Retired in 2015 from the Telecommunications industry. Spent the past 3-4 years preparing our property and building our retirement home. I am a DIY type and so the two of us have done everything except Blocks and Gas lines. We now have time to develop our 189 Acre homestead and are able to welcome guests. We are always improving and expanding our roads and trail system.
Jack of all trades, expert in nothing. Plumbing, wiring, mechanics, welding, milling lumber, crushing rocks into gravel, screening gravel, chipping wood, digging holes. Might have a few screws left over, but will take anything apart LOL.
We currently do not own a pet but have owned dogs for 28 years and plan to get a dog in the future.
We have only boondocked at family properties but plan to do an Alaska trip and camp where ever our Truck Camper takes us.
We live in Chisholm Township, a rural farming community. Both my wife Moreen and I were raised in North Bay, ON just 45 minutes away. We lived for 21 years and raised our children in Brampton,ON prior to retiring.
2015 Chev Silverado 2500HD, 2018 Palomino HS6601 truck camper. Both White.
Very respectful. Short visit but pleasant couple. Very respectful of social distancing.
We had a wonderful time staying here! Our host met us as soon as we arrived to let us know where to setup. In the evening we had a fire with our host and had a great time! Our host recommended the Duchesnay falls trail in north bay and we really enjoyed it! Would definitely stay here again, thank you for having us!
To start off this property is so far out that the Cell reception is as weak as my own Hosting location, which I thought was not possible, but there is some service if you look for a hill to stand on. The host is a very nice gentleman and basically told us to pick any spot we like. After walking around for quite some time we settled on a parking spot. There is no power but it sounds like there could be some time down the road. There are lots of solar panels to the cabins for the Host, and you will be truly living off the grid in this location. There is a large fire pit that we were told we could use and it even was tarped in case it rained. Some tree trunk chairs and benches to sit on if you didn't bring your own. This property is so quiet that you will think you have left planet earth and went to silent heaven.
Since we didn't have hydro we ran the generator, which killed our quiet time a little, but the Host also has an insolated box to put the generator into, so it's like less than 1/2 the noise, so sweat bonus. We only ran the generator until the trailer was nice and cool then we turned it off and went to bed. It was sweet dreams all night.
I really want to go back someday to explore this property a lot more.
Thanks to our kind Host for the great conversation and the very level spot to park. I didn't even need to unhook the truck to level the trailer. Work and time saved!!
The only downside is that the bugs are big and they come in black clouds, so if you are thinking you can handle the OutBack, this is your place!!! P.s.if it's been raining you may want a 4X4, there is lots of sand but seemed solid under that. Put the vehicle into 4x4 before entering the laneway for sure.
I broke down the day that I was meant to stay here and they went out of their way to come pick me up, tow me to their place, and help transfer me to a different trailer to leave. Their campsite is also lovely with plenty of space to park and nice trails to walk through. Good place to stay at, great people to stay with.
A very secluded spot reached about 16km on a firm, dirt road. This family compound is nestled in the woods. Our Host had prepared a spacious, flat location to park. They were kind enough to invite us join them around the fire pit in the evening and got to know some very interesting people. We would be happy to stay again.
Chisholm Trails host a property with beautiful acreage, trails, and privacy. Very accommodating, generous, and a pleasure to meet. Would love to visit them again next time I'm in the area.
My wife and I would like to thank our hosts for such a memorable experience, from the minute our host met us at the beginning of the trail in to the campfire that was already going for us upon arrival to this truly picturesque boondocking site.We had a terrific evening talking with our hosts by the campfire which is the things memories are made of.Again from the Clarks,a very big thank you for a truly wonderful experience on our adventure around Ontario.
Our second stay using BW took us to an amazing spot in “True” wilderness, A short drive off Hwy 11 south of North Bay took us to a spot that is simply pristine/quiet and very welcoming. Our hosts met us at the gate and ensured we got in and parked then left us to our trailer. We welcomed them back later for a social around a relaxing fire. Very easy couple to visit with and a wealth of local knowledge. It is a spot we WANT to return to again. Thank You so much for the hospitality.
