I am a retired USAF optometrist. I spent 5 yrs RVing full time in my Class A. I have now settled on a property with room to accommodate peeps who are enjoying the RV lifestyle. I am a believer in karma and the whole "pay it forward" concept.
Single woman traveling experience. 30+yrs optometric/medical experience. 21 yrs military experience. I have been single most of my life so very self sufficient. I am a parent and welcome parents & families. Long time geocacher...I have been inactive for a few years but have a lot of experience geocaching stateside and in many other countries.
5 dogs / 2 cats. I traveled with 2 small dogs (shih tzu/bichon & scottie/bishon) & 2 cats for 5 years in the RV. Now that I have a permanent home with some space, I added a litter of 3 lab mix puppies rescued from the local shelter...they are currently 1 year old. All dogs are friendly but may alert bark until they are assured you are welcome...this takes just a couple of minutes if you like/tolerate dogs. If you are not comfortable with a pack of dogs that might lick you to death, I recommend you stay in the front yard outside the fence (no hookup).
My parents backyard in Manhattan, KS
LaMoure, ND is where I grew up. I attended undergrad in ND, grad school in OR then practiced in IL for a bit before joining the USAF. As a military member, I have called 8 places "home"...some stateside (CA, TX x2, NV, MD & FL)...some overseas (South Korea & Germany). Now home is Perry, FL.
We really appreciated being able to stop here for the night, and the host really went out of her way to make sure we were set-up and comfortable. She has the hospitable character that makes us so grateful to be a part of this community. Highly recommend her, especially if you are a dog person :)
This was a perfect spot to stay a few nights, stretch out and recharge after a long drive! The property being big and fenced in was so nice for us to let our dog out and he made some new buddies! It was also very nice of her to let us add to her Aluminum stash (even though FL has no return) and to her compost pile. We meant to join the crossfit across the gym for a class ($10 for dropin) but I ended up just going for a nice run- area seems safe! We enjoyed chatting with our host and her dogs were very friendly as well :) We hope to visit again someday!
This was another great location and host!! Very nice and level parking. We will stop again if coming through the area. I highly recommend this location.
Great place near the highway with elect and water. Dawn was great met us at the gate and showed us our spot. Great Host!
It was nice to be off the road for the day after a lengthy drive. Our host was friendly, welcomed us, and made sure we were parked and settled, then gave us time to decompress. It was a nice, level spot. The peace and quiet was blissful, and we slept like babies. We highly recommend this host.
This location was extremely nice! The host Was very hospitable and offered Electric and water as needed. There is a dump station within a few miles that was free upon request.
We also had the company of the dogs and this made it feel like home. The hostess was very friendly and we made a friend who has a heart of gold.
We would return just to visit.
Dawn came right out and gave me my choice of spots (I picked the easiest one). Really friendly and helpful. Easy in and out. Great location. Highly recommend.
This location is wonderful, had a great visit with social distancing as it is a lovely outdoor area. Dawn is the perfect host. She has 5 wonderful dogs that are very well behaved and friendly. We enjoyed our visit and highly recommend Dawn and this location. Sorry Dawn cannot figure out how to leave the pictures I took of your area.
We have had a great time at Dawn of a New Day. It was a great stay. And she has some great four legged kids. Would meet us every morning.
Thank you for a awesome stay.
You will sleep peacefully if your lucky enough for an opening to stay with this beautiful soul. :)
We had a very pleasant stay, even extended a day to be able to finalize our follow on travel plans.
We were able to pull directly into the large fenced yard and up to the hookups. Plenty of room to maneuver to pull straight out on departure. Enjoyed clean 50 amp power and filtered well water. The host’s 5 dogs kept us entertained with their antics as they had the run of the yard. We were not bothered in the least, but she offered to keep them out of our way if we were. It was nice to be able to add our kitchen scraps to her compost, and our clear plastic and aluminum to her recycling. We hated having to throw it out in the trash as we travelled.
Her medical connections ensured we all practiced social distancing during our stay, yet we still managed to enjoy visiting on occasion. Wish we could have had a better opportunity.
The nearby town is small but had plenty of nationwide businesses and a hospital for just about any need you might have.
We’d happily stay here again, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
This is a great place to stay. unfortunately we didn't get to spend a lot of time with the host due to social distancing. Will try and stay again if we are back in Florida again.
I stayed in the fenced in area so that my dog could "frolic" with her dogs .... they got along well and Chicklet enjoyed the freedom of "running wild", and I enjoyed having electricity as it was a hot night and having an air conditioner was great.
I forgot to print out the direction before arriving and relied on my GPS and luckily my rig was small enough to get under a few hanging branches OK .... but my recommendation.... print out the directions and you will save yourself from having a headache.
Thank you Dawn .... Would recommend your place to everyone (especially dog lovers!!!)
We would definitely recommend Dawn of A New Day. We had a wonderful host and we truly enjoyed all five dogs. VERY well behaved dogs, even the 6 month old pups were very well behaved too. Our daughter loved playing with the pups! We are so grateful we were able to stay here and the warm welcome and hospitality! It’s definitely a place we would come back to :)
Dawn was a wonderful host who went out of her way to be helpful in somewhat trying circumstances. As Canadians in the US when Covid-19 was just becoming worse, and we were waiting for repair on our RV, we were somewhat stressed and staying to ourselves more than we normally do. The property is perfect for hosting boondocks and has everything one could hope for. Being able to pet the dogs certainly helped keep our blood pressure in check.
Dawn of a New Day was an excellent host, quick response, great communication, big yard to camp in, easy in and out, highly recommend!
We stayed with wernerdl for 4 nights and we couldn't have asked for a better person as a host. Her lot is very large, as we have a 43' 5th wheel, and had no problem maneuvering into position. Wernerdl has a 50 amp outlet at her pavilion and she welcomed us to use it. She also has fresh well water available. Wernerdl is a pet lover with 2 cats (we didn't see them) and 5 dogs. Our Lola had a ball running the fenced in lot with her new friends. This was our 1st Boondockers welcome stay. Wernerdl will be a tough act to follow :).
