We retired a few years ago and enjoy travel and carrying for our home and acreage. My spouse is a visual artist specializing in watercolors and particularly enjoys painting landscapes.
We enjoy sharing travel experiences as well as learning about travel adventures from others.
We have two Very friendly Golden Retrievers that often travel with us.
Our mailing address is Friendsville, MD, and live within one mile of PA and four miles from WV.
We have a class B camper and sometimes pull a pop up Aliner behind it - the class B is 24 ft and the pop up is 16 ft.
Respectful campers and and are more than welcome to stay when in the area.
This host was wonderful! Access is easy and the beauty that surrounds you appeals to every sense! Plenty of room in their meadow and their property is truly unique. It was a totally relaxing experience! Thank you!
Beautiful rural retreat in western Maryland mountains. Host were super welcoming and gracious with their time. We enjoyed our conversations and time together. Would definitely recommend!!
Beautiful home in the countryside, beautiful Meadow to Boondock in. Lots of room for the dogs to run.
What a great spot! The road to Mountainside of Maryland was a bit tight for our Fleetwood Bounder but with Bill’s help We didn’t have any issues. We had a wide open field to set up and our dogs loved the chance to run free. Although we only spent one night and we didn’t have the opportunity to talk at length we did have several short conversations about our trips and some general conversation. The hosts we great to interact with. When you get there take the Time to view the exterior of the home. The back ground on the home is very interesting. To top it off the star gazing was amazing.
We just needed some downtime with a quick overnight stay after a full day of traveling. Our host was so kind and helpful setting us up in the perfect spot for some peaceful rejuvenation and a comfortable nights sleep. Thank you!!!
Our stay at Woodside Retreat was excellent. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay accommodating and enjoyable. Both host were extremely friendly and we really enjoyed our time visiting with them and sharing travel experiences and ideas. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was on the entire property....it made for a very peaceful nights sleep. It’s a beautiful area to explore if you so desire. If not, Woodside Retreat is also just a great place to relax. We would stop here again for sure, if in the area, and plan on keeping in touch with the host as they, and their son, were such friendly, and gracious people.
Words can’t express the architecture of the host home. What a delight to be given a tour shortly after a warm greeting at the gate to a meadow for parking on a nearly level grassy site in the shade of a large evergreen tree. The walk along a shaded lane by a covered bridge and up a hill to the host house was enhanced by a running commentary of local history. The evening was capped off on the deck with exchange of ideas on many topics interspersed with cheese and crackers and sips of Chardonnay. The hostess is a pro at watercolors which are a delight. Next year will try 2 days to explore this area.
A wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful & quiet night. The hosts were warm and hospitable. We took a walk to the reservoir in the early morning hearing the birds sing an the sound of the bubbling Mill Stream.
This was my first stay using my Boondockers Welcome membership. And I was the first guest for this host too. It was a great introduction to this organization. MountainsideOfMaryland were Great hosts and treated me like an old friend. They met me down at their mailbox, even though their directions made it easy to find. Showed me a couple of places to park my RV and invited me up to their home for a beverage and a very pleasant conversation about travel and RVing and their home which is eclectic and lovely. I parked down by the garden and had a few very quiet evenings. Saw them both mornings and we talked about their garden and the beautiful area they live in. This is definitely a place I would like to return to again especially in the fall, this place would be gorgeous.
Practical matters. Very strong signal from Verizon which surprised me do to the remoteness of the area. The roads to the location would be more fun in a Miata than a motorhome but I had no problem in my 25ft class C, just take it slow there are a number of working farms on the way. There is a COE campground (no hook ups) not far down the road from their place that has a dump station and potable water.
