We are a couple that often travels with 3 dogs. They are very well mannered and easily controlled. We have a newish RV and prefer boondocking over campgrounds. Love to hike, kayak, and bike when possible.
Nothing startling or impressive. Just homespun handiness when needed.
We have three dogs - a 13 year old standard poodle, a 3 year old catahoula mix, and a 2 year old dalmation hound mix. They are all very well traveled and trained. They have traveled in hotels, in the RV or just long road trips. They love to go off leash, but they generally stay close to us, and we have radio collars for the young ones if they wander too far so we can get them back. They love everyone - dogs included for the most part, but squirrels and other small rodents should run or face consequences - so we prefer to stay places that do not have cute furry pets - cats included. However, we have chickens, and they have been trained to not chase, catch, or kill chickens!! We are very responsible about their behavior and clean up.
We are still new to it, but one of the best places we have been to in Maine is the Lost Valley Ski area.
We live on Islesboro, an island off the coast of Maine.
2018 Airstream Interstate Grand Tour - 24 feet. We have a Toad/Dinghy we pull behind the RV. It is a 2 door Jeep Wrangler.
We felt an instant connection with PiperGilbert! An incredibly independent and confident young woman and wonderful conversationalist. Wished she could have stayed longer and we can't wait to meet her husband and dogs in the future. We thoroughly enjoyed her visit! So glad she chose to stay here.
Always too short of a visit! Glad you got some rest! Thanks for stopping by!
Super host status.
Wonderful visit to the island, Wonderful host, friends, biking, hiking, beaches and community.
Host was super accommodating and supportive in navigating the ferry. We loved the campfire and sharing stories with her. Her dogs are sweet and chickens are cute! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and we didn’t want to leave the island! Definitely worth the ferry ride to visit here!
This was my BoondockersWelcome stay and the host couldn’t have been more helpful, generous and kind. From the ferry logistics to island recommendations and fresh eggs they were so welcoming to me and my dog. I highly recommend the walk to Hutchinson Island at low tide. This is a very special place I wouldn’t have visited without BoondockersWelcome, if you’re in the area, this is worth a side trip.
