Empty nesters very fortunate to be able to travel and boondock (frugally)
We live in a townhome and can only allow boondockers by "stealth", so this would mean van campers only.
I have installed a couple of solar systems on our present and previous RV's. It's not getting any easier at my age!
Southern Utah, western Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Pacific Northwest
We have a 31' 5w with a bike rack which probably makes it about 33' plus the pick-up. Bought used. It is a 2005 Crossroads Cruiser w/ 2 slides. Many times we have wished we had a van camper like Marianne and Randy so we could get into some of the remote areas that we can't access now for boondocking. We've added solar panels and catalytic heater. It has fairly large holding tanks (60gal fresh, 2-40gal gray, and 40gal black)We can easily stay two weeks in one location without dumping. We carry extra fresh water in containers. It is quite comfortable and pulls easily with our '04 Ford Superduty diesel. Fuel mileage ranges between 10-14 mpg.
We stayed with denlin2 in July on our way to an RV Rally in Iowa. When we arrived, they came out and assisted us in getting the RV backed up their driveway and hooked up to electric. We spent some time talking with them that evening and again in the morning before we left. We felt as though we made some new friends and would be very happy if they would let us stay with them in the future.
I so enjoyed my time with Dennis and Linda! They are the nicest people; the salt-of-the-earth. They so generously opened their home to my dog and I and I will never forget the blessed time I spent with them at their beautiful place!!
