I am a professional carpenter, landscaper, tradesman and avid archery hunter and fisherman. I love exploring God’s amazing creation with my lovely wife Renee. I finally convinced my wife to retire and stay home to help me with my business so now we have the freedom to get away when we can. Our mutual love for exploring new places and meeting new people is one of the greatest blessings in our marriage.
Jack of all trades, but specialize in framing, waters capes, landscaping and finish carpentry. I also play a few instruments and sing.

This host offers everything you need for a long or short stay. They were gone while I was there but the set up was great.
I visited Carlsbad Caverns and then took a short drive up to High Desert Hideaway. The site is level and easy to back into. Power and water hookups are nearby and readily accessible. The host was welcoming and friendly, as was the dog! Highly recommend this site.
We had a wonderful stay w nmxplorers . We enjoyed visiting with them. Their old dog was so sweet with our son. It was awesome to have a power hookup. We hope to be back. The stars were beautiful and we enjoyed the fire pit too!
Excellent communication, simple directions, full hookup availability. The host is very friendly and helpful. The father of the host met me at the driveway to assist with my back-in. 😇 Very nice family!
We had a very peaceful quiet evening. Our hosts we very accommodating! Very nice spot, would highly recommend staying there! We enjoyed it very much.
Thank you to our host for a amazing stay. This is a great place for a jumping off to sight see. It's quite and coming out to Miss Nell made my day. It was easy in and level. Our AT&T on our phones worked a little bit. Highly recommend staying here and hoping to return.
I camped for two nights. It was a quiet and enjoyable stay. A very generous host with full hookups (30A). There's even a fire pit with wood ready for a fire. I only wish I could've met the hosts but maybe next time. I felt very safe here.
Thank you for being a great host.
Directions were easy to follow. Friendly couple. We enjoyed our visit very much.
Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They showed us were to park, gave us places to visit, and even invited us to church. Great people to talk to.
Our hosts provided us with a pleasant greeting upon arrival and gave us with a quiet spot to stay for two nights that allowed us to visit Carlsbad Caverns while there also.
My wife & I both enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed the warm greeting that we received upon our arrival.
Host was friendly and welcoming. Our stay for 2 nights was just what we wanted...peaceful. Would stay again.
We had a very welcome and relaxing stay. The hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. This is a country property in a small village that we explored to learn about its history. We appreciated the host communicating with us prior to our visit, about securing tickets to Carlsbad and to bring supplies as the closest town is a 20 mile drive, which, was not a problem. Thanks again for the great stay!
We absolutely loved our stop at High Desert Hideaway! This is a great, quiet place to stop and visit the area. We so enjoyed visiting with the hosts and greatly appreciate their kindness and hospitality to us during our stay! Thanks, hope to stop and visit again!
Great high desert location. Our host offered a large level area to park, full 30/50A power and water. We enjoyed the campfire conversation under the stars listening to the wildlife.
Hope we get back here for another visit soon.
The other reviews were spot on. A great spot to stay. The hosts were gracious and very friendly. Like visiting with old friends.
Hosts weren't here but were kind enough to let us stay in their FHU site for 3 nights. We did get to meet host's delightful brother and sister in law. The BW sign let us know we were in the right place. Directions to site and parking were spot on. Quiet restful stay. Thank you!
Beautiful sunsets, easy parking. The hosts were on vacation, but allowed us to still utilize the space. They promptly checked in on us and made sure we had what we needed. We only wished we had the chance to meet them!
Our hosts were very welcoming and had things set up so nicely. They had water, electric, grey water & even black water dumps. (Which we did not use)
They even had a rock fire ring with split wood & kindling ready to be used it you desired. That was so thoughtful.
We had no problem backing our 35 foot pull-behind trailer and crew cab truck into the spot.
Our host home was a little way from Artesia, (approx 18 miles) but we didn't mind the drive one bit. It was great to have a nice, quiet spot to come back to.
Artesia is a nice size town. We spent one afternoon driving around looking at the sculptures scattered around town. There's both a Walmart and a Dollar Tree, which is about all we need.
If you get a chance, drive over the mountains to the west. It's a beautiful drive. Be sure to stop at Cloudcraft and have a BBQ sandwich at Mad Jack's and do a little shopping. What a fun little villiage.
Loved our stay here so much, we decided to stay a few days more. The sunsets are beautiful. If you watch, you might see a few deer in the field across the road.
The hosts were very welcoming. Quiet spot with beautiful sunsets.
Really enjoyed my time with this host. It was so nice to spend time with him and his family... their hospitality was amazing, and they are just generally some of the most interesting (and kind and warm) people I’ve met!
You will not be disappointed staying here. I would love to stay again if and when I’m back in the area!
Wonderful hosts. Very lovely people. My husband and I will miss them! Wonderful country property with water, electric, and grey water dump options. Perfect for the quiet type. Good bird watching. I absolutely loved this stay! We will definitely book here again.
A quiet site and an accommodating host. Electricity, water, and a waste dump.
A wonderful, friendly and safe place to stay. Both hosts were lovely, accommodating and very gracious. Easy to find, easy to set up, level with water, electric and dump if required. I was there for two nights as a base camp for Roswell and White Sands. Looking forward to stopping again for another visit....maybe next year! Thank you J & R!
We stayed with NMXplorers for two nights so we could visit Roswell about 50 miles away. The parking spot was level and the hook ups were a bonus, especially the dump. It was nice chatting to the hosts and getting to know them.
We were just passing through and this was our first boondockers experience. Joel made it so easy and comfortable! He helped us get situated on the nice level site with power and water. We’d gladly have spent more time there if we didn’t have plans on down the road. The world needs more people like this!
These Hosts are warm, communicative, and very welcoming. YES, we arrived later than planned and he guided us into position like a crew guiding pilots onto an Aircraft Carrier. Level, clean site, and easy access to electrical connection. Highly recommend you visit NMXplorers when in SE New Mexico. Oh, and the village of Hope, NM has its own local wild turkey named (you guessed it) ............. "HOPE".
Thanks you two for being You !!
The unusual thing about these guys is that while they have never been a Boondockers Guest, they have nailed the Boondockers Host experience completely. They have a big wide open space to set your trailer, with hookups if you need them (I didn't.) Their property is large and feels very much off the beaten path even though it's relatively close to major roads. It's quiet and private--perfect after a long day. When I first got there we chatted before I set up. He greeted me and showed me one of his most recent handcrafted projects which led to a fun discussion about common work experiences. We could have talked a lot longer but it was getting dark and I needed to set up and get started with preparing dinner. As I said, they're great hosts--super friendly, warm and outgoing. Oh and did I mention the beautiful sunset?
The town of Hope has seen better days; however, we fell in love with it and the area. There was a wild turkey stationed outside of the post office; the old girl was more of a pet than wild. Of course, we named her Hope. I do hope she finds a good home.
Our hosts were wonderful and informed us of where to get great Mexican food. They are located about 45 minutes from Roswell and about 90 minutes from Carlsbad Caverns, which should be on everyone’s bucket list.
We highly recommend staying with this host. If we can, we’ll be back!
The hosts were easy to work with and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this spot!
Perfect little spot. Water, power and even a dump available. Thank you so much!
We stayed with NMXplorers for 5 nights while my husband worked remotely and it was the perfect, level, quiet spot.
We visited the White Sands National Park (2 hrs away) and made a few trips into Artesia (20 min) for gas, groceries and new tires after we discovered an issue.
Our kids loved the host's dog, & the swings down the road, and we appreciated the water & electric hookups and the dump station we used at the end of our stay. There's also a great community trash dumpster right down the road that we used multiple times. The hosts were attentive and were great about quick responses to any questions we had.
Arrived to a "Welcome Boondockers" sign. Renee met us and helped us find our spot even with wind and sand swirling around us. Glad to have a level spot to park. Had a lovely visit before leaving on a much calmer morning. Really wished we could have stayed longer. Great folks.
We enjoyed our stay and wished we had more time here! The hosts were so kind and accommodating, and worked with our last minute rescheduling which made things so much easier for our travels. Lovely, quiet spot with electric, water, and an adorable Aussie! Hope we can spend more time here in the future. Thank you NMXplorers!
When you drive up to a place that has a sign that says "Boondockers Welcome" you know you are home! My hosts provided a great place to park with electric and water if I needed it. I even spotted a picnic table. Had a wonderful visit in this out of place way. I will definitely go back if they will have me!
Very good communication and very accommodating. Beautiful sunsets.
I stayed for 2 nights primarily to spend a day resting and and just 'be'! When I arrived, I was greeted and assisted with getting parked and hooked up. I love their location. It's peaceful and offered everything I needed to regenerate. I do hope my path will lead me to their home again!
Booked for two days but had to leave early. The host was attentive and met us as we drove in. He even has a Boondockers Welcome sign out for us. Offered us water and electric even though we didn’t need any. The night was quiet and peaceful. Would say here again.
Friendly and helpful host. Room to park and maneuver. Level. Quiet. Open space with nice sunsets.
After six busy weeks on the road, this was an ideal landing spot for us to rest & regroup. Joel & Renee are attentive but not intrusive hosts, & they provide full hook ups in a private space. The village of Hope is fairly remote, so come stocked up with provisions. But, Artesia is an easy 20 miles away to buy anything you may have forgotten. We sampled some of the delicious pecans that had just started dropping from the trees & wouldn't hesitate to stay at this rural getaway in big sky country again!
We stayed 2 nights at Joel and Renee's, they were very friendly and helpful getting us set up and hooked up which is always a plus when on the road. We hope to stay there again in future travels as it was a great place to stay. Thank you for your hospitality 👍😊
Great location, level area for hookups. Our host was so helpful with area attractions, could not have been a better overnight stay.
Perfect landing spot after not having a perfect day... all was well as I putzed at 40 miles per hour to get up to Cloudcroft and then got a speeding ticket as I came into town. Seriously, I am always the slowest person on the road. In 48 years of driving I have never gotten a ticket. Anyway, NMXplorers gave me the perfect spot to lick my wounds and get a good nights sleep before an early departure. Thank you so much.
Wonderful family welcomed us to their farm and helped us set up too. They have dedicated RV space for Boondockers that is just perfect. We watched a beautiful sunset while we chatted and traded stories with Joel. Great folks and we will come back if you will have us! God bless y’all 😁
Host was very welcoming and friendly. Such a beautiful place! Peaceful and accommodating. Glad to have the option to plug in :) love meeting other travelers and hosts 🚎🤩
We had the best time staying at NMXplorers. The location is central to a lot of things to do in the area. The closest town with conveniences is within 20 min. But what made our stay unique was the wonderful hosts. The family is super welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend to stay more than one night -even 2 are too short- if you really want to spend a great time. We do also wish for future story time around a bonfire wherever our path can cross again.
Hosts were great. They have gone out of their way to make an area for RVers. Beautiful compound! Definitely will stay again when in the area! My stay was too short!
This is a beautiful setting. The host was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed a walk through the village and just sitting and relaxing.
I just spent the past 2 days boondocking at the high desert hideaway! Renee was very helpful and accomodating! Location was a beautiful village filled with so many horses! Water and electric was provided. Internet was offered if mine didnt work (it did). I am so thankful to have experienced my first Boondockers Welcome stay at the the high desert hideaway!
