Susie and I are both active, adventurous and still loving the road trip life style. We became full time travelers in 2002. We both worked and played on the road until 2013 when we began building our mountain home in Colorado. Our home is still a work in progress but are comfortable and able to share our little piece of paradise with other Boondockers.
We are (were) both certified tour directors and tour bus operators.. We have worked in many capacities in the tourist industry. We have worked for Princess Tours in Alaska, Norwegian Cruise excursions in Maui,HI. We have also traveled for a variety of companies doing promotional tours.
We have a cat. Plus all of the deer act like they belong to us.
We raised our family right here in Colorado. I am a native of Fort Collins Colorado. Susie moved here in the seventies.
We call it a tent camper. Folds down to go down the road. Then pops up and beds slide out front and back. We pull it with out SUV.
they were great and brought along a very awesome sister. Cary made some great jalapeño jelly and gave me a jar. It is great on hot buttered biscuits. I wish they could have stayed longer.
Cary2some stayed just over night as they were traveling further south the next day. They were such warm friendly people we would certainly welcome them back.
They were a delight to have. Very friendly and respectful! Welcome back anytime.
Sadly a late plane kept us from meeting our hosts who did not return until quite late. But did not keep us from enjoying the calm spirit of their space and hospitality.
Meeting the hosts and their cat was a pleasure and I loved hearing their perspectives and about their past and current adventures. The night sky was gorgeous and Poudre valley was nearby and accessible. If you are in need of peaceful rest and perhaps some inspiration on how to lead a fulfilling life I would highly recommend these warm hosts.
Cary2some are great hosts! They have traveled extensively in the USA and Mexico. The description of amenities available in the description is accurate. We stayed 2 nights and watched the brilliant stars seated right in front our teardrop! Our hosts recommended several hikes in the area and were also a great resource for other BW hosts in the US. We will return for sure!
We stayed one night at this beautiful mountain home. Our hosts were so friendly, gracious, and generous. We enjoyed chatting with them and hearing about their travels. Our daughter loved their tree house and wants one now, too! Thank you!
Such wonderful hosts and what a lovely retreat.
This place had plenty of room for my rig, the hosts shared some local hikes ans things to see. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful there. Really enjoyed my stay and will go back in the future.
These guys were so friendly, helpful, and sociable. They helped get us situated and then brought out a little gift for us. They had a cool area for the kids to play and a free library which our kids also loved. Had a nice chat with them about their travels (which are extensive to say the least!). Great experience!
Location is on top of a ridge with a comfortable relaxed vibe. Hosts are friendly and welcoming and very widely traveled. So interesting to visit with and share past adventures. Very knowledgeable about the area, too. Would definitely stay again!
Drive was longer than expected - including the accurately described last 2 miles of steep gravel. Once there, the hosts are WONDERFUL. Enjoyed sitting and talking to them. Make sure to ask them about the design and building of their house!
AT&T cell service is spotty but you can find the right spot it works fine - Verizon coverage is apparently better.
The hosts have been so welcoming and gracious!! Beautiful location at 7600’ My dogs and I have had such a relaxing time. Been driving a lot this past week and felt good to end up at such a serene location. I’ve appreciated my stay here very much and would love to come back again sometime!!
Boondockers couldn't ask for nicer or more gracious hosts. Enjoyed getting to know Lucky and Susie. Nice views and a level spot...what more could you ask for. Susie makes some awesome jelly!
Thanks so much for a brief but beautiful stay! MarcyBen
Thanks for letting us stay at your place just off the beaten path. We had a nice evening visit at the picnic table , special thanks for the homemade jelly, tour guide instructions. Very pleasant hosts.
Our first boondock experience was awesome thanks to Lucky and Susie! They were wonderful hosts!
Lucky and Susie were amazing hosts. They greeted us when we showed up and helped us get into our spot. We sat down and had some spirits and shared stories about one another. They were so kind to us and made our first stay with boondockers welcome amazing. Looking forward to many more. Would definitely stay with them again.
Had a very nice stay. Hosts were very kind and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Beautiful, quiet spot.
We really enjoyed our stay at Lucky's and Susie's Retreat! We didn't get to meet Lucky, but had a wonderful time and great discussions with Susie. This is why we love Boondockers Welcome! The drive up was beautiful and the views from the property were amazing. We saw deer (including a playful fawn), hummingbirds and mountain bluejays. We highly recommend this host and hope to see them again.
A friendly couple that showed hospitality to a boondocker passing through. Their hilltop home was cool and breezy during the hot weather. The water and electrical hookups were much appreciated.
Deer, so many deer! A really nice drive from Fort Collins. Lucky and Susie were excellent hosts and I hope to visit again.
