.
Would highly recommend this stop if you are in the area.
Was a nice easy, level and quiet overnight stop. He sells beef but we already had pheasant thawed out. Plenty of room with amenities even though we did not need them.
Very nice host. Helped get us set up and had a nice conversation. Sites are grass with electric and water. Beautiful view and walking for dog. One of the best sites we have had since we left home. Dont miss it if traveling this area.
Nice area to stay at. Looking out at pasture full moon rising beautiful. also some deer 1 night. Water and power nice bonus. Was 20 a night but worth it. When they say uphill, they're not kidding.
We stayed at Gasstrom Farm for three nights. It was quiet, and the fields are beautiful. The host met us when we arrived and told us where we could park. We were able to buy a bottom round roast from him that we cooked the next day. We were able to connect to 30 amp electric and water. There is also a dump available. It is a beautiful area and we would go back in a minute. We highly recommend this host.
We arrived at night and the sign and lights made the spot easy to find. We didn't need to use the hookups, but they were very convenient if we did. Wish we could have stayed longer!
My husband and I stayed at Gasstrom Farm a couple days ago for 2 nights and it was great. Our host pulled up as soon as we did and directed us where to park our rig while there. We were able to use water and dump while we were there which was great to do some laundry we had piling up! The host was very friendly and accomodating :) Before we left we purchased some ground beef and two strip steaks from him as he owns his own beef cattle. Overall the stay was very nice and quiet and we even had a few friendly neighbors who came to say hi while we were there as well!
Our night at Gasstrom farm had everything that we needed! There were 5 other very friendly travelers parked around the field. We really appreciated the option for hookups and the posts with lights. Wish we could have stayed in the area longer. Thanks again Glen, it was great!
Great experience at Gasstrom Farm. Beautiful farmland scenery.
We never met our host, but he gave good clear instructions regarding our stay and made us feel quite welcome.
Location was beautiful and peaceful.
The stay was GREAT! The place is just the right amount into the country side and still yet, close enough to town not make it a hassle. The hosts were very accommodating to whatever setup you have. While there we saw many different types of rigs come and go with ease.
Great to have hookups. Seemed to be more crowded than expected. Glad we arrived early enough to get a good spot and hookups.
Our host's son met us upon our arrival to one of the most beautiful spots we have ever been. The property overlooks several valleys and sits on a gorgeous farm with amazing views. The hook ups were easy and roads were paved and smooth all the way to the spot. We stayed on the 4th of July. We were directed to climb a hill on the property to see all around and it did not disappoint. We saw several firework displays as we sat near a momma dear and her twins. The night sky was so clear that I stargazed late into the night. What a pleasant, quiet and relaxing stay for our overnight stop. Thank you to an amazing family.
Very nice site, had 30 amp power, water and even had a dump station! Only issue was it is unlevel which he is in the process of fixing. Is a very nice place, will be exceptional once the sites are level!
We enjoyed our short stay at Gasstrom Farm. Our Host was welcoming and accommodating. The site was rural and quiet and we enjoyed chatting with other Boondockers that were staying there.
This was a peaceful spot with electrical and water hook-ups. The host stated that it was $20 to use the hook-ups instead of the $15 listed, but that was not a problem. The dump spot is not really level and it an awkward spot, but if you have a portable tank caddy, it is not a problem. I took advantage of the area by driving over to see the Baseball Hall of Fame and that place was awesome.
Was met when we pulled in and helped us pick a spot!! Bought a piece of London Broil to cook later in our travels…very quiet stay
First and foremost we loved our stay. Our host was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be scheduling to come back someday.
We tow a 43ft 5th wheel and the spot was big enough for us to turn around and get set up. We also use Verizon and we had LTE the whole time. As far as big rig spots this was perfect. The spot is 30 amp, but we came prepared with a dog bone adapter. The dump station was maybe 15 ft away where I just used our external tank and walked it there. It was a beautiful spot and very quiet.
We really enjoyed our time there and so will you.
We found Gasstrom farm to be an excellent place to stay. The sites are level and abut a field. We hand plenty of room for our rig and truck. The drive in is hilly and the roads are in really great shape. It is nice and quiet with really nice views. The hosts are great. We will stay again when we are passing through the area.
My husband and I along with our 2 dogs and cats have been newbies traveling around the country in our new to us Class A. Glen was great, greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful to give tips to the area. He also has a small farm store that sells jams and beef, etc. We had quite a bit of rain, but it was great to have the hookups for this stay. Would stay again if in the area.
Very nice host. Ideal setup.
Highly recommend the location.
Glgasstrom met us at the camp site, a bit down the road from his home, chatted a bit, and sold us some delicious blackberry jam, which was perfect as we had just run out of jelly and I was not wanting to make yet another trip to the store. Very friendly, let the kids run around in the field which was so nice after a long travel day. Thanks so much for your hospitality! We were happy to have the last night of our two month trip end on a high note at your farm.
This was a delightfully quiet spot to stay the night. We used the electric ($15.00), water also available. Glenn met us there and we enjoyed our visit with him and purchased some of the beef that he had in his freezers. We also enjoyed the walk to the top of the hill for both the exercise and the view. We would definitely like to stay here again to enjoy the area activities!
Gorgeous area: hills, farms, barns
Enjoyed getting acquainted with host and his son. Met us at site and helped us get set up.
Be sure to take advantage of home grown beef for sale! Delicious!
What a great stop, great folks, their travel stories were great to listen too! We will stop by again in the future.
This was perfect for a single night of several on the road. The power was easy to access. We never located water, but for a single night it wasn't necessary. It was important to follow the shared directions rather than count on our app. Would stay again!
glgasstrom is a great host and the site is beautiful! My wife really enjoyed the Amish in the area.
Wonderful stay at the farm. Our host was welcoming, and we had a nice chat.We also bought some local beef and honey, and a short walk down the road, fresh local eggs. The spectacular view, and we saw huge night sky makes camping in this field and amazing experience.
Beautiful spot, enjoyed our stay. Also picked up some awesome honey from the farm. Thanks for having us!!
This was a great spot very quiet, the holes were excellent very entertaining great stories of their travels, we definitely will be back again
Our Host were great and provided a nice quiet place to stay. Nice rolling hills and farm land all around. We will be going back again.
We enjoyed our stay at Gasstrom Farm. We were meet and shown around. They were very nice and helpful. We even bought some beef (can't wait to make stew). We choose not to use their hookups. Our son loved looking around the field. Definitely would stay again.
The site was excellent and roomy. Our hosts were very accommodating. They showed us around, introduced us to cows, and we're generally wonderful.
