A few years ago my husband Darren and I got tired of gear intensive car camping scene (and sleeping on the ground) and invested in Wiley, our Class B van. It has allowed us so much more freedom to get away for quick camping trips and weekends of skiing! We both work full time stressful jobs and seek these get-aways to relax and re-center. I work full time as a brand director for a medical device and outdoor gear manufacturer. Our hobbies include hiking, skiing, cycling, and stand up paddle boarding. We love the snow, water, mountains, beaches and desert. Some times our trips are adventure focused where we want to hike, wine taste or sight see but other times we just want to unplug without the chaos of a campground and get off the beaten path. We especially love star gazing in dark skies and are always trying to find the next meteor shower or aurora sighting! We are non-smokers, respectful of the environment and other people's property. We thank our future hosts and understand that this is a privilege that you are willing to share your little piece of heaven with us.
Darren loves gardening and we both love mason bees. You can ask us about the when the next meteor shower will be or the International Space Station flyover. If we don't know we have apps to track all of that! We both love wine and can recommend different Washington wines. I have also been known to make some nice cocktails if you enjoy a happy hour. In a former life I worked as a physical therapist and can recommend a stretch or two...
Yes, we have only one pet. Her name is Roxy and she is a 55 lb mixed breed rescue pup that is a year and half old at the time of this writing. The genetic testing came back with Roxy being a Border Collie and Lab mix with some cattle dog and flat coated retriever hidden in there too. That means she is super smart and loves water and tennis balls. She loves to play with toys and other dogs and regularly goes to doggy day care for play dates. We keep her fully vaccinated, wormed and can provide paper work on request.
One of our favorite locations was dry camping in a pasture in the middle of the John Day area of Oregon. We went to watch the eclipse and then everyone left. It was so quiet we could hear the coyotes howl at night while we saw so many stars in the night sky it took our breath away! We have enjoy boon docking near the Pacific coast beaches because we love walking on the beach with our dog. We have also found a few places on BLM land near reservoirs which are super fun too when we bring the paddle boards. During a two week long venture we drove along the highways in California randomly stopping to explore hot springs and then lucked into the best camping spot boondocking in a little known BLM spot. It was just us and the vultures with nobody else there!
Darren and I live in Des Moines, Washington just south of Seattle. We lovingly call our little home the beach chalet because we are a few blocks from the Puget Sound and love to watch the eagles fly and hope someday to spot some of the whales that pass through. Susan also serves on the community Board of Directors as Secretary.
