We are a couple that often travels with 2 dogs. They are very well mannered and easily controlled. We have a newish RV and prefer boondocking over campgrounds. Love to hike, kayak, and bike when possible.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Nothing startling or impressive. Just homespun handiness when needed.

PiperGilbert's Pets

We have two dogs - a 4 year old catahoula mix, and a 3 year old dalmation hound mix. They are very well traveled and trained. They love to go off leash, but they generally stay close to us, and we have radio collars for them, if they wander too far so we can get them back. They love everyone - dogs included for the most part, but squirrels and other small rodents should run or face consequences - so we prefer to stay places that do not have cute furry pets - cats included. However, we have chickens, and they have been trained to not harm chickens!! We are very responsible about their behavior and clean up.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

The more remote the better!

Great Enjoyable Guests. Fun, Friendly Dogs. :-)

Our second Boondockers guests and what a joy. So many stories and experiences shared. Absolutely loved watching the dogs entertainment themselves. One was a swimmer and one was an spectator. Enjoyed sitting by the fire and chatting both nights. Hoping they will visit again soon.

Like the Van!

This couple was great to spend some time with around the campfire. We had some happy conversations sharing stories. Enjoyed the time spent getting to know them and would enjoy meeting up with them anytime.

In love with "Roly and Piper"

What a wonderful, and too brief a visit from Piper Gilbert and her "furry family". Our pup, Rosie, awaited their arrival with anticipation and she was not disappointed. Neither were we. What a wonderful couple and great dogs. I hope they will make this a regular stop anytime they are passing through. A Positive A+ experience.

Perfect guest!

We felt an instant connection with PiperGilbert! An incredibly independent and confident young woman and wonderful conversationalist. Wished she could have stayed longer and we can't wait to meet her husband and dogs in the future. We thoroughly enjoyed her visit! So glad she chose to stay here.

Perfect getaway

Host was super accommodating and supportive in navigating the ferry. We loved the campfire and sharing stories with her. Her dogs are sweet and chickens are cute! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and we didn’t want to leave the island! Definitely worth the ferry ride to visit here!

Beyond expectations!

This was my BoondockersWelcome stay and the host couldn’t have been more helpful, generous and kind. From the ferry logistics to island recommendations and fresh eggs they were so welcoming to me and my dog. I highly recommend the walk to Hutchinson Island at low tide. This is a very special place I wouldn’t have visited without BoondockersWelcome, if you’re in the area, this is worth a side trip.
