We were so happy to have Gladmar visit us even if if was a very quick visit. We had stayed at their place two years ago and it was fun to catch up. We hope they visit again!
Gladys and MaryAnn were wonderful guests and can stop back anytime.
What a treat to share our country space with two congenial, passionate, experienced travelers and their furry friends, Roxy and Foxy. We hope they make us a regular stop in their wanderings...there will always be a welcoming reception here.
And charming these 2 gals were! I could not have possibly had a better experience hosting my first Boondockers, Glady, MaryAnn, and their incredibly well-behaved pups! Never having hosted before, a had a bit apprehension, but these 2 ladies were kind enough to share their experiences with me, and after hearing their wonderful insights, I'm so grateful to have found this Boondocker community. Loved visiting with them, and hope to see them again next time they pass through the Upper Peninsula!
Roxy and Foxy the pomeranians were great guests, they can come back anytime and bring their humans too!
Jokes aside, two wonderful ladies, they were a pleasure to host.
These ladies are just the best hosts . They are extremely welcoming and they made us feel like we belonged there. We left wishing we could stay much longer and they even gave us delicious ginger cookies for the road. Thank you ladies! Those cookies did not make it to Canada!!
The dogs, Foxy & Roxy, greeted us warmly, as did our hosts Gladmar. We always look forward to a good visit w/them, which we had, and we spent a cool, quiet evening in our site. Since we have stopped there for years and years, we felt, once again, at home. Thanks, Gladmar!
Upon arrival both young ladies greeted us with a warm welcoming smile and kindly directed us to our parking spot. We shared each other’s company over a glass of wine and before you knew it the time ran so fast, the evening was over.
Our paths will definitely cross in the future.
We loved our visit and enjoyed chatting with very knowledgeable rvers. Beautiful countryside getting there. (Wi-Fi from the parking spot was poor)
Our December stay was excellent as usual. Our hosts were more than welcoming! And if that weren't enough, to get special welcoming from Foxy & Roxy makes the stay extraordinarily wonderful; nothing matches their welcome esp. as a stress reliever! Many thanks!
What a great location, if using Google Maps it's labelled xxxxxx Dr. as opposed to Branch.
What a welcome, as animal lovers the dogs fast became our best friends. Even the local neighbours mini Labrador came and said hi.
Our hosts were most welcoming and we spent an hour or so getting to know each other and some of the adventures we all have had. Snuggles and pats abounded as we enjoyed the warmth of the house and the great conversation.
We really appreciated the hospitality and the genuine warmth of this gem of a boondockers stay.
Geo_Tribe.
Had a fun drive in the FOG, worked out great. Thanks to the hosts for everything. We’d stop there again if we’re back that way again.
It was a pleasure to meet these women and they were extremely hospitable to us as well as to our dogs. They have a great fenced in area where the dogs can run around. And their own dogs are very sweet. We hope to be able to return to this spot in the future. It was great!
Wow, this is the meaning of gracious hosting! We really enjoyed both of these interesting ladies and even got to join them for a delicious dinner which was very much appreciated after our snowy departure from Canada. This is a beautiful spot which is right off the parkway and their directions were spot on. Thank you ladies we hope to see you again and it would be even better if we could return the favour at our place. When you come please bring some of those delicious cookies!
We stayed with these two delightful ladies on our way north 2 months ago. We so very fortunate to have stayed again on our way south. Once again, the epitome of Blue Ridge Plateau hospitality and graciousness. And our basset hounds got to reacquaint with their old friends, Foxy and Roxy. Thank you dear ladies for the pleasure of your company and beautiful home. We look forward to seeing you in October.
This slice of heaven is literally 300 yards off the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Blue Ridge plateau. Their location may well be the closest to the Elysian Fields you will finds on God's good earth. Their accommodations for camping are the best we have seen. Please thank your neighbor, the 3,000,000 mile retired professional trucker, for his invaluable assistance in backing in our 5th wheel. Actually he did not assist, he parked it. It got better. Our hosts invited use to have dinner with them replete with stimulating conversation and wine. Such hospitality is a welcomed rarity today. We look forward to seeing you again on our return to Florida later this summer. Bless you ladies!
Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia!
What a wonderful place and people (4 legs and 2) to spend the night.
Gladmar unexpectedly invited us to dinner upon our arrival. We both shared our meals into one great potluck.
Though shrimp creole and taco salad might sound weird, it was actually quite a taste treat, followed by homemade strawberry short cake.
Our hosts were wonderful conversationalists, telling great stories of their travels and life experiences.
Once again we arrive as strangers and leave as friends.
Fair winds on your travels, Gladmar!
Absolutely beautiful location. Hosts are so kind and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended!!!!!
Gladmar was my very first guest when I joined BW, and I was very excited to visit them on my Spring travels while waiting for the Upper Peninsula to thaw out.
What a wonderful treat for my dogs and I to be welcomed into their property the way we were! Sharing stories about our mutual BW experiences has only confirmed what a truly great community of RVers is out there. These young ladies couldn’t have been any more accommodating, and I left there more knowledgeable about some things than when I arrived. 😊
The icing on the cake, was the fragrance from the Lilac bush permeating the camper when I finally hit the sack. That, coupled with the sound of the wind and the gentle rain lulled me into the best sleep I’ve had since I’ve been on my journey. 🤗
Who could have a bad boondocking day when foxy and roxy make you smile? And Gladys and Marianne too.
I believe we have made lifelong friends these two ladies couldn't get any nicer will try to stay here not just for boondocking but to renew our friendship that was created by this thing called boondocking and what in life could be better than that.
Alan Emma and Holly
My stay with Gladmar couldn't have been any better. Wonderful hosts , great site, interesting conversations. I hope they will visit me one day.
Meng, Ruliang, Ling, and I were touched by the warm-hearted hospitality extended by Gladys and Marie Rose. It was a very cold and windy evening and they met us in the driveway, guided us to our spot, showed us where to hook up to electric and invited us in for a delicious dinner! Their property is gorgeous and right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Seriously... amazing experience!
this was our first boondockers stay and we loved it what a great experience with two very kind ladies, their dogs are so friendly and I think they just loved our puppy holly, This whole deal presents itself with the chance to meet different people and find out just how great americans really are.
We were delighted to see all our friends, esp. Foxy & Roxy and now Chase! We had a lovely, quiet evening, which is worth a lot. Thanks, Gladys and Marianne.
This was a great stop. love agricultural areas. quiet peaceful setting, beautiful sunset, very warm and inviting hosts. I will be back again
We can't tell you how ultra special this stay was for us!
These two incredible ladies and their precious little dogs, Roxie and Foxie made us feel so welcomed. They most certainly went above and beyond! Thank you, dear friends!
This was our first introduction with the Boondockers Welcome group and we were abit nervous to say at the least.
We feel like we're special friends now and definitely would stay with these lovely ladies again. Hope to have all visit us once we get settled!
We had a wonderful stay with Gladys and Marianne. The spot for the camper was perfect and flat. They allowed us to use Water and Electric and even gave us a beautiful dinner. We hope to see them in Vermont this summer if they're able to travel North.
Beautiful Place, wonderful hosts, rich experiences, cute and friendly dogs. We absolutely enjoyed our visit!! Lots of Laughs and lots of fun! Look forward to visiting again!
Terrific ladies and place to set up the camper. Had good conversations with Gladys and Mary Ann about traveling and Boondockers. They were so gracious. Beautiful property off Virginia Blue Ridge.
Welcomed like family.
Really nice and quiet place to recover from traveling.
A must stop when in the area to overnight or just visit.
Highly recommend.
I don't even know what to say. I am not speechless very often, but this was absolutely beautiful. If your travels take you close even remotely close to Fancy Gap Va. I would advise you to stay at this paradise. I have not felt this welcome from some of my own family, these ladies are wonderful. If the world were full of these kind of people we would have no problems. The long and short is I would like to thank them sooo much and I hope we will be welcomed back....Thanks Again, Sherman and Sherry You have just a awesome place...........
My stay was absolutely wonderful, beautiful, fantastic! Thank you so much for your kind hospitality. I surely hope our paths will cross again. Thank you!
Perfect location, level parking with power and water. Exceptional hospitality by two lovely ladies who have traveled abundantly. Wonderful dinner, great conversation and amazing cookies! Loved their traveling companions, Roxy and Foxy too!
We had the absolute pleasure of spending a couple of days exploring the parkway and chatting with these Beautiful Ladies. The company was wonderful we even got love from the fur babies Roxy and foxy x thank you for welcoming us into your home it was a brilliant visit x
They hosted us and made ourself very confortable. We feeled making part of their family. Beautiful site and nice meeting. We hope seeing you soon at our shack in Canada.
Tank you and stay young...
Ps. Your cookies are very good
In the midst of a cold, cold January that made our RV a hazardous place to stay, going to Gladmar's place of refuge was a blessing. Many thanks for your hospitalities. Surely, we'll see you again soon.
We were welcomed very warmly and had a great quiet spot . Our hosts brought out suggestions on where we might like to go and see local music and that fit in so well with our timing "awesome" we would recommend them and stay again if we're in their area.
Well this is what Boondockerswelcome.com is all about, having a nice safe place to layover a night or so and to meet exceptionally nice people. These 2 host are the greatest people you can and will meet. I have traveled throughout the US and world for work and seldom do you get a chance to meet this caliber of people. They are gracious enough to allow you to plug into the electric and water if available. But I have also found other Boondockerswelcome.com host do the same, man what a great organization to be a part of. If you are going to be in this area I highly recommend you contact these 2 and if your lucky there will be other guest here also to visit with. Ok if you should find yourself staying here you will have a great stay guaranteed.
We couldn't have chosen a better place nor more congenial hosts for our first boondocking experience. They have a beautiful property and made us feel very welcome. We look forward to keeping in touch and seeing them again. Pat and John
We were so lucky to find gladmar's posting and have them accept us as visitors to boondock. What a beautiful gem of a place in the hills of Virginia. Although we didn't meet our hosts, they generously offered a 30 amp hookup, access to water and wifi for which we were very grateful. Due to GPS problems, we arrived very late. Gladmar had provided coordinates but our GPS wasn't working properly which resulted in us circling around till the wee hours and almost running out of gas! But it was all worth it to be able to stay here for the night. Thank you, Gladmar, for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. We are so grateful to you both and hope that your travels and boondocking are just as wonderful as ours have been. We would love to host you at our place near Ottawa, Canada, if you are ever in our area. Thanks so much!
Spent a second visit with these wonderful ladies. Feel like family. Very comfortable, friendly and accommodating!!
We only wish we could have stayed longer! Perfect hosts.
Once again my dog and I were very welcomed by these ladies on our annual trip south. It is such a pleasure reacquainting our experiences and interests. Looking forward to seeing you them the summer.

Oh my goodness! We have boondocked many times but never have we had this kind of welcome. Two of the nicest ladies you could ever meet; invited us to dinner; great spot for our rig. Wish we were staying longer. Will definitely be back for another visit. Sure hope they will pay us a visit so we can show them some hospitality like they have shown us. Highly recommend.
This was our first stay at a Boondockers and we are glad it was with these lovely ladies! They let us stay for two nights and we are more than honored and happy to have met them and being at their place. They're close to Mt Airy which is a delightful little town to visit, we also took on their recommendations for biking route and visited the Mabry's mill, which is a must go if you stay at their place.
An amazing experience, joyful conversation, beautiful stars at night, and great hosts.
We were welcomed graciously. Had a wonderful dinner that they prepared for us.
Had a really nice visit. Only wish we could've stayed longer.
Very roomy site.
Beautiful location!
Will definitely go back.
Probably the nicest pepole I have ever met. I would absolutly recommend stopping by and making two new friends, even if it's out of the way! Thank you gladMar for making our first boondockers expirience a great one!
I had the pleasure of staying here just now and can't say enough about how nice the ladies are and how beautiful the site is. It's right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and an easy ride into Mt Airy if you want to see the Mayberry attractions. The site is level, quiet, and if you're a good guest, you may find some food to take on your journey. No pressure on them tho! There are no street lights so you'll see a million stars. Their dogs are as nice as they are too. I'll definitely come back when in the area.
These folks are so friendly and nice. The front porch visits were the most fun.Hope they will come to Alabama and visit with us on our back porch! Enjoyable visit.
Once again I had the pleasure of spending the night with these two caring ladies. I had some health problems and they were there to offer any help that they could. Looking forward to their stay up here when they come sometime. Thanks again ladies, you are the best!
Ross
We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The ladies are gracious and funny hosts who made us feel as welcome as family. The location was easy to find and not difficult to get into. Highly recommend this Boondockers Welcome! host.
Hubby and I stayed at the most amazing overnight right on the Blue Ridge in VA. We had all the amenities and the women were gracious, interesting, and welcoming. I hope they use our little place when they are around CT.
We could not have asked for a warmer welcome to Boondockers Welcome. The experience at Gladmar’s was one to remember. The warm welcome we received on a very cold, very long night was very much appreciated. In fact, a standard was set for welcoming guests, one we hope to replicate for our future guests.
Thank you ladies for such a wonderful night, and we hope to see you in the summer!
Ryan & Mel
Great Hosts!
A well traveled pair of ladies with a quick wit and the ability to make you feel like part of the family. Very gracious and accommodating.
Great location that fosters relaxation and just taking it easy.
Worth adjusting your route to visit.
They are so entertaining and interesting! Hopefully will see them again soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with the "Gladmar's" including the Spaghetti supper. Glady's furnished us a sewer hose so I would not have to climb to get mine. We will go back to see these nice folks some day soon.
Visited on 4 September, we could only
stay for one night.
Beautiful location with shade, easy to get in and out.
The ladies were a delight to visit with. They treated us like family.
We look forward to visiting with them again soon.
Highly recommend either as a guest or host.
We stayed with gladmar last night. Two of the warmest friendliest people I have met. Experiences like this are why we love to travel. This is a beautiful property very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Gladys and Mary Ann welcomed me to there lovely house in the woods. With a wealth of knowledge and travel experience, we shared stories of past and future adventures. A must stay and a quick hop on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks Ladies.
We can't say enough about how nice Gladmar treated us. From the moment we arrived they were warm and welcoming. We even were invited in for dinner!
Very interesting conversationalists - you will certainly enjoy your stay.
They have a fairly level site in their side yard complete with 30 amp power and graywater hookup.
Our only regret is that we visited between seasons so nothing was in bloom. As gorgeous as it already was, we could only imagine what it must look like when all is blooming.
We hope to return there and definitely recommend you stay with Gladmar!
Some boondocker sites are the best. This is one of them. What lovely ladies/hosts for our stay. They have 30 amp, which is a real boon [play on words, right?]. Their friendly nature, quiet spot, and kindness were so appreciated after a hard drive from Penn. And, to top it off, it's located just 12 miles from Mt. Airy NC, home of the Andy Griffith museum! We stayed an extra day to see the town that Mayberry was based on. And their great dog, Maddie, was a real nice addition!
It does not get much better than this! The views throughout the Blue Ridge are spectacular and this couple made me feel welcome and at home. The areas offered for parking are level and gravelled! Bonus! Knowledgeable travellers, they gave me plenty of tips and recommendations for my travels. Well worth a detour if you aren't doing the whole Blue Ridge!
